Fun story. When Karl whistles I get flashbacks of playing the original Ghost Recon multiplayer. A few of us would play as snipers on the wood map. One guy who went by the alias of “Beaker” used to do that exact whistle over teamspeak before dispatching one of us from behind. They whistle meant almost certain death but we never knew who it would be. He was a sneaky bugger 😂. Clearing this mission on authentic was quite the challenge. I managed to get the secondary objectives done but forgot to check the kill challenge. I guess I’ll have to do it again 😅.
Yeah! I thought I could pick up the kill list target after zipling off the carrier as I had already spotted the ziplines leading to the area of the map the kill target was in. I even ran through my plan of attack in the first recording I did (of which only the intro and the invasions were used in this video) before setting off the explosion. Man was I shocked when the mission just ended. I thought I'd exfiltrate off the edge of the map manually as you do in most other missions! The whistling in this game reminds me of Assassin's Creed 4. The protagonist in that game does a couple of the same whistles and every time Karl does it I'm reminded of that game, which is still a favourite of mine now. Nowhere near as cool as associating it with a great memory of being annihilated by a sneaky git in a classic multiplayer game, though. Memories like that are just awesome, thanks for sharing!
LOUD and angry is my normal play, but so many mg42's cuts you down so fast, love this map/campaign, so aggressive; one sniper won't appear unless the alarm at the sub pen isn't activated... but i saw you get him, so triggered it was... sometimes in any campaign map you have to allow alarms to get the full wave... if you want to battle...
I take it that you meant that he only appears if the alarm is activated? No alarms were raised, though; I didn't hear any and the end screen showed 0, but I definately wasn't silent all the time as shown in the video! EDIT: Found the guy you mean whilst searching for the workbenches (or in this case didn't find him because I noticed he was missing this time). He's up some inaccessbile stairs in a building with a balcony behind a closed door. I tested it and he's triggered by noise and commotion, not just the alarm. I disabled the alarm and he still comes out if he hears noise nearby. EDIT 2: Turns out there's two of them, there is another one behind a door in another part of the map that reacts the same way. They only trigger if you alert nearby friendlies or make a noise.
Love your honesty that this isn't your first playthrough, BUT the title is a little deceptive even though you put an s on playthough; having said that you admitted right off the bat it wasn't first run and i bow to your honesty sir... if only we had more such as you reviewing games...
I don't know what to say, as you've already acknowledged that 'playthroughs' means more than one and I open stating that the video includes elements of both. This is not a reaction video and its heavily edited. The point of the video is to show the new content and talk about whether good and if its worth the price. I would have used the word 'initial' but it doesn't fit into the title (TH-cam has a 100 character limit and the current title 100 characters long). These were my first playthroughs recorded hours apart (I had to sleep in between) and were never meant as anything more than to show the mission off, which I feel they do. I only re-recorded it at all because the mission ended abruptly before I'd explored everything, and to reload to do the parts I had missed just to go through the carrier yet again would have been disjointed and also disingenuous. I'm sorry if you feel it was deceptive, as that was never my intention.
You were great, well played! I was totally miffed that Karl went rogue with the SMG by refusing to aim at you, although I doubt it would have made much difference! 😂 Sorry I didn’t rematch the second time, I had to crack on with the playthrough (that I ultimately had to re-record anyway)!
Manic is accurate. I restarted it 9 times before I managed the final finished playthrough without deaths! It’s currently in the editing phase and will be coming soon!
Entertaining video as always! 👍🏻 I really like this new mission. I spent 3hr 32min on my first playthrough on authentic. Maintaining stealth during invasion is quite a challenge, knowing that another player is actively hunting you down. 😂 I'm curious how you will play loud lunatic run on this map! I think it will be interesting.
Finally picked up this DLC and played through it 3 or 4 times... Not as good as Landing Force IMO, but still pretty good! Lots of Jagers, better-populated than most of the SE5 maps, and some good opportunities for stealth and for long-range shooting... It's been so long since I've played an SE5 map where sighting the enemy nearby actually made me nervous! And it's easy to get caught out in the close quarters fight on the ship, so that's good! 😃
Landing Force is easily my favourite of the DLC maps. Kraken is great too, but my feelings on it are mixed. It rewards stealth and punishes noisy play, which is great, but it's actually quite a small-feeling map because everything is centered around the aircraft carrier, and for invasions its mixed bag at best.
