I had NO idea FCPX had a comparison viewer! Thank you for showing that off in this video, Dylan. Can't say enough good things about how much I've learned from your channel man
Ah, my favourite Friday-Show is on! :D I didn’t know about the waveforms either. I always switched to the list view. Unfortunately, too many people don’t know how to take full advantage of the index. Great tips!
more tips please!!! i’ve been using final cut pro since it launched 1999!!! but there are so many easier tricks that you are showing that makes the work flow so much easier…
All great stuff as usual! Missing clips is great. I also like setting up the shot matching color grade workspace and save it for just that. As well as have one for just color grading.
Great, video video, Dylan. Quick question, where do you typically like to keep your audio levels? I’ve read that we should keep them between -12 and -6.
For some reason, I didn't realize you can simply click on the "Browser" button to show/hide the Browser/library. It wasn't presented as one of your hidden features, but was one of the best ones for me. I was digging into menus for this, since I can't recall the Keyboard shortcut. Also, the search for "missing" is perfect. Thanks 👍🏻
Thanks for the tips Dylan I commented yesterday about not being able to export … long story short did everything nothing happen … I wiped my hard drive And reinstalled and now it’s working thank god because I just started getting into Final Cut and I have premiere and resolve but. Final Cut is king
@@TheFinalCutBro that sacrifice was worth the happiness I have now 😂😂😂 thanks for the videos and keep them coming now I can get back to binge watching your videos for more of the Final Cut knowledge… thank you Final Cut bro !!!
It’s odd that the “show/hide browser” button is on the right side of the screen. That was a new find for me. Plus Seeing what effect is missing is super helpful! That’s one I’m gonna find super helpful. And actually seeing how many decibels the audio is peeking over 0 is a nice little nugget!
An excellent tutorial. Thank you. Please excuse me if I give a BIG shout out to Colin (tech support) and Pixel Film Studios who dialled in remotely yesterday and sorted out my PFS plugins which all died on me (finger trouble on my part, I'm sure). Please keep the excellent videos coming. We need something over here in Scotland to warm us up.
I have a project which gives me the "Missing or offline titles, effects..." warning upon export, but also doesn't show anything in the Index field under "Missing." Any ideas?
That’s a good question! As far as I’m aware, not really. Typically I will just slow the clip down as needed, then trim it to the underlying layers. But it would make a lot of sense if you could snap the retiming to a lower clip. Might be worth sending in as a suggestion to Apple with their feedback page!
I know it is a long shot that you see this question (and act on it)... but can you make a video on how to properly leverage 32-bit float audio from the Rode Wireless Pro recordings in Final Cut Pro? Everyone that has made a related guide is not really showing the details I'd like to see. Like importing the audio file directly into FCP without losing anything and adjusting everything natively in FCP. I want to take full advantage of the audio files but it feels as if I don't have the full audio "spectrum".
Unfortunately I don’t have access to anything that records 32-bit float just yet. I do know however, FCP doesn’t know how to properly work with 32-bit float just yet, and so if you want the maximum flexibility you will want to use some other audio processing software. That said, if you follow this video for syncing audio, then later you can swap out the audio for properly processed 32-bit float and still keep all your changes! th-cam.com/video/kX65fh7z43o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AK05rqtb39Xgtap_
If you’re installing them directly into the Final Cut Application package, this will delete your plugins every time you install an update. I’d instead make sure you’re installing them into Movies > Motion Templates. This will keep them from being deleted, and is overall a much better option. I’ve noticed several videos online showing to install it directly into the FCP application bundle, and this is definitely not what should be happening. If you are having the plugins go missing even though they are installed into your Motion Templates folder, then there’s a chance the plugin developers need to release an update. This is extremely common to see with companies that have external installers, like pixel films studios. So I’d just check with them if that’s the case. Hope that helps!
Have you done a video on how to remix songs? So many tiktok editors do this Im assuming there's more options then just slowing it down, and adding cathedral+bass boost like how to use the channel eq to enhance the song itself rather then only making dialogue more clear
Can someone please acknowledge that with 10.7.1 clips go missing all the time now? I'm constantly looking for files that I put into FCPX that suddenly go AWOL. How can you update your software and have such a silly mistake like losing files? It's almost like they need to create problems they can later fix so there's this constant perpetual 'improving' that's going on, a trend I see a lot with apple products.

So many good tips man! Searching for the word "missing" in the index window is such a time saver! 😄 Also, really appreciate the shoutout 🙏🏼
That missing search is amazing. Thank you for this!
You're the man Dylan. These are great tips.
Great, video video, Dylan.
Quick question, where do you typically like to keep your audio levels?
I’ve read that we should keep them between -12 and -6.
I’m not an audio guy, so I’m not a good person to ask. But I’ve heard the exact same thing!
Thanks Dylan!

Glad you got it up and running! Wish it didn’t have to be wiped though, that’s a bummer.

Hey Dylan, I have a question not related to this video. Is there a way to snap the custom-speeded secondary timeline clip to the main timeline clips?

How do you edit and upload spatial video recorded on Apple Vision Pro
I have no idea! Wish I had a Vision Pro to find out 😂

Hey Dylan, how do I prevent templates that I’ve downloaded to be missing after each FCP update?

Holy cow, tip 1.
Tip 3 AUDIO LEVELS: If you need to reset the counters while playing the project, just click on the numbers in red to reset to zero.
