One of my favourite games of all time is almost officially here! Hoping this tides you guys over for the imminent release of Trails to Azure! I also want to note that while I mention the port I played (PC) was based on the Kai versions from 2020, it was effectively redone from the ground up by PH3 games - the only real point I wanted to make there is that extra NPCs are in the game, so keep a look out.
I want to thank you again, my friend. You introduced me to Trails. Thanks to you, I found these amazing games and played most of them. My other friend also played Zero and Azure with the Geofront Patch. I loved both of these games and maybe I will play them again before CS 3 and Hajimari. Just for the carry over bonuses. I didn't go blind into both games, but I loved my friends reaction when he reached certain scenes. Just like how I will enjoy watching his reaction when Klaus presses the button. Because of you, I found many new great JRPGs I am currently in the process of playing and I love them. Thank you. For all you did and for the things you are still doing, like the Monthly News round ups. I am so glad I found your channel and Trails with it, as well as Ys.
I heard a lot of hype around this game. That I fear that Cold Steel will feel lackluster in comparison. I only got about 5 chapters into Cold Steel 1 before I decide to stop. So I could go back and watch a story-only cut of the Sky trilogy (because no PS version). Then jump into Zero when the PS4 version came out. I want to experience these games in order (though I'm spoiled with some plot twists for CS 3 and 4). I even deleted my CS 1 save so could start from scratch and the fact I was unaware that you could not change the difficulty during the game and was stuck in hard mode.
@@noahosborne8581 I am currently playing Cold Steel 2 on easy and that one sidequest boss almost wiped my team. I actually played Zero and Azure in 2021 and after I finished Zero I even did the last few strecthes Grandia real quick. Grandia was a bit of a letdown after Zero but still fun. I started Cold Steel 1 almost immediately after I finished Azure. I played a few chapters and then had a pretty long break in between. That is ok. Go at Cold Steel with the right mindset and enjoy it for what it is. I am having fun with Cold Steel and I enjoy the characters for what they are. Crossbell is a great Arc with many amazing characters and plot twists, but Cold Steel is also pretty good. The gameplay is fun and the story also paints another part of the bigger picture. I hope you have a good time with Azure and can enjoy Cold Steel afterwards. Just do it at your own pace and don't force yourself to play when you aren't feeling it. Have fun and just enjoy the ride.
I have a question?, The version of Trails of Cold steel 1 I have is called the "Decisive Edition" and the version for Cold steel II, is the "Relentless Edition" I also have the Lionheart Edition CE for Cold steel I, are these the most up to date versions of these 2 games. Cold steel I and II are pretty difficult because they had some serous difficulties with localizations and translation patches, so after Azure, I want to make sure i can go into cold steel with the most recent and updated version available.
I feel TREMENDOUSLY lucky that i am someone that started and is playing through Trails from Sky trilogy forward for the first time. Dually, we are getting official western releases of the previous missing Crossbell duology, at the same time i am going through this series. This series is so rewarding playing in order and Azure will be the first for me as well. I can easily see why this long series is so beloved. Its something special you cant ever forget. I just finished Azure this morning before work. I was absolutely blown away and can't stop thinking about it today at work. I never thought I'd like a JRPG as much as I liked Azure! I started with the Crossbell Arc, but my first foray into Trails was when I picked up Cold Steel on Vita years ago. I played a few hours and liked it but never got too far into it. Now, I am fully invested and cannot wait to play the Sky Trilogy before jumping into the CS games. I own all of them now and am eager to start my journey with Josh and Estelle! I have a lot of work ahead of me!
I’ve been playing JRPGs since the 90s. Thanks to this channel I recently got into the Trails series. Zero and Azure are easily two of the best JRPGs I’ve ever played. The characters, writing, world-building, and even combat are all top notch. Side quests actually are worth doing since they add to the story. There are even occasional mini games and all the NPCs have realistic dialogue which changes throughout the game. If anyone reading this is a fan of RPGs and has not played Trails, I highly recommend doing so. These games are right up there with final fantasy and dragon quest as far as quality.
I just completed this for the first time last night and damn that ending hit hard that whole final 2 chapters were a Rollercoaster of emotion, revelations, and jaw dropping moments
I am one of the few blessed to start the series in release order and in English translation. Just finished from crossbell arc and heading to cold steel. Can't wait to reunite with SSS heroes again as the ending in Azure is just hard knowing you have to wait few games to see them.
Not to make an early judgement (and I AM VERY excited to play Trails to Azure), but *to me,* I think *The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel quadrilogy* of games is gonna REMAIN as my personal *all time favorite JRPG series.* The cast of characters in that game, their character development/struggles throughout the 4 games and all the awesome epic story moments (and especially the AWESOME *boss battles/music)* all the way to the very end simply *cannot be topped* for me. As for the first *Trails from Zero,* it was a *"7.5/10* okay" game for me (had my issues with it, which I explained in detail in my Steam review that led to that score), but I am expecting much more from Trails to Azure, so let's wait and see what happens when it releases soon! :)
I started "Trails" in January, since then I've fallen in love with the series. After playing the Sky trilogy, Zero and Cold Steel 1 and 2, I'm so excited for this game.
@Tristan I guess, never thought about it tbh. Just checked my achievements to see when I started, and it was December 31st. I owned Sky FC for years and I've tried to get into it a couple times but idk why but this time it just clicked. Then I bought literally every game I could at that moment. Also, picking up a Steam Deck during my Zero play through helped a lot in just being able to play since I didn't have to be at my PC.
Sky SC was the game that made me invested in the Trails series. Azure was the game that made me rever it as a masterpiece. Not only the peak of the Trails series but one of the greatest RPGs of all time on its own. Once again bless Geofront for their tireless work for us fans as well as Durante and co. Even though I played the Geofront patch on PC at the start of this year I ordered the Switch deluxe edition to own the game physically, get some goodies and support this crazy journey of finally being localised. I may be new to the Trails series only starting back in November 2022 but I've been completely enveloped in the world of Zemuria and I'm currently enjoying the start of Cold Steel IV. So glad I finally got into this series.
I played every game in order a couple years back upon release of Cold Steel IV. While I am not the biggest fan of the Cold Steel games, Liberl arc was FANTASTIC but Crossbell......Crossbell, MAN! What a game. I adore this arc so much and its one of the best in JRPG history for sure. My favorite part of the Cold Steel games was seeing my Crossbell characters on screen. Awesome video brother.
Agreed. It was hard for me to even finish CS while 90% of my free time went to Liberal and Crossbell. When talking about the top 10 JRPG of all time SC and Azure ATLEAST deserve a mention

