  • I am comparing 1.7-10x42 versions from both brands. After testing side by side for months, I will never buy Swarovski again. I rather buy two Meostars. Meopta Meostar lets you hunt way past the legal light. The scope is reliable and rugged. Optics are at the same level as Swarovski. Turrets are better on Meopta Meostar.

    You are preaching to the choir, Jay. MeoStar is #1 in low light visibility.

      I am just trying to reach out to people who don’t know about Meopta or are trying to decide between these two scopes. There are not many reviews or comparisons available.

    Fantastic review. Thank you for sharing. I wish I had looked closer at meostar before I bought my swaro.

    Good review. I'm a Meopta guy with 3 now. The Meostar lens coatings don't take a back seat to anyone.

    I just bought a Meopta Optika6 1-6x24 SFP. One of the Meoptas "budget" variants. I thinik it's a great scope for the money, especially in low light. So, there is so many good riflescopes out there. My humble opinion is that Swarovski scopes cost to much.

    To each his own - but to compare the audibility of "clicks" on the turrets on a hunting scope where almost nobody is ever going to dial the turrets continuously doesn't really mean much. I'm a dealer for both and I also own both brands, and although the Meopta's are good value for money, they're certainly not at the top of the totem pole for higher end scopes. The biggest problem with Meopta is service!! When you're located outside the USA, you're left dealing with mostly crappy distributors - so if you have issues, you're SOL. With Swaro, the service is world class. Even trying to deal with Meopta in CZ is a pain... And I speak from experience here.

    I am looking for a low light hunting fixed power scope. I have came to two brands so far to decide between the two. Meopta Meostar and Schmidt and Bender Klassik.

    Hi, I have a sako 85 and I want to mount a scope on it, I had also thought of this meopta or z6i model, as you have meopta mounted. Do you have any ejection problem? that is, sako 85 in some cartridge hits the case with the drift cover, does it happen to you? Thank you

      Mine is 30.06. You need to learn at what speed your bolt works the best. If too fast then empty shell will hit the scope and if too slow the shell will fall back into the action. It is all about learning and practice.

    How do the eyebox compare? Is the meopta easier or harder to get the full sight picture. I hear zeiss is the best in this regards

    • @jagmeetsmann
      @jagmeetsmann  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both have equally good eyebox but Swarovski has little bigger AFOV. Which makes the black ring appear thinner.

    • @ryaniam22
      @ryaniam22 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jagmeetsmann Funny so say that the afov is better on the swaro because when you watch the optics trade eu video it makes it seem like when fully zoomed out the meopta presents a bigger image slightly (bigger afov) but the swaro has a bigger real fov. The swaro presents a smaller circle that appears further away slightly yet has more feet within that smaller circle. Weird

    Nice video! So I am intersted about this scope Meostar R2 1.7-10x42, but I keep looking at Meostar R2 2-12x50, and is hard to decide. Please, tell me, in low light (for deer hunting) works fine Meostar R2 1.7-10x42?

      You will not be able to tell the difference in brightness. Contrast is more important than just brightness. These scopes are very close . You cannot go wrong. I just like compact scopes with wider field of view better.

    Do not discount the quality of the lenses in Meopta's products. Some of the lenses Zeiss uses are made by Meopta.

      Ya meopta used to make the amazing zeiss diascopes which are still as good as it gets. They also made the older leica televid spotting scopes....the zeiss ones are better but still top 3 at the time. Meopta made zeiss conquest scopes for a while. I believe the v4s and some other zeiis conquest 4.5-14s or something. You will notice meopta has many of the same magnification scopes as zeiss but just without side parallax or illumination. That was part of the contract in building stuff for zeiss they weren't literally allowed to make their own brand scope or sporting scopes as good by contract. Now meopta released their own spotting scope the s2 and it kicks ass. Blows swaro away. Zeiss is still king in brightness but in resolution meopta is just as good with more contrast. That's a 70x scope or an amazing 30-60 wide angle eyepiece with an amazing constant 66 degree afov. Meopta rocks. More rugged than modern zeiss conquests or victories from what I have seen too. Metal internals while zeiss and swaro use plastic. Leica scopes at least are metal internals but meopta is half the price

    austrians like to overcharge worse than germans. like glock, its production cost is like 70 bucks. i bet even taurus costs more to make. do a review on meopta and swaro spotting scopes. or meopta and kowa.
