Thank you for coming up with Kolam podu project.... I am first time on this channel and visited websit and very much amazed on the detailing with respect to Kolam. My search for learning kolam as a beginner ended with your work making it easy to begin with the kolam books. Have ordered the full kit right away and waiting excitedly to begin this happy learning, Kolam=Peace😀...
It’s not Margazhi time now, but festivity within is ever green. Starting my 30 days kollam tradition. Thank you for giving a road to my long longed thoughts.
Vedic and Hindu Traditions have scientific reasons to bring about good health, improves immunity. It also makes the society as a whole being safe. This video link was started in 2019 by Bharghavi Mani.. She looked familiar to me but not really known to me.. Her message in this lovely video has captured a beautiful concept of explaining the reasons on why we do, what we do and how we follow age old traditions. Thara Narasimhan Houston
Such beautiful msg said in the most beautiful and best way... you just put a smile on my face ka.. you just made my margazhi beautiful as we malaysian look at margazhi as an unlucky month..
Thank you so much :) Now, I am not sure why its considered an "Unlucky" month, but I can throw some light on why they might suggest not proceeding with anything auspicious. Promise to cover this subject in the following videos.. Keep watching :)
@@kolampodu I not sure y too.. but we are not allowed to start a new thing this month, like shifting to new house or buy a car, all we know a lot people fast this month but I dunno y...
We offer hald-kumkum on traditional marathi dotted rangoli which is made of special white stones found in rivers, my mother says that it is inauspicious if we don’t offer haldi-kumkum to rangoli.
Because it’s the women who give birth. Men are also usually up early during this time, however since our topic of discussion is Kolams, we have spoken about the benefits for women.
As much as one loves Margazhi traditions, one also has to see that it is problematic as most of these traditions are now or even back then forced upon women only. Claiming that the exercise gained from drawing kolams are only beneficial to women or pregnant women misses the point that these exercises can be beneficial to men too. Why is it that most of these Margazhi rituals are done only by women? The way it is presented in this video will only strengthen society's skewed notions which will then use the arguments to continue to force women to be cultural markers and bearers while men have more freedom. Kolams can and could be about men too. That should be the healthy way forward.

Depends on where its used.. The rule of thumb is its ok to use where the feet doesn't touch.
Why did our smart ancestors deem these scientific reasons fit only for women? Don't men need fresh Margazhi air? 🤔