I'm really excited. Got into the series with Cold Steel, then learned it was part of a larger series. I didn't get the chance to play the Sky games (I don't have my own pc) but played Zero when it came out last year on PS. What I love about the series is the characters and how even npcs show up time and again to tie the games together. I loved seeing npcs I had already met through Cold Steel like Coppe, Wendy ('cause she shares my name), and Anton. My daughter will tell you how excited I got when I found little Ken and Nana in Zero talking about their big sis going to the police academy. BTW I was fortunate to preoder the LE. I should be getting a shipping notice any day now.
I got into this series after watching your videos. And I can wholeheartedly say that it is a amazing journey. My playthrough started with Cold Steel I - IV which took me easily 500+ hrs to finish. I can't help it, I just had to read each and every npc dialogue after every major story progression. This game changed my view point on how a game should be made. The love i feel from this game. Ah, cant wait to finish sky arc and then get into crossbell. (currently playing sky 1). It is like one of those games which I wish for to never end.
Hey Kiseki Nut!!! Man, what can I say? You've been instrumental in guiding me through this amazing world that is the Trails Series. Like many others, I started the series with Cold Steel 1 and it was thanks to veteran Kiseki fans who laid a path for me to follow so to get the most out of the series. At the time I wasn't able to go back and play the Sky trilogy due to my lack of a Windows based PC (I'm an Apple guy). Not only that, I'm not much of a PC gamer in general due to my console preference. So I was going with this route: Cold Steel 1 and 2, then the Crossbell duology, then Cold Steel 3 and 4. However I am very pleased to say that I recently got the Steam Deck and I'm in the process of playing Trails in the Sky. And much like what you've said here, Cold Steel introduced me to the Trails series but I LOVED Trails from Zero. I can only imagine the impact Azure will have. I can hardly wait!
Can't wait to finally play this game ! I felt that Zero's beginning was slow but i enjoy the "detective" ambiance in general so i was already captured by the game ! Starting chapter 3, things escalated so "fast" it really caught me even more :D Also, my myopic eyes can't be thankful enough for the UI scale option !
I may have spoilered myself about most of the big moments of Azure over the years, but I'm certain my first playthrough will be a magical experience regardless

Absolutely agree on this being the best of the franchise (I am missing Kuro and Hajimari for I think obvious reasons). It also just makes Cold Steel 3, 4 and the last part of Cold Steel 2 so much better. I'm also jealous of people who will experience it for the first time, but I do feel kinda sad for those who experienced Cold Steel 3 without first experiencing Azure. A lot of stuff in that game just hits differently having played Azure (and Sky) before.
Now that was a fantastic game. Won't play it again, since I don't replay games in general, but even the original PSP translation by Flame made this amazing.
Even though I haven't played Azure yet, it's the game that introduced me to the series to begin with, when I discovered its OST years ago (and was bummed that it wasn't in English). Now I'll finally play it.
I've finished Azure only twice which is the tied lowest number of all the Trails games (tied with Cold Steel 4) which partially makes sense since I first played it with the Geofront's patch a few years back. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll always enjoy that moment in the woods or that ending no matter how many times I see it if anyone's wondering btw Sky FC and SC: played both at least 10 times (across 4 different PCs) the 3rd: played through 4-5 times (if we discount the fact that I beat the final boss only twice simply due to the grinding necessary for the final dungeon Zero: played through 3 and a half times (still haven't finished the official play through) Cold Steel 1 and 2: at least 8 times each (including some "challenge" runs) Cold Steel 3: 3 times Cold Steel 4 and Azure: 2 times
Guys, I am the person Kiseki Nut is jealous of. I finished the Trails in Sky series around Christmas 2022 and am partway through Trails from Zero. I haven't been spoiled aside from watching the 1st and second episodes of the anime and have never played Cold Steel. I feel like I'm somehow crowd surfing on all the pain and hard work of long time trails series enjoyers like a baby being passed to a rescuer at a crowded evacuation point lol
Truth. When I played Cold Steel, I was missing the most important two games of the entire series: Zero/Azure. Sure, Sky is great, and SC really gets into gear for that series. But Azure? Glad I was able to play the Geofront version before they had to pull it. Crossbell is one hell of a place as it is, but the cast of characters and the "oh shit" moment in that game is something to behold. Players are in for a treat when this game finally makes its official release. Crossbell is truly a special place.
i'm very very excited to play azure for the first time soon because it means i can FINALLY play cold steel 3 and 4!!! they've been staring at me in my steam library for almost a year now. also very excited for reverie!!!
I agree with you there TKN. All 11 trails games ( currently on last chapter of Kuro ) has me on a rollercoaster. I loved this series VERY MUCH that no word can describe how good it is to the point that I literally took everything Falcom has to offer from npc dialogues, side quests, items, and many more. No other western rpg or jrpg gives a much more memorable experience than Trails. I am really jealous of players who get to experience and play everything I went through in Trails for he first time. A few years back, I watched a geofront playthrough on TH-cam because I thought what we're getting now was impossible. I definitely don't regret it, but it's so awesome being able to play this arc myself. Zero and Azure are probably my favourite from the whole franchise. I'm picking this up day one, and I can't wait. Then Reverie in July!? I've never experienced two Trails games in one year before, I've been playing these since 2012, and I'm really excited.
You can technically do 3 with the Kuro 1 fan translation, since NIS and Durante just released their port while leaving English to patch later. Can definitely understand waiting for the official thought, waiting for Reverie because I'm used to the dub.
I'm so glad to have discovered the Trails series! I tried getting into FC about a year ago and was a bit turned off by the slow burn, but three months ago I decided to give it another shot and since then I devoured the Sky trilogy and just started Azure. Man, I wish more people gave this series a try.

