I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart .. I am from Kerala and we don't draw kolams there.. but I've been amused by these kolams right from my childhood.. And now getting married into a Tamil family , I just love the way the ladies draw kolams here for every function ... This is something I've been longing to learn .. Your videos have so much detailing that it's giving me hands on knowledge ... And, thanks for talking about 'Umikari' too.. it took me back to my summer vacations ,when we used to go to my granny's place and yes we used to use it to brush teeth ... You are doing a great job ... Looking forward to your videos ...
I have been drawing kolams with arisi maavu for the past 3 years, I generally take a portion (1-2kg) and grind it in the local mill (machine, as we call it), where they run it only once through it. Normally for arisi maavu, you have to run it twice or thrice for getting a fine powder and if you tell them to grind the rice once cycle, I get the perfect texture for the kola maavu.
This is so informative Ms. Bhargavi! I really enjoy the little bits of information that you looked for in different fields and your super clean explanation tops it all! The aesthetic of your page is so clean and I absolutely love your content ! Keep going!May God bless you abundantly!
Very interesting......Bhargavis research has educated us on an important aspect of a daily routine ..We live in a village and village kolams are always bright and white .Now , Bhargavi has given us 'edible'options ..And yes!! We grew up using umikari as tooth cleanser .A little salt too was added to it .! Thank you Bhargavi .
The more I’m researching, the more I realise we had the best and just didn’t realise the worth of it... anyway, the way I look at it... if more people started reflecting on what I’ve shared, I’m sure they’d make more informed choices...
On the way :) production has been getting affected big time because of the lockdown so we are slightly behind schedule and didn’t see the point to put up something half baked for the sake of it .... but yes they are all there in the pipeline :)
Hi daily one Kolam the contest is we have to draw any of the kolam if the particular day with in day complete and send you right ?we sent but no response
Nice..if rice, wheat, other grains like yellow split moon dal, green gram, brown etc etc if fried well and then blended into fine paste we can get many colors too
I could never use the sacred vibhuti for a floor design that could be stepped on. Being a culturally rooted program, perhaps the religious aspect should also be considered. Lovely designs and interesting format!
Thanks for the feedback ma'am. Viboothi is surely auspicious and sentiment and I completely understand where you are coming from. Typically this option is used for Poojai room, however not everyone seems to have such sentiments. I personally believe that no form or representation of God should be drawn on the floor, however, its celebrated that way in many cultures. When I am to discuss options, I need to discuss the merits and otherwise purely based on reasoning, and not mix sentiments with main content. Trust you understand my predicament too...
I like the information you give. I would like to see big kolam drawings on floor. Now a days people are directly using the white rangoli powder to make kolam. I also wanted to know about the brown colour used , how it is made
There are enough videos displaying large Kolams on the floor. On this channel, I am focussing on addressing the pain points (time, space and design knowledge) and finding ways to enhance people's design skills, as this particular type of Kolams is very good to enhance one's creativity and problem solving skills
