This game is one of the most beautiful displays of Y2K psychedelia I’ve ever seen. Really shows off the PS1’s capability for sample playback, with that wonderful score that actively remixes itself as you walk around.
I love hearing the backtrack for "some kinds of love" at 40:36, it makes me wonder how much music from the album is in the actual game, im starting to become obsessed with the rabbit hole that is this game
2:22:04 has a backing track from "sleep in the middays sun!" I was also ripping some audio files from this game, and I found almost every stem for "sometimes I breathe." I've barely scraped the surface
DUDE thank you so much for making this. i was considering making my own walkthrough/playthrough of this since i couldn't find anything on the internet, but then this popped up today! DOB is one of my favorite bands and it makes me really happy seeing someone so dedicated to them.
@@Vibra2K Thanks for clearafiying after i made the comment i made some research and now i know more about Date of Birth and Dob. But before i had no idea this game was linked to a band and thought it was simply a strange game wich it still is even with a little bit more context.
@@Vibra2K Also just wanted to say if you were ever to listen to the games soundtrack you might find lists saying Planet Dob OST but this is actually most of the time for the Album Planet Dob by Date Of Birth wich has separate music from the Game Planet Dob.
@@promania8956 yep, the game used 7 songs from the album, kinda disappointed it didn't have the rest, I love 'alien in the dream' and 'how do you think' , and i wish the songs that only from the game were included in the album too..
I really had to be pretty stoned before I was able to realize the absolute genius of this work of art. I still can't quite fathom the intellect that produced this masterwork.
This is one of the best Japanese Exclusive and/or Y2K Psychedelia Games I’ve ever seen, I love every single character design, I can make a statement that I wouldn’t be able to make last decade about the one character I saw at 01:34:42 that unfortunately looks like the currently overrated and disliked TikTok music artist known as Ice Spice (I’m sorry for bringing that up, I know it may have reminded you of something negative), the fact that this is a game made by a band named Date Of Birth (much like how Vib Ribbon’s soundtrack was composed by a music group called Laugh And Peace in the first place), the gameplay variety, preety much everything here looks like something Caddicarus would LOVE.
Can't get enough of the music from 38:56 - 1:11:00 . Wish someone would make a desktop program to create your own dynamic tracks from the games library of samples and mix them live too.
I wonder if it’s possible to attack the hostile bad guys as long as they are moving on the ground and not in the air in this marvelous game………that would make the game even better………it would be nice to square up with the boxing kangaroo enemy from 03:45:20 since DOB has the ability to punch and kick………it would be a nice use of the Combat System, I reckon.
@@YunikuYosefMomokano it wasn't, it was made by a member of a Japanese band named 'Date of Birth', this was their first time (also their last time) to make something like this. (for context; they previously made pop and other regular music genres in the 80-90's. In the mid 90's, a member, Ken-1, who loves computers and multimedia, had an idea to make a new album with newborn genres and enhanced cd for the next album 'la lu la roo'. After that, he started developing stuff like that even more and much different, especially the game, and with the band's help to create the soundtracks.) Also in the promotion plan of the game, it's confirmed that this game is parappa inspired game, sort of.
This game makes me feel sick, as if some foreign substance is degrading my brain. I doubt knowing Japanese would help me understand any more of what's going on. The soundtrack is solid though.
@@addude04Looking forward to it! Favorite track is probably the soundtrack for the First Piece (believe it’s called “A Vagabond Life”, according to the remix menu.) Searched for a full mix of that for a while to no avail.

Yeah what a prime example of the aesthetic of the y2k animation. Holy crap
This game is like what a PSI Brainshock from mother would feels like.
Best analogy ever
It really is!!!
I'll be your 100th like for the evening
I want the aesthetic of this game pumped into my heart like an IV.
im dobbing so hard
I'm straight Dobmaxxing in the club right now.
who up dobbing they planet
this feels like a fever dream.
nah fr
Yes
that's because it is
I love how the band managed to create a so weird and cool game like their music itself.

Im getting a slight parappa the rapper vibes from this
parappa the cracker

NaNa OSHA made a lot of music themed games with catchy sound tracks.
A lot of their employees are musicians or just simply have a strong love for it.

I was gonna say. Most likely, Vinny will play this for 5 minutes before disappointingly moving on.