I cannot wait. I'm going in mostly blind, aside from the stuff that we learn during the Cold Steel saga. Plus the fact that it comes out 5 days after my birthday and just before I have a two week holiday from work... it's an extremely well timed release! I have an idea who an extra NPC is based on who I found in at Sunday School in Zero. As someone who only found this series in 2020, I feel fortunate that I've not had wait as achingly long as the fandom at large. I haven't played all of the Sky saga yet (though I know pretty much all of the events though fandom-osmosis and other media), so that should hopefully tide me over until Kuro and Crimson Sin come our way.
Cold Steel 1 was the game that also got me into the trails series, as i had to wait for Cold Steel 2 to be localized i went and played Sky trilogy and then Zero and Azure with the Geofront patch (thank you for all your work) and loved every moment of it, i just wished i can forget the whole story when i play the NG+ so that i can experience everything all over again. I have played all trails games aside from Reverie and beyond and i cannot say which is the best or my favourite because they are all the best and my personal favourites and best JRPG i have ever played.
That would be my triple dip into Azure and I can't wait! SkySC is very close to hold the first place as the best Kiseki game but Azure is just peak ! I'm so happy that this duology is final officially localized , it will open the door to so many new fans that didn't like CS1 or SkyFC very slow start. I have seen countless new fans starting with Zero and that make me very happy :D
I didn't have the luxury of playing Sky or Crossbell arcs initially, but as fate allowed, I played the 4 Cold Steel games back to back over 4 months. I immediately fell in love with the series, and the missing knowledge demanded I seek out the rest. I'm glad to finally play these and look forward to Reverie as well.
I'm literally about to play Trails from Zero. Normally, I don't expect much from games in general even if it's from a series I like, but you hyped me up a lot for this duology. It's hard to believe there's something better than Cold Steel 4, but I'm always giving games a fair chance.
As someone who recently got into Trails only last year, i absolutely cannot wait for this game. As soon as Zero ended for me i was desperate to want to play Azure. I took a small detour to erebonia in the mean time and as i was playing through Cold Steel 2 I was so intrigued by what was going on in crossbell and i need to know what the hell happened. Only 1 more week and I am absolutely stoked for it.
This is my second fav trail game, after cold steel 4. When I first play this, the story just blow my mind, it is that good. I agree with you when people are playing first time and get the first experience, I wish I have that again.
Since I tend not to play unofficially released games this will be my first time playing Azure. I already know the connection to the events of Cold Steel but, of course, don't know many of the causes behind it and the Crossbell characters. Extra excited to get into it. I hope The Calvard arc will be as awesome, even though, I have to say, I miss Estelle and the Liberl cast.
The moment that I've been waiting for is a few days away. I had the same feeling when re-playing cold steel 1/2 that I'm only looking in from the outside. Sure I have a gist of what went through in zero and azure after I've played cold steel 3/4 but it feels hollow which is why I'm very thankful to all parties involved in bringing this game out west so us long time fans can play and enjoy a first hand experience of what these games have to offer. I'm excited and looking forward to finally playing the 2nd part of the crossbell arc.
Looking forward to replaying this one. Even though I was a bit burned out the first time as I marathoned CS1-3, Crossbell and Nayuta during the pandemic I still loved Azure. I got so much more out of Zero with my recent replay as I went in fresher and can only imagine how much more I’ll get out of Azure this time around.
I love the Trails games for how they take their time with storytelling. So before I played Zero I was worried that the plot and character growth would seem rushed seeing how it is the shortest arc thus far. While Zero did quell that worry mostly, I am anxious to see how everything is wrapped up without seeming hastily put together.

I am so exited to come back to Crossbell in a few days from now as I am currently finishing the last dungeon in TFCS 2 in the Infernal castle after that just a small break then to Azure again. Exited what the hell is the giant tree is.
I played Azure just last year in January and it was a treat for sure. Going into it with the amount of hype I heard surrounding the duology, I wasn't sure if it would hold up but it 100% did. Even though we're not 1 to 1 on pace with the JP releases of trails yet, it shouldn't be understated how incredible it is to be seeing this game localized at an official capacity at all. The crossbell duology is definitely my favorite of the first 3 arcs and I'm hyped for anyone who'll get to play it for the first time this month. Can't wait for my CE to arrive soon.

For some reason I thought it releases later than the 14th, so now I'm even more stoked!! I'm in the camp of people who played the Cold Steel games first, so seeing these events pan out and receiving more context when playing the older games feels so awesome. I liked playing Trails in the Sky and retroactively learning why being a Jager is such a hot button for a noble, or playing Zero and seeing how a character like Dudley influenced commoners like Machias to take up human interest careers. Seeing through Olivier how his power of music parallels Elliot's or how Musse is a callback to Kloe. Conversely, I liked playing Sky the Third and seeing why fans were disappointed when Gaius was revealed as a Dominion and not giving the same amount of importance as Kevin, making me ask what kind of darkness did he overcome other than Barkhorn supposedly dying. Or how it took seven whole games to give Campenella an arc, given his ties to the Grandmaster, which was shorthand for letting the player know that the plot has taken a sharp turn.
I played crossbell arc, both games are amazing, and how each character grows and develops throughout the plot, plus the combat system that takes the best part of turn-based jrpg. My sin is after having finished the Trails in the skies FC, I started at once the crossbell arc, and kept on the trails in the skies SC. I know, I spoiled myself indeed, but, I don't regret it. Someday I will finish TS SC.