@@duckwit85 Yeah, I get that. More underground areas on either side of the ship might have helped flesh it out a bit there. It kinda ends up with the map almost separated into three distinct parts, and you have to make a hell of a racket to get enemies to leave their area and actually enter another. Then there's the usual issues with stealth - the unreliability of sound as an indicator of the enemy's proximity to Karl, the failure of guards to hear noise cues through doorways, and the continuing mystery of light in SE - I THINK it matters... sort of? But the randomly unbreakable lights kill me! I blasted one with armour-piercing slugs, threw a sticky grenade on it, emptied an SMG mag at it... nothing. Then I retreated a few metres and fired a subsonic pistol round at it... & it shattered lol. Having said that, I'm enjoying the increased challenge greatly, and each time I've played it's been quite different. Pretty sure that Landing Force has more longevity though... One thing I really like about Landing Force is that it offers the player at least two key positions with a great over-view to dominate a section of the map (the lighthouse and the fort). Both are not easy to access and to stealthily take over, but they're so worth it for the sniping opportunities. That's the kind of risk-reward incentive for stealth that I crave in this game! As you noted several times in this video, Stealth and Invasion really don't mix. But they COULD - if Rebellion gave players the option to turn off Focus Mode, the Camping rule, and Invasion Phones. Imagine the true stealthy TERROR or knowing that an Invader had arrived... somewhere. And then maybe hearing & seeing NOTHING for the next hour... until you get domed within sight of your objective! Those changes, plus parity between Karl & the Jager regarding ammo etc. (plus TIME BOMBS!) would make Invasion mode potentially compatible with stealth IMO. Honestly, Rebellion would be smart to just keep pushing the ability of the player to customize the game. It should be possible to play a more arcade run 'n' gun style OR a hardcore stealth style by selecting the features you want.
I am surprised you didn't take the new Mauser pistol though... I didn't either; m1a silenced, m44 silenced, p08 silenced: all scoped, still got the gold longshot but took 3 shots 566m, m1 having semi auto helped heaps...
The Mauser, when silenced, is about as loud as the Erma and I had a loud-ish rifle for ranged kills, so I wanted something really quiet for busy areas. It will probably make an appearance when I do the loud run.
You should try to run a mission with no perks on for a much better challenge Also sniper elite 5 is free on Xbox game pass to that’s where most of the player base including me got it from I would like them to add more invasion skins to they can just transfer the skins from multiplayer into invasion
Looks like more long-range sniping opportunities, and more enemies than the previous two DLCs, which I haven't bothered with. But I think I'll wait for your stealth playthrough to see if this is worth buying... Yeah, regarding having Invasion on and trying to stealth... seems like two different games and playstyles colliding tbh. If Rebellion had put more thought into it and not rushed out an unfinished game, maybe this inherent contradiction could have been mitigated somewhat with some tweaks? How about a 'Stealth Invasion' option, where you can turn off the phones? That way, if Karl stays silent, the Jager genuinely has no idea what he's up to, but knows the targets he has to protect. And fuck it, allow camping. It's a Sniper game ffs! That - plus timebombs like in SE1 - would allow a player to sneak in, set something to blow in 10 minutes or so, and sneak out (with disarming obviously a feature for the Jager, should they discover the bomb).
Yep, the focus ability also makes stealth difficult on most difficulties on all but the the most unobservant players. If it didn’t exist you would probably see more stealth. I also hate the camping timer as it forces you into moving and potentially exposing your position. It’s caught me out more and more of late, as the player pool has decreased and the remaining players are veterans, so I’ve had to exercise more caution. I just think they should neutralise the player advantage a bit. Disable the ability to see invaders through focus/camping penalties/weapon advantages on all but the easiest difficulties, and make it so you can filter difficulty settings at matchmaking. That way you can cater to all skill levels but also preserve the option for those who want a challenge to find that challenge. The devs have been lazy and somewhat tone deaf to the division invasion mode causes. Division that they could easily fix with some tweaking, a patch or two, and some matchmaking filters, but I guess it’s not profitable to add that now!
