A 65 year old man and theses scenes and music from ER still brings tears to my eyes. The sadist and the greatest episode ER had in there 15 years. in there special at series end Alex Kingston (Dr. Elizabeth Corday) said that it was so moving to make she could barely make through it without crying. It does have to be one of the very sadist episodes in TV show history. extremely well written and produced. The added touch was Somewhere Over The Rainbow was a great song to use as he is dead and seeing Rachal and Elisabeth with there baby on the beach and the walking through the empty ER. The late Michael Crichton clearly produced his masterpeice
Completely agree. I just realized during my current rewatch that they used this music again in season 10 episode 1 when Carter returns from the Congo, which felt like an interesting choice. On-point too, since it symbolized the end of yet another key chapter for him.
I have the whole 15 season set of ER and watch it every 12-18 months. No matter how many times I watch The Letter or At the Beach, I always cry ugly. Definitely the saddest moment in TV drama history! 😭😭😭
This theme was Mark Greene's theme, and it became Carter's theme. Used in the funeral scene, season 9 episode 1 (Elizabeth Corday in the UK, sold her house and reflected, and at the end of the episode when she moved back to Chicago), season 10 episode 1, when Carter comes back from Africa, and in a conversation with Kem in Chicago(can't remember which episode). Greene passed the torch in more ways than one.
Just watched this episode ( I don’t know how many times) and here it is 18 yrs later an I still cry. The music is just beautiful. What’s the name of it?
Yea ig thats true actually i could only remember hearing the soundtrack in the early seasons but ig it was just season 1 then. The sountrack is a masterpiece tho
I believe Clooney spoke on this subject in an interview. He felt that if he had come back for the funeral, the fact that he had come back to the show, albeit for a cameo, would have overshadowed the moment. This was Mark Greene's episode. He didn't want to ruin it.
@@PGO_Gaming i still dont like their decision tho but i do respect it, i dont like it because the fans would’ve loved to see them pay their respects to mark and it would be an important and meaningful moment in the show and they had to miss out on that
tanks a lot !!!!!... bugs around 0:29 but it's ok... the only bad thing is that all the first piano part is missing. Could you add it ? (sorry for English mistakes)
Sébastien Vassant hello 👋 I did briefly try to add the first piece before I uploaded but it proved quite tricky to remove the other sounds from that section. This was as clean as I could get.
@@andrewgordon5016 thank you for pulling out what you could. Someone in an ER group on Facebook found this and shared it. I have noticed it at various times when characters are leaving. Although it took me years to notice. You can hear it later when neela is in Louisiana for example
pamelajaye No problem. The two scenes I pieced this together from was Mark Greene’s funeral (obviously) and from the start of the season 10 premiere when Carter returns from Africa and Abby asks him for her key back.
@@andrewgordon5016 Carter had a conversation with Kem in Chicago, or Paris, I believe in season 10, at night, in which the music was played again. I just don't know which episode it was.
I could cry. I've waited over 20 years to find a full quality version of this score. THANK YOU!!!

Used when Gallant left for his tour of duty saying goodbye to Neela
@@jhdigital Thanks for that.
Also used in episode 1 of season 11 when Carter’s girlfriend goes back to Africa.

29 April 2021. 11 years I didn’t rewatch the show. I come on TH-cam watch this best of , and I listen this beautiful song. Crying ^^
Look for Karl Jenkins' song "Benedictus"
I really wish there were an ER soundtrack. They made one for Season 1 but that was it.

I love this melody too very sad but so beautiful at the very same time
I was looking for this melody too...thanks I’m so greatful
It really is beautiful, its like a perfect fit for feeling the emotions
and so we say goodbye to a legend in the ER, Dr. Mark Greene.
I love this melody.
Gran personaje, un bello personaje de lo mejor de la serie.
The composer that wrote this is Martin Davich.
He wrote a masterpiece
A very beautiful theme but also very sad.
Hearing this music always brings me tears...
Literally every time i watch this part it makes me cry

I always wondered why Doug and Carol weren't there for Mark's funeral.

@@rubenc1004 Bring back Carol, and the fans would have been looking for Doug, and it would have taken away from the funeral. Same difference.

This song breaks my heart ❤
Can i get this music on spotify
Name of this song? Thanks for advance..
A fan...
RIP Dr Green
Sadly there is no name for this. It was written specifically for the show.
Any time I hear this in the show I always picture this scene... 💔💔💔
I feel like this is the true ending of ER. 😢😢
I think of my Dad who died 6 years ago 😢.
So sorry for your loss...all my respects...