Great video!! So i bought cold steel 1 on ps4 before i played it i watched your channel! Omg i played it 1-4 back to back! When zero came out on ps4 played and beat that! I preordered this and supposedly comes next week! This is my first time with azure! I am so stoked! I can not believe ALL gamers don’t play this series hands down best of all time! Final fantasy had that title before but the feels i get from this series are second to none! I have laughed out loud/cried like a baby! The music a part of my daily life now! It is crazy how one series changed me as a person and even as a gamer. The creative team on this series i hope know how many lives they have changed for the better!!! These games helped me survive the isolation of covid with a smile! Much love from mn!!!
Been waiting for this one to come west for a long time. Really excited to finally get to play Azure, almost everyone I have heard talk about it has so much praise for it and usually say it is the best game in the Trails series so far.
I’ve been playing them in order and so far Zero has been my favorite. It’s hard to imagine that Azure could be better so I’m excited. I also went ahead and bought the Cold Steel games so I can be ready for Reverie in July
In terms of what I enjoy, Azure is the peak. The elements I place the most importance in for a Trails game are at their best here. Of course I've no doubt some people will think otherwise, but nothing tops the events I saw in this game.
It doesn't feel like too long ago that I worried I would never get to experience the Crossbell Duology. I jumped in with the Geofront patch (when Zero released), and then did Azure via the spreadsheet translation. Azure really is a special game and I loved it dearly. The newcomers are in for a treat. Still, I'm here for my obligatory army of one hot-take that Trails in the Sky FC is the best game in the series. ;) But really, I love each and every single one of them, and Azure definitely has some really special moments.
I am oh so ready to play this game again. I would gladly undergo surgery to remove part of my brain responsible for memories of Azure, just to replay it again without any knowledge of the events. Both with Zero - peak not only of Trails, but jRPG storytelling overall. Peak of JDK Band productivity too. Azure Arbitrator set on loop - waiting mode on :)

Im playing rigth now Sky SC and I must say its have been a very pleasant surprise, have this one already on my whishlist to purchase the day its release. Im going to dig on this arc the second I finish the Sky trilogy.
Been replaying the trails series again, will be getting the Azure this March then I'll continue may 2nd playthrough on CS 3 and 4 while waiting for the Reverie 🥰
I played all 4 Cold Steel games first when they released on PS4 in America. I recently played Zero and I have this ready as soon as it comes out. I will also be playing Reverie when it comes to America in July if it really releases then. I am VERY grateful for these experiences and have even been putting them over Final Fantasy lately. Again, I have been blessed to play this series and am very excited for any future releases. That being said, Sky needs the same treatment. I currently have no way to play those and I really, really need to. Please bring us remasters of Sky, NIS and Falcom. I must experience them even though I basically have the general idea of what happens.
I first played CS1, finished it in 2 weeks, got hooked, start backtrackking to sky, finished all trilogy in 7 weeks, started zero, finished it in 1 month, then comes Azure. Oh boy, that games was so amazing that I finished it in 1 week, NON STOP, no other games in between, just that game only. Seriously, it's literally the masterpiece in Trails.
Really looking forward to playing Azure since I never have. Zero was really good so I'm expecting the same from Azure which I know I won't be disappointed. It's probably just a dream at this point but I really hope they add the sky games to both the switch and playstation at some point. It would be really nice to be able to play the whole series on one thing.

Sky, Azure, and CS4 are my Trinity of the greatest RPGs of all time. So glad a bunch of new people will be able to play this masterpiece (and I can play it again and again as well haha)
Well its finally here the last arc for the crossbell duology just finished my 3rd playthrough for zero last week now im primed and ready to carry over those bonuses and dialogues to the next game and beyond
Considering they are releasing Reverie in June Kuro should be about a year away which means we are catching up A LOT faster then I think a lot of people thought we would
I've started my journey in the legend of heroes with zero, I can't wait for azure after that I have cold steel 1 and 2 on steam and 3 and 4 on switch. I didn't play the sky trilogy but watch multiples story video before I started zero but I'll buy them someday after I've finish reverie, and may be they'll release them on switch but with the xseed localisation I doubt it...
Still my favorite Trails game to this day. Don't know of any other Trails title that can beat it for me. Second Chapter and Cold Steel IV were both fantastic but don't quite hold up to the epic story of Azure. I don't know if I will get it because it is a long game. It's great that it's finally coming west and can be experienced by so many new players soon.
As someone who played this game almost 2 years ago. I can attest that this is easily the best title in the series. I’m looking forward to replaying the Crossbell games as build up for Reverie
Ok, you convinced me! I will play it. Eventually. I need to finish CS1 first, then CS2, then watch videos for Liberl arc (I really dont think I will muster strength to play those 3), then play Zero, AND THEN I WILL PLAY IT !
I'm currently in the last bits of Trails to Azure after I played the Cold Steel games, Reverie and Zero in this order. And even though I knew a bit of their stories I didn't feel like Cold Steel 3,4 and Reverie spoilered too much to ruin the experiences you'll get out of Zero and Azure.
trails of cold steel I was also my first trails game and it was so much fun and i was hooked ever since and i have played all four of them and i'm currently going through the series again and i'm on sky the 3rd right now and i'll be playing my copy of zero and all of the cold steel games again when i get my copy of azure, now they just need to bring the sky trilogy into the fold

I already played Azure through some.... Interesting means and I normally never play the same game twice. This game is so good I'm making a special exception. The second I get my switch deck I'm getting zero and azure again. Hell, I might get it on PS5 too
Already beat it but I will be supporting this release and buying it day 1. I will return to it one day. I'll go one step further - this is the best JRPG of all time. An absolute must play.
Started this series recently and thought absolutely no way anything was gonna top Sky SC. Boy was i so wrong because Azure did just that. Absolute masterpiece
I'm planning on getting it on launch, since I've pre-ordered it at my local GameStop, but I won't play it on launch, since I haven't finished Sky SC, and therefore I haven't even started Sky the 3rd or Zero. I've finished Sky FC and Cold Steel 1, and I'm working on finishing Sky SC (I'm in Chapter 8). After Sky SC, I'll do Sky the 3rd, and then start the Crossbell arc, though I'll probably at least start Cold Steel 2 sometime during my Azure playthrough. Obviously, I'll do Cold Steel 3 and 4 after I finish all those.

