CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Quaid (Colin Farrell) and Melina (Jessica Biel) fight Lori (Kate Beckinsale) onboard a series of high-tech elevators.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Douglas Quaid (Farrell) is a factory worker in New Shanghai. He's got a stable job and a loving wife (Beckinsale), but upon learning that a company called Rekall could grant him the memory of the ultimate espionage adventure, Douglas decides that a virtual vacation is better than no vacation at all. But in the midst of having the memories implanted, something goes haywire, and the system breaks down. As the authorities close in, Douglas flees, joining forces with a fierce rebel soldier (Jessica Biel) on a mission to track down the head of the resistance (Bill Nighy), and take down the tyrannical Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), a power-crazed leader who seeks to control the entire free world. The harder Douglas fights to defeat Cohaagen, however, the more difficult it becomes for him to determine whether this is real life, or simply all part of the complex Rekall program.

0:12 Kate Beckinsale really nailed it as the Unstoppable agent. That slide into the elevator was awesome. The fight scenes in this movie are well choreographed and edited. I don't understand why people hate it so much.
I absolutely love this movie. I don't get why people hated it so much either.
people were expecting the Mars version. most do not know that Verhoeven version only picks the main idea, and the mars thing doenst come in the short novell. So when they saw this version, they did miss the Mars part.
I didnt hate it, i just think they should had play more with what is real or not, that did work very well in Verhoeven version. in the remake is just plain straight.
As for Kate, she was amazing as killer ruthless machine. I just wanted her to have a single combat with melina like Sharon and Rachel had.
It's because the original is a cult classic, so when comparing the two, this one just doesn't measure up. The more I think about it, I wish they had just renamed the title and changed some elements to separate it from the original. Like instead of a place that grants one to live their dreams, Quaid is just an agent with amnesia or something. That way it can be judged as its own thing.
I will admit, Bryan Cranston and Kate Beckinsale make better villains than the ones from the original.
Yep, much more enjoyable for me then the other one, which I found to be way to violent for my taste.
She's really not a good actress. She's just incredibly beautiful. Re the movie, it just took itself too seriously. The Verhoeven one is a classic because it was campy and fun. This was like the Borne Recall. Way too pretentious.

Fight scenes in the 80-90s were really bad, but now they are almost too good. Too much super-fast, Borne style hyper-aggressive smashing and punching and kicking. It's just too much.

Kate Beckinsale is at her best in this movie and we easily undestand why she has been Esquire sexiest woman alive in 2009, Jessica Biel is handsome but she is not up to her in this particular movie, stunning performance from Kate who, in my opinion is one of the greatest evil babe ever seen, better than the original Lori Quaid portrayed by Sharon Stone, at least in my opinion.

It's such a shame this movie performed poorly. Apparently the director was trying to get funding for an original sci-fi action movie but they wouldn't let him do it so he got stuck with the Total Recall remake. I think if he had been allowed to make his movie - I dare say it might have been similar to this and actually performed well but because it's just the "remake" of Total Recall it got slammed.

Why is it if you use the same title of another movie would changing the names of all the characters in a way that would make this seem different from the original movie make the newer movie seem like a continuation instead of a remake? Could Colin's character be a different name instead of calling him Douglas Quaid? Would this movie been better?
This goes to show you if you really love a movie you don't have to remake it, just go watch the original.
The creative world would be a barren landscape if stories weren't retold.

Kate annoyed me the whole film. Very over the top aggressive and stubborn, and main character who keeps losing even if he suppose to be much stronger than her. Didn't believed in her character any second.

@@serdar213 Just cause JB might seem to have a stronger build, doesn't mean she's more experienced. Kate has done 4 Underworld movies, Total Recall, and Jolt back in 2021, and even Van Helsing in 2004. She has wayyy more experience in fighting than Biel. It's not always about the stronger physique, but also the skill and in that aspect, Kate is wayyy ahead. I could definitely see her whooping Biel.