@@duckwit85 Yeah, I forgot about that stupid wall-hack! I think the logic is not hard to work out. Skilled players replaying the game doesn't make Rebellion more money, but Invasion Mode is a marketable feature that's new to the series. I'd wondered if Rebellion was being forced to satisfy greedy shareholders? That usually seems to be the story when some well-known franchise starts to smell like a rip-off... But I don't think it is. I'm just guessing that there's no-one left of the original team that made SE4 to actually give a shit any more... I mean, SE5 is finished now. And look at how it ended ffs! Compare that to the end of Deathstorm 3 in SE4! Honestly though, how hard could it be to introduce another mode where wallhacks and phones are turned off, and the camping rule is removed? If they did that, experienced players might actually be able to get on board with Invasion in the long-term, in a way that doesn't just change Sniper Elite into a different game.
@@Nifter71 Invasions can absolutely be pretty fun, but there are times when they are a huge inconvenience due to the fact that you know that you have to essentially burn the subterfuge that you have been so careful to maintain. I guess thats why some players play just for invasions, and it absolutely suits a player who likes the louder, more gung-ho playstyle. My playstyle mostly leans towards stealth, though. I tried going max. stealth and leaving soldiers alive to throw off invaders, but it just means you're pretty much toast if you have to try and fight an invader, and you have no safe ground to retreat to, so I gave up playing that way. That's the main reason I decided to do the loud runs in the first place. The focus mode is the reason I never get in close any more, they can see exactly when I'm going to round a corner to try and get them. Sometimes I would win anyway, other times I'd be annihilated on rounding a corner because I'm not sure quite where they are in a room but they can see my every move. Also the fact that Karl has AP rounds and the invader doesn't is utterly balls. There are places where Karl can stand and shoot you and you can't shoot back because his rounds penetrate and yours won't; Boarded up windows, for example, and even some standard plate glass windows do this too! Then there is the issue with players rigging maps to farm kills, trapping invader spawns, camping and shooting invaders before they've even finished loading in (because apparently the inital invader spawn location is predictable), cleared maps, maps trapped the max, etc! A patch to prevent invaders spawning near traps or in line of sight to a player doesn't seem like it would be particularly difficult to achieve, nor preventing invasions if there are more than 40+ traps on the map or 90% of the AI is dead but Rebellion have done nothing so its been happening pretty much since release. You don't even have the option to filter out those games. Hence you have players trolling and harrassing other players due to a completely avoidable situation. Even a few seconds spawn protection would help. I stopped complaining about other players when I logically concluded that the game allows it, therefore the devs are to blame, and I just exercise my right to surrender the match and find other one. Cool, no problem, except the matchmaking system then pairs you up with them again and again, so you end up having to block them permanently just so you can match with someone different. I don't like doing that and the unnecessary conflict is why I've generally avoided competetive multiplayer games altogether for the last 20 years; I've only played Hell Let Loose, which was recently ruined with bad updates, and Axis Invasion in that time; otherwise its single player or co-op against AI only for me! So yeah, the only tweaks they have made is to nerf invaders because they were winning too often, thus playing as Karl is, and has been, the easiest way to win against another player because of the way the devs have stacked the deck in his favour. Likewise, invasions are detrimental to players trying to achieve perfect stealth, so they turn it off, thus you mostly get matched with loud players who like to panzerfaust or MG42 you into oblivion a lot of the time. I had the most fun in this new mission when I wasn't invaded. The silence, the tension, the looking around, and the knowledge that only I can screw it up for myself. My reaction when I got invaded was a genuine "I'm not ready for this" because I knew my stealthy progress was going to be destroyed. I'm so looking forward to turning invasions off for a while and doing some stealth now that the novelty is wearing off a bit!
although it could get really annoying as he did in the mission, i really think kraken awakes is one of if not the best SE5 mission, simply because its actually difficult. for example in target fuhrer whole chunks of the map are devoid of any troops and most of the ones you encounter are standard infantry which i find weird considering i thought they would have the whole place surrounded by fallschrimjagers 24/7 not there being 2 entrances with no guards and them having to use a jager instead of a sniper. anyway the point is i hope SE6 will have more if not all their levels like this.
Sorry, I don’t know! I adjusted it to suit what I felt was right for the mission and now it’s been changed again! I change it all the time! Just find what works for you!
i'm surprised at all the "this is rubbish" crowd when they haven't played all combinations of weapons or characters in every map, just found one weapon that gets them through and the end; so many options that make this game as difficult as you want it to be, want hard, authentic plus, no scope on the weakest weapons, and show your progress... Heres a bet, no scope game on any weapon and playthrough no edits, proof of no edit via counter onscreen. That will have the cheats editing for days, and the honest posting soon... Those whinging its too easy, no scope on anything and go... prove it.