I also want to note that while I mention the port I played (PC) was based on the Kai versions from 2020, it was effectively redone from the ground up by PH3 games - the only real point I wanted to make there is that extra NPCs are in the game, so keep a look out.

My other friend also played Zero and Azure with the Geofront Patch. I loved both of these games and maybe I will play them again before CS 3 and Hajimari. Just for the carry over bonuses. I didn't go blind into both games, but I loved my friends reaction when he reached certain scenes. Just like how I will enjoy watching his reaction when Klaus presses the button. Because of you, I found many new great JRPGs I am currently in the process of playing and I love them. Thank you. I heard a lot of hype around this game. That I fear that Cold Steel will feel lackluster in comparison. I only got about 5 chapters into Cold Steel 1 before I decide to stop. So I could go back and watch a story-only cut of the Sky trilogy (because no PS version). Then jump into Zero when the PS4 version came out. I want to experience these games in order (though I'm spoiled with some plot twists for CS 3 and 4). I even deleted my CS 1 save so could start from scratch and the fact I was unaware that you could not change the difficulty during the game and was stuck in hard mode.
@@noahosborne8581 I am currently playing Cold Steel 2 on easy and that one sidequest boss almost wiped my team. I actually played Zero and Azure in 2021 and after I finished Zero I even did the last few strecthes Grandia real quick. Grandia was a bit of a letdown after Zero but still fun.
I started Cold Steel 1 almost immediately after I finished Azure. I played a few chapters and then had a pretty long break in between. That is ok. Go at Cold Steel with the right mindset and enjoy it for what it is. I am having fun with Cold Steel and I enjoy the characters for what they are.
Crossbell is a great Arc with many amazing characters and plot twists, but Cold Steel is also pretty good. The gameplay is fun and the story also paints another part of the bigger picture. I hope you have a good time with Azure and can enjoy Cold Steel afterwards. Just do it at your own pace and don't force yourself to play when you aren't feeling it. Have fun and just enjoy the ride.

I have a question?, The version of Trails of Cold steel 1 I have is called the "Decisive Edition" and the version for Cold steel II, is the "Relentless Edition" I also have the Lionheart Edition CE for Cold steel I, are these the most up to date versions of these 2 games. Cold steel I and II are pretty difficult because they had some serous difficulties with localizations and translation patches, so after Azure, I want to make sure i can go into cold steel with the most recent and updated version available.
I feel TREMENDOUSLY lucky that i am someone that started and is playing through Trails from Sky trilogy forward for the first time. Dually, we are getting official western releases of the previous missing Crossbell duology, at the same time i am going through this series. This series is so rewarding playing in order and Azure will be the first for me as well. I can easily see why this long series is so beloved. Its something special you cant ever forget. Thanks TKN, your input and videos are always welcome.

Yeah, I'm just working my through the Sky Trilogy now and am so happy I'll be able to experience the story in (basically) chronological order now.
I just finished Azure this morning before work. I was absolutely blown away and can't stop thinking about it today at work. I never thought I'd like a JRPG as much as I liked Azure! I started with the Crossbell Arc, but my first foray into Trails was when I picked up Cold Steel on Vita years ago. I played a few hours and liked it but never got too far into it. Now, I am fully invested and cannot wait to play the Sky Trilogy before jumping into the CS games. I own all of them now and am eager to start my journey with Josh and Estelle! I have a lot of work ahead of me!
I went into Azure with super high expectations, and they were surpassed in every way. It’s hands down the best JRPG I’ve ever played.
I’ve been playing JRPGs since the 90s. Thanks to this channel I recently got into the Trails series. Zero and Azure are easily two of the best JRPGs I’ve ever played. The characters, writing, world-building, and even combat are all top notch. Side quests actually are worth doing since they add to the story. There are even occasional mini games and all the NPCs have realistic dialogue which changes throughout the game. If anyone reading this is a fan of RPGs and has not played Trails, I highly recommend doing so. These games are right up there with final fantasy and dragon quest as far as quality.
I just completed this for the first time last night and damn that ending hit hard that whole final 2 chapters were a Rollercoaster of emotion, revelations, and jaw dropping moments
I am one of the few blessed to start the series in release order and in English translation. Just finished from crossbell arc and heading to cold steel. Can't wait to reunite with SSS heroes again as the ending in Azure is just hard knowing you have to wait few games to see them.
Not to make an early judgement (and I AM VERY excited to play Trails to Azure), but *to me,* I think *The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel quadrilogy* of games is gonna REMAIN as my personal *all time favorite JRPG series.* The cast of characters in that game, their character development/struggles throughout the 4 games and all the awesome epic story moments (and especially the AWESOME *boss battles/music)* all the way to the very end simply *cannot be topped* for me. As for the first *Trails from Zero,* it was a *"7.5/10* okay" game for me (had my issues with it, which I explained in detail in my Steam review that led to that score), but I am expecting much more from Trails to Azure, so let's wait and see what happens when it releases soon! :)

I started "Trails" in January, since then I've fallen in love with the series. After playing the Sky trilogy, Zero and Cold Steel 1 and 2, I'm so excited for this game.

@Tristan I guess, never thought about it tbh. Just checked my achievements to see when I started, and it was December 31st. I owned Sky FC for years and I've tried to get into it a couple times but idk why but this time it just clicked. Then I bought literally every game I could at that moment. Also, picking up a Steam Deck during my Zero play through helped a lot in just being able to play since I didn't have to be at my PC.

