Great vid, and the questions never cease to amaze me lol I've been doing cerakote and hydro dip for about 2 years now and the work is getting easier but the questions I hear just makes me SMH and pinch myself to make sure I really heard what they said🤣🤣
LMAO... I hear ya man. We get some wild phone calls and some really off the wall questions that just make me SMH all the time. Thanks for checking out the video.
This is good info for powdercoating as well. Wish I knew some of these myself.
Although my other issues were more partner related. Things I also wish I knew before.
Excellent advise and wisdom to pass on down. Be well and Be safe.
Thank you Brian, appreciate you checking out the video.
Brilliant video 👍 nice to see your passion for your business 🙏
Thank you David.
Thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
G'day great video mate 🍻
Thanks bud!
I'm getting going on Cerakote myself...25K in my ground-up shop, 1K in the compressor, 3K in the oven, $500 on my sandblast setup, $500 in my Cerakote kit, plus other miscellaneous expenses!! It is expensive but I'm all in...plus wife and I are on the waitlist to go to training hopefully at the end of the year or early next year..$3500+...cash flowing it all with exception of the shop at the moment...gonna get into some oil and gas applications is our first order of business...
NICE! Glad to hear you are getting things up and running. Sounds like you have made some good investments into the future of your business. Best of luck and let us know if we can be of any help.
I am a gunsmith that does both hydrographics and coating. Cerakote and Gunkote. This can all be frustrating at times when people ask about pricing. They just can't understand why it costs more for two colors , the worn look, custom colors, and so much more. Or the prep it takes. Then there is that guy who wanted his gun finished yesterday but I just got it tomorrow if you get what I am saying. I only do guns. Rarely will I do anything else.
I completely understand your frustration, I am in the same boat with the hundreds of calls and emails I get about pricing.
@@AllThingsFunHydrographics are you guys still doing guns and if so how could I do business with one of yall, Peace
So was there a blooper at the 2:35 mark that you might have left out? It looked like the camera was slowly dropping down from its stand...? lol
Nah I editied it that was so it wasn't so boring watching us talk from one angle non stop.
Great video, I'll try to stop calling and asking stupid questions.
None of your questions are stupid. You have yet to call and ask me to hydro dip your dog LOL
As a Gunsmith that happens to hydro-dip guns, I know what you are talking about. I learned right away that the hydro business has tentacles that branch out all over. I simply have to tell people NO when it comes to dipping anything other than firearms or the occasional deer skull (and I am beginning to not like the skulls so much because of the time/profit ratio). I already perform full restorations, hot bluing, slow rust bluing, color case hardening, minor gold plating, stock finishing/re-finishing, baking lacquer, and general repair and still only have 2 hands. I know how time consuming it can all be, which leads me to a question.. Are you the only one operating your shop or do you have a couple of 'grunts' that are disassembling/reassembling firearms/related items for you? I don't know how you could do it all by yourself....
I have 3 part time people that help with basic stuff like sand blasting, stencil making, jigging, unpacking. But all of the disassembly, cerakoting, reassembly and dipping is all me. It's 27 hours a day, 9 days a week job for me, plus running 2 TH-cam channel.
@@AllThingsFunHydrographics You're NUTS! Don't burn yourself out!
@@guitarsnguns I've been burnt out for 5 years! Hard to find good reliable help but one day I can sit back and just have fun doing TH-cam. Work hard now so I can relax later
Where are you located at friend?

I don’t really get dumb questions. But I get a constant request to Hydro dip their item black. Just flat black. 😂
LOL. I get that a lot, I just paint it black and give it back to them.
Hydrodip ya beard...dat thang tight🤣🤣🤣
LOL, thanks
Man, that Cerakote dude is short!
But he’s very cute!!!
He is fun sized... not short!
@@laurasiegert7719 You have to say that, you're my wife, lol.
He said the dumb guy who says ha can u chrome out my slide ..thats me that hurt my feelings 😪 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
👍👍👍👍
Thanks bud!
I want to dip small stuff up to helmets I’m buying the latex printer for my shirt business anyways with a focus on hand ✍️ anime
Cool, go make that money!
Great...I have 2k in savings. Seems like I can't get into this
Yeah this stuff gets expensive quick, but you can surely build it up over time.
it depends on the level you plan on achieving. I've only spent about $2k so far for a used tank, some paints from OHW, films etc., and the materials to build a 100-gallon rinse tank. I'm far from professional but I can sustain my current workload of 1-2 guns a week. I built a makeshift paint booth that's just big enough to put the gun parts in with a box fan and filter. full disclosure I am only doing work for friends and family and I'm not charging anything for it yet, but they get the disclosure that the work I'm doing for free is for my practice to better myself, so any fuck ups come with the price. So far, no fuck ups though.
I am a custom builder if you you have to ask how much you can't afford it!!
LOL... Ain't that the truth,
Calling potential customers stupid 😅 doesn’t make you look good brother, definitely wouldn’t earn my business!