I checked and technically they do, but lights in SE5 are wildly inconsistent. Some you can't destroy at all, others you can but it has no effect. In some areas you are more illuminated than others even though there are no lights around. They are a much more polished mechanic in the earlier games and a bit broken in SE5.
I'm playing this game since 1 month ago for free on my PS subscription. It's great. But your points about pricing on their season passes are bang on. 30 pounds for a season pass is a joke. I refuse to pay it. Interestingly, I also played SE4 recently for free too and the season passes are also 30 pounds, the same price as when they were released years ago! Bloody ridiculous.
I don’t remember which video on my page but your name does ring a bell I think I remember seeing your name I’m sure I’ve gone up against you on axis invasion I could be wrong though😂😂 do you remember someone called SStealthbomb on axis invasion
He’s behind the door on the gantry. 3 of the snipers on this map only come out if you make noise or alert nearby enemies. In this case he wasn’t alerted, so never came out.
To clarify, there are 7 snipers on the map. 4 of them are always present and in areas you can get to. The 3 that are on balconies that are inaccessible are the ones who come out when there is noise or commotion. If you look carefully, there will be an open door behind them. Those doors are closed when the mission starts, and they open and the snipers walk about when there is noise or alert in certain trigger areas on the map.

Superb map.
Hi duckwit GG on the matches i was great horned rat
You were great, well played! I was totally miffed that Karl went rogue with the SMG by refusing to aim at you, although I doubt it would have made much difference! 😂
Sorry I didn’t rematch the second time, I had to crack on with the playthrough (that I ultimately had to re-record anyway)!
Looking forward to your load playthrough. Every time I've gone load in authentic it's been manic.
I'm curious how you will play loud lunatic run on this map! I think it will be interesting.
Loadout is going to be important, I think…
You should try to run a mission with no perks on for a much better challenge
Also sniper elite 5 is free on Xbox game pass to that’s where most of the player base including me got it from
I would like them to add more invasion skins to they can just transfer the skins from multiplayer into invasion
Man i love your vids❤
Hello Duckwit, what weapon modifications are you using in the video? (Sniper rifle, smg, pistol) :)
Sorry, I don’t know! I adjusted it to suit what I felt was right for the mission and now it’s been changed again! I change it all the time! Just find what works for you!
Ulimited POWEERRR!!!!
Pretty much, yeah!
Iv played this mission 5-7 times now lol
i'm surprised at all the "this is rubbish" crowd when they haven't played all combinations of weapons or characters in every map, just found one weapon that gets them through and the end; so many options that make this game as difficult as you want it to be, want hard, authentic plus, no scope on the weakest weapons, and show your progress...
Heres a bet, no scope game on any weapon and playthrough no edits, proof of no edit via counter onscreen. That will have the cheats editing for days, and the honest posting soon...
Those whinging its too easy, no scope on anything and go... prove it.
There are submarines still! uboot!
I've been told that lights do have an effect, but god knows...
Nope, sorry! Western Europe? I get this a lot and its usually mistaken identity because my gamer tag is catchy.
@@duckwit85 lol i’ll have to keep a look out just to make sure lol
What is the largest DLC
How many missions?
It would be one of the two season passes. The missions are otherwise separate DLCs, although they do have weapons included with them.
this map is fun on invasion mode
23:11 what happened to the sniper who is above and a bit to the left of guy you see here?
He’s behind the door on the gantry. 3 of the snipers on this map only come out if you make noise or alert nearby enemies. In this case he wasn’t alerted, so never came out.
To clarify, there are 7 snipers on the map. 4 of them are always present and in areas you can get to. The 3 that are on balconies that are inaccessible are the ones who come out when there is noise or commotion. If you look carefully, there will be an open door behind them. Those doors are closed when the mission starts, and they open and the snipers walk about when there is noise or alert in certain trigger areas on the map.
@@duckwit85but he was out there. I put the time stamp where you can see him.
@@duckwit85ok, maybe he just went in again. Is that a thing they can do? Or is he one of the already-there snipers?
@@LeanAndMean44 You're right, he's there! I apparently got really lucky and he didn't see me. He's still stood there when I take out the second guy. He was looking in the wrong direction when I snuck up on the first guy...
Not a fan of automatic endings. They could have flooded the map with Nazis and vehicles leaving you with a fight to get out.