Sky SC was the game that made me invested in the Trails series. Azure was the game that made me rever it as a masterpiece. Not only the peak of the Trails series but one of the greatest RPGs of all time on its own. Once again bless Geofront for their tireless work for us fans as well as Durante and co. Even though I played the Geofront patch on PC at the start of this year I ordered the Switch deluxe edition to own the game physically, get some goodies and support this crazy journey of finally being localised.
I may be new to the Trails series only starting back in November 2022 but I've been completely enveloped in the world of Zemuria and I'm currently enjoying the start of Cold Steel IV. So glad I finally got into this series.

I played every game in order a couple years back upon release of Cold Steel IV. While I am not the biggest fan of the Cold Steel games, Liberl arc was FANTASTIC but Crossbell......Crossbell, MAN! What a game. I adore this arc so much and its one of the best in JRPG history for sure. My favorite part of the Cold Steel games was seeing my Crossbell characters on screen. Awesome video brother.
Agreed. It was hard for me to even finish CS while 90% of my free time went to Liberal and Crossbell. When talking about the top 10 JRPG of all time SC and Azure ATLEAST deserve a mention

I'm really excited. Got into the series with Cold Steel, then learned it was part of a larger series. I didn't get the chance to play the Sky games (I don't have my own pc) but played Zero when it came out last year on PS.
What I love about the series is the characters and how even npcs show up time and again to tie the games together. I loved seeing npcs I had already met through Cold Steel like Coppe, Wendy ('cause she shares my name), and Anton. My daughter will tell you how excited I got when I found little Ken and Nana in Zero talking about their big sis going to the police academy.
BTW I was fortunate to preoder the LE. I should be getting a shipping notice any day now.

My playthrough started with Cold Steel I - IV which took me easily 500+ hrs to finish. I can't help it, I just had to read each and every npc dialogue after every major story progression.
This game changed my view point on how a game should be made. The love i feel from this game. Ah, cant wait to finish sky arc and then get into crossbell. (currently playing sky 1).
It is like one of those games which I wish for to never end.
Hey Kiseki Nut!!! Man, what can I say? You've been instrumental in guiding me through this amazing world that is the Trails Series. Like many others, I started the series with Cold Steel 1 and it was thanks to veteran Kiseki fans who laid a path for me to follow so to get the most out of the series. At the time I wasn't able to go back and play the Sky trilogy due to my lack of a Windows based PC (I'm an Apple guy). Not only that, I'm not much of a PC gamer in general due to my console preference. So I was going with this route: Cold Steel 1 and 2, then the Crossbell duology, then Cold Steel 3 and 4. However I am very pleased to say that I recently got the Steam Deck and I'm in the process of playing Trails in the Sky. And much like what you've said here, Cold Steel introduced me to the Trails series but I LOVED Trails from Zero. I can only imagine the impact Azure will have. I can hardly wait!
You've still got Sky to enjoy first! That arc is no slouch either, so enjoy it!
Can't wait to finally play this game ! I felt that Zero's beginning was slow but i enjoy the "detective" ambiance in general so i was already captured by the game ! Starting chapter 3, things escalated so "fast" it really caught me even more :D
Also, my myopic eyes can't be thankful enough for the UI scale option !
I may have spoilered myself about most of the big moments of Azure over the years, but I'm certain my first playthrough will be a magical experience regardless

Absolutely agree on this being the best of the franchise (I am missing Kuro and Hajimari for I think obvious reasons).
It also just makes Cold Steel 3, 4 and the last part of Cold Steel 2 so much better.
I'm also jealous of people who will experience it for the first time, but I do feel kinda sad for those who experienced Cold Steel 3 without first experiencing Azure. A lot of stuff in that game just hits differently having played Azure (and Sky) before.
Now that was a fantastic game. Won't play it again, since I don't replay games in general, but even the original PSP translation by Flame made this amazing.
Even though I haven't played Azure yet, it's the game that introduced me to the series to begin with, when I discovered its OST years ago (and was bummed that it wasn't in English). Now I'll finally play it.
I've finished Azure only twice which is the tied lowest number of all the Trails games (tied with Cold Steel 4) which partially makes sense since I first played it with the Geofront's patch a few years back.
There's no doubt in my mind that I'll always enjoy that moment in the woods or that ending no matter how many times I see it

Guys, I am the person Kiseki Nut is jealous of. I finished the Trails in Sky series around Christmas 2022 and am partway through Trails from Zero. I haven't been spoiled aside from watching the 1st and second episodes of the anime and have never played Cold Steel. I feel like I'm somehow crowd surfing on all the pain and hard work of long time trails series enjoyers like a baby being passed to a rescuer at a crowded evacuation point lol
Truth. When I played Cold Steel, I was missing the most important two games of the entire series: Zero/Azure. Sure, Sky is great, and SC really gets into gear for that series. But Azure?
Glad I was able to play the Geofront version before they had to pull it.
Crossbell is one hell of a place as it is, but the cast of characters and the "oh shit" moment in that game is something to behold. Players are in for a treat when this game finally makes its official release. Crossbell is truly a special place.

I agree with you there TKN. All 11 trails games ( currently on last chapter of Kuro ) has me on a rollercoaster. I loved this series VERY MUCH that no word can describe how good it is to the point that I literally took everything Falcom has to offer from npc dialogues, side quests, items, and many more. No other western rpg or jrpg gives a much more memorable experience than Trails. I am really jealous of players who get to experience and play everything I went through in Trails for he first time. ( PS : Great video as always )
A few years back, I watched a geofront playthrough on TH-cam because I thought what we're getting now was impossible. I definitely don't regret it, but it's so awesome being able to play this arc myself. Zero and Azure are probably my favourite from the whole franchise. I'm picking this up day one, and I can't wait. Then Reverie in July!? I've never experienced two Trails games in one year before, I've been playing these since 2012, and I'm really excited.
You can technically do 3 with the Kuro 1 fan translation, since NIS and Durante just released their port while leaving English to patch later. Can definitely understand waiting for the official thought, waiting for Reverie because I'm used to the dub.

