Thank you Dr. Nader. Expat Canadian here, living in a place where in-person therapy is simply impossible. I've tried one of the online sites (wont name name's... but one can guess), with mixed results. To be honest, your video series is more helpful than any paid online therapy I've had, and pretty much up there with the in-person counselling I had in the past. Like many many others I just wanted to express my gratitude for your efforts and for providing these wonderful videos.
Love this video. I’m in a tougher episode of depression right now and trying to stop the negative downward spiral. I took notes and think this video / triangle image makes alot of sense, like you said a road map. Watching it i thought about the psychology book constructive living in dealing with hard spots in life (behavior side of the triangle, i would sum up is the focus in the book). It’s hard going to work and people ask if your okay, it’s like yeah I’m not in a good mood actually or I just say “I’m alright” it’s like yeah I’m here for 8 hours I don’t want to talk about it and just want to work and get home and have down time. Anyways, thanks for your videos man - I really appreciate them. I’m trying to stop the downward spiral and make it back to more content and some happier days. Behavior wise, I’m gonna run a few mornings a week, fish oil, job hunt. Thoughts wise, I’m gonna try and keep reminding myself - it’s not over, I still have time and potential left in the tank and can create a more fulfilling life for myself - but it’s just gonna take time. Thanks again.
I'm glad you found the video helpful. Hopefully, the other videos in the series will also be useful to you - could end up being 15-20+ videos, so there's a lot more to come. I wish you the best in your efforts to feel better.
Thank you very much for this video (and for the whole channel in general)! I like how clear your explanations are, how you focus on the practical sides of dealing with depression and how you show why your advice would work. I was diagnosed with mixed anxiety-depressive disorder, but I don't currently have an access to a therapist. However, I feel like I'm currently at the point of my life where I can definitely live with all the diagnoses I received in the past and your videos help me a lot when I feel a little bit down. I notice the patterns you explain in your videos and I can break them with proper self-care. Finally, I also appreciate your delivery style, it's very neat and clean, there are no distractions and unnecessary editing. And you are a very eloquent person!
Dr. Nader, Thank you very much for taking the time to create such insightful videos! Your kindness and words of encouragement go a very long way! ....To all the depression/anxiety disorder sufferers, I wish you all health and a speedy recovery! 🎉
Dr. Rami, I can't thank you enough! I really appreciate your dedication and clear explanation, I have been following you for a while now and started making real gradual progress after being numb and lifeless for so long, I am bitterly suffering, however, I am very lucky I stumbled upon your videos, looking forward to watching the rest of the series.
Dear Doc: Thanks for the quality of these videos. They have really helped me put things in perspective. I feel that I am finally digging myself out of a very deep hole.
That negative spiral and the triangle seems to also fit with anxiety too, yes? I suffer from health anxiety (which typically leads to clinical depression, and sometimes vice versa). Anyway, seems like with HA its the same thing...some unhelpful "behavior" leads to more negative thoughts which leads to worry/emotion. Or the other way around, starting with worry. Thanks again for these videos, they are so very helpful and well presented...direct, practical, clinical and not excessively jargony or theoretical. I'm planning to go through the whole series. Although I am now in a bout of both depression and HA, I will start with the depression videos. I find when my mood lifts the other (behavior or thinking) stuff is easier to tackle.
Looking forward to the rest of the series! I just wonder what you think about depression caused by stress which hits you out of nowhere even when you're being functional and going after your goals.
Stress can certainly be a trigger for depression because it saps energy and makes it harder to complete goals that a person usually completes. I'll be talking more about that in one of the next 2 videos in this series.
Just finished this and will look into other parts.. certainly my depression comes from my healthy anxiety and stress.. like i would notice some sensation in body and worry non stop them get depression but the initial worry about the problem vanishes but depression stays.. also some unknown/unconscious stress I was building up will take over.. I know when I get hit with depression - it feels like suddenly u get this empty feeling like "what's wrong? Why this feel not normal?" Then u will go on about ur life and do all the things yet u notice that empty feel and then worry more about it's not disappearing and then boom it's gets worse and worse

You are correct - the CBT triangle works for anxiety as well.
Thank you! This video was very helpful.

Like it very clear
Glad you found it helpful. Hopefully you will find the rest of the video series useful as well.
Does this triangle technique work with ahedonia?
Yes, same principles apply.