I'm so glad to have discovered the Trails series! I tried getting into FC about a year ago and was a bit turned off by the slow burn, but three months ago I decided to give it another shot and since then I devoured the Sky trilogy and just started Azure.

I cannot wait. I'm going in mostly blind, aside from the stuff that we learn during the Cold Steel saga. Plus the fact that it comes out 5 days after my birthday and just before I have a two week holiday from work... it's an extremely well timed release! I have an idea who an extra NPC is based on who I found in at Sunday School in Zero. As someone who only found this series in 2020, I feel fortunate that I've not had wait as achingly long as the fandom at large. I haven't played all of the Sky saga yet (though I know pretty much all of the events though fandom-osmosis and other media), so that should hopefully tide me over until Kuro and Crimson Sin come our way.

Cold Steel 1 was the game that also got me into the trails series, as i had to wait for Cold Steel 2 to be localized i went and played Sky trilogy and then Zero and Azure with the Geofront patch (thank you for all your work) and loved every moment of it, i just wished i can forget the whole story when i play the NG+ so that i can experience everything all over again. I have played all trails games aside from Reverie and beyond and i cannot say which is the best or my favourite because they are all the best and my personal favourites and best JRPG i have ever played.
Wow, the time really flew by. I'm gonna have to finish Zero this month or so to jump into this!

I didn't have the luxury of playing Sky or Crossbell arcs initially, but as fate allowed, I played the 4 Cold Steel games back to back over 4 months. I immediately fell in love with the series, and the missing knowledge demanded I seek out the rest. I'm glad to finally play these and look forward to Reverie as well.
I'm literally about to play Trails from Zero. Normally, I don't expect much from games in general even if it's from a series I like, but you hyped me up a lot for this duology. It's hard to believe there's something better than Cold Steel 4, but I'm always giving games a fair chance.
As someone who recently got into Trails only last year, i absolutely cannot wait for this game. As soon as Zero ended for me i was desperate to want to play Azure. I took a small detour to erebonia in the mean time and as i was playing through Cold Steel 2 I was so intrigued by what was going on in crossbell and i need to know what the hell happened. Only 1 more week and I am absolutely stoked for it.
This is my second fav trail game, after cold steel 4. When I first play this, the story just blow my mind, it is that good. I agree with you when people are playing first time and get the first experience, I wish I have that again.
Since I tend not to play unofficially released games this will be my first time playing Azure. I already know the connection to the events of Cold Steel but, of course, don't know many of the causes behind it and the Crossbell characters. Extra excited to get into it. I hope The Calvard arc will be as awesome, even though, I have to say, I miss Estelle and the Liberl cast.
The moment that I've been waiting for is a few days away. I had the same feeling when re-playing cold steel 1/2 that I'm only looking in from the outside. Sure I have a gist of what went through in zero and azure after I've played cold steel 3/4 but it feels hollow which is why I'm very thankful to all parties involved in bringing this game out west so us long time fans can play and enjoy a first hand experience of what these games have to offer. I'm excited and looking forward to finally playing the 2nd part of the crossbell arc.

Looking forward to replaying this one. Even though I was a bit burned out the first time as I marathoned CS1-3, Crossbell and Nayuta during the pandemic I still loved Azure. I got so much more out of Zero with my recent replay as I went in fresher and can only imagine how much more I’ll get out of Azure this time around.
I love the Trails games for how they take their time with storytelling. So before I played Zero I was worried that the plot and character growth would seem rushed seeing how it is the shortest arc thus far. While Zero did quell that worry mostly, I am anxious to see how everything is wrapped up without seeming hastily put together.
Crossbell has a smaller cast to make up for it compared to Sky and especially Cold steel s cast sizes.

I am so exited to come back to Crossbell in a few days from now as I am currently finishing the last dungeon in TFCS 2 in the Infernal castle after that just a small break then to Azure again. Exited what the hell is the giant tree is.
I played Azure just last year in January and it was a treat for sure. Going into it with the amount of hype I heard surrounding the duology, I wasn't sure if it would hold up but it 100% did. Even though we're not 1 to 1 on pace with the JP releases of trails yet, it shouldn't be understated how incredible it is to be seeing this game localized at an official capacity at all. The crossbell duology is definitely my favorite of the first 3 arcs and I'm hyped for anyone who'll get to play it for the first time this month. Can't wait for my CE to arrive soon.

For some reason I thought it releases later than the 14th, so now I'm even more stoked!!
I'm in the camp of people who played the Cold Steel games first, so seeing these events pan out and receiving more context when playing the older games feels so awesome.
I liked playing Trails in the Sky and retroactively learning why being a Jager is such a hot button for a noble, or playing Zero and seeing how a character like Dudley influenced commoners like Machias to take up human interest careers. Seeing through Olivier how his power of music parallels Elliot's or how Musse is a callback to Kloe.
Conversely, I liked playing Sky the Third and seeing why fans were disappointed when Gaius was revealed as a Dominion and not giving the same amount of importance as Kevin, making me ask what kind of darkness did he overcome other than Barkhorn supposedly dying. Or how it took seven whole games to give Campenella an arc, given his ties to the Grandmaster, which was shorthand for letting the player know that the plot has taken a sharp turn.
I played crossbell arc, both games are amazing, and how each character grows and develops throughout the plot, plus the combat system that takes the best part of turn-based jrpg. My sin is after having finished the Trails in the skies FC, I started at once the crossbell arc, and kept on the trails in the skies SC. I know, I spoiled myself indeed, but, I don't regret it. Someday I will finish TS SC.
The absolute gold of the series. I adore Liberl, I love Erebonia, but Crossbell... Just an unforgettable experience every playthrough.

I preordered this and supposedly comes next week! This is my first time with azure! I am so stoked! I can not believe ALL gamers don’t play this series hands down best of all time! Final fantasy had that title before but the feels i get from this series are second to none! I have laughed out loud/cried like a baby! The music a part of my daily life now! It is crazy how one series changed me as a person and even as a gamer. The creative team on this series i hope know how many lives they have changed for the better!!! Been waiting for this one to come west for a long time. Really excited to finally get to play Azure, almost everyone I have heard talk about it has so much praise for it and usually say it is the best game in the Trails series so far.

In terms of what I enjoy, Azure is the peak. The elements I place the most importance in for a Trails game are at their best here. Of course I've no doubt some people will think otherwise, but nothing tops the events I saw in this game.
It doesn't feel like too long ago that I worried I would never get to experience the Crossbell Duology. I jumped in with the Geofront patch (when Zero released), and then did Azure via the spreadsheet translation. Azure really is a special game and I loved it dearly. The newcomers are in for a treat.
Still, I'm here for my obligatory army of one hot-take that Trails in the Sky FC is the best game in the series. ;) But really, I love each and every single one of them, and Azure definitely has some really special moments.

I am oh so ready to play this game again. I would gladly undergo surgery to remove part of my brain responsible for memories of Azure, just to replay it again without any knowledge of the events. Im playing rigth now Sky SC and I must say its have been a very pleasant surprise, have this one already on my whishlist to purchase the day its release. Im going to dig on this arc the second I finish the Sky trilogy.
I haven't played Zero yet because I want to binge Trails games like a madman.

Been replaying the trails series again, will be getting the Azure this March then I'll continue may 2nd playthrough on CS 3 and 4 while waiting for the Reverie 🥰
I played all 4 Cold Steel games first when they released on PS4 in America. I recently played Zero and I have this ready as soon as it comes out. I will also be playing Reverie when it comes to America in July if it really releases then. I am VERY grateful for these experiences and have even been putting them over Final Fantasy lately. Again, I have been blessed to play this series and am very excited for any future releases. That being said, Sky needs the same treatment. I currently have no way to play those and I really, really need to. Please bring us remasters of Sky, NIS and Falcom. I must experience them even though I basically have the general idea of what happens.
I first played CS1, finished it in 2 weeks, got hooked, start backtrackking to sky, finished all trilogy in 7 weeks, started zero, finished it in 1 month, then comes Azure. Oh boy, that games was so amazing that I finished it in 1 week, NON STOP, no other games in between, just that game only. Seriously, it's literally the masterpiece in Trails.
One of the best RPGs ever and I'm glad more people will get to experience it. Never thought this day would come.
Really looking forward to playing Azure since I never have. Zero was really good so I'm expecting the same from Azure which I know I won't be disappointed. It's probably just a dream at this point but I really hope they add the sky games to both the switch and playstation at some point. It would be really nice to be able to play the whole series on one thing.

Sky, Azure, and CS4 are my Trinity of the greatest RPGs of all time. So glad a bunch of new people will be able to play this masterpiece (and I can play it again and again as well haha)
If I ever get memory loss, I'll be sure to remember to play this game again. Definitely my favorite game from my favorite game series
Well its finally here the last arc for the crossbell duology just finished my 3rd playthrough for zero last week now im primed and ready to carry over those bonuses and dialogues to the next game and beyond

Considering they are releasing Reverie in June Kuro should be about a year away which means we are catching up A LOT faster then I think a lot of people thought we would
I've started my journey in the legend of heroes with zero, I can't wait for azure after that I have cold steel 1 and 2 on steam and 3 and 4 on switch. I didn't play the sky trilogy but watch multiples story video before I started zero but I'll buy them someday after I've finish reverie, and may be they'll release them on switch but with the xseed localisation I doubt it...
Still my favorite Trails game to this day. Don't know of any other Trails title that can beat it for me. Second Chapter and Cold Steel IV were both fantastic but don't quite hold up to the epic story of Azure. I don't know if I will get it because it is a long game. It's great that it's finally coming west and can be experienced by so many new players soon.
As someone who played this game almost 2 years ago. I can attest that this is easily the best title in the series. I’m looking forward to replaying the Crossbell games as build up for Reverie
Ok, you convinced me! I will play it. Eventually. I need to finish CS1 first, then CS2, then watch videos for Liberl arc (I really dont think I will muster strength to play those 3), then play Zero, AND THEN I WILL PLAY IT !
I'm currently in the last bits of Trails to Azure after I played the Cold Steel games, Reverie and Zero in this order. And even though I knew a bit of their stories I didn't feel like Cold Steel 3,4 and Reverie spoilered too much to ruin the experiences you'll get out of Zero and Azure.
trails of cold steel I was also my first trails game and it was so much fun and i was hooked ever since and i have played all four of them and i'm currently going through the series again and i'm on sky the 3rd right now and i'll be playing my copy of zero and all of the cold steel games again when i get my copy of azure, now they just need to bring the sky trilogy into the fold

I already played Azure through some.... Interesting means and I normally never play the same game twice. This game is so good I'm making a special exception. The second I get my switch deck I'm getting zero and azure again. Hell, I might get it on PS5 too
I love Azure, it was my nr1 Trails game for ages... But I think Kuro might be a contender to take that place for me.
Already beat it but I will be supporting this release and buying it day 1. I will return to it one day. I'll go one step further - this is the best JRPG of all time. An absolute must play.

I'm planning on getting it on launch, since I've pre-ordered it at my local GameStop, but I won't play it on launch, since I haven't finished Sky SC, and therefore I haven't even started Sky the 3rd or Zero. I've finished Sky FC and Cold Steel 1, and I'm working on finishing Sky SC (I'm in Chapter 8). After Sky SC, I'll do Sky the 3rd, and then start the Crossbell arc, though I'll probably at least start Cold Steel 2 sometime during my Azure playthrough. Obviously, I'll do Cold Steel 3 and 4 after I finish all those.
Hello I can't wait to get started on azure for the first time! On a side note I am waiting to receive my limited edition of NIS America . Do you happen to know if there are any protective plastic or acrylic cases that would fit the limited editions for zero, azure and cS4?
