    I have a UK Volvo V70 and you are right about the position of the amplifier it's still on the right hand side so my right side is the drivers side in my case but the amplifier is on the right hand side in left and right hand drive cars I hope you find this interesting and take care

    Was thinking of getting a new amp. Can't I just hook a new amp to the battery, and just get an adapter for the new amp? Or cut cables for the speakers on oem connector and connect to speakers outputs on the new amp?

    Is the power cable going into the back of the amp the same as the antenna cable behind the radio

    Hello, I have a Volvo s60 with a HU-603 radio. Recently, the speakers just stopped being loud except the small speaker by the driver door handle. You can hear sounds from the speakers buy they're not loud, what can I do? Thank you

      John, could it be the volume knob is not working properly ? Try this th-cam.com/video/wUleVk4IyDg/w-d-xo.html
      Otherwise, if it's a more technical issue, maybe the connector is loose behind the radio, or perhaps something failed inside the unit - on the 603 this is rare (first time I hear) so may try replacing it with a used one from a car the same year - have the car battery disconnected during the replacement

    hi, just installed hu803, 300w amp, and center speaker. No sound from speakers but sound from center speaker. Do I need to add a fuse somewhere?

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not have to add a fuse on my car with HU603 factory. If the head unit is correctly connected, I would suspect the amp is blown - see if it has any 'white' corrosion at the bottom, it gets water inside from the carpets snow or from water leaking under the carpets from blocked roof drains. May try to open it - tiny torx - see if it has a ceramic fuse inside

    • @MrKushinator420

      @@Peppermint1 Hey so I looked and fuse 17 says audio amplifier in my 2001. I connected it, and after a few seconds all speakers came on for about 2 seconds, then only center channel again. I have aftermarket amp powering the speakers, I think this is messing with it somewhere. Fuse not blown.

    I've got a doggy amp in one V70, so was going to swap it out with one I'm planning to scrap. Spent ages looking for the amplifier "under the driver's seat". Thanks to your video I now know I haven't got one in the 2.4 petrol - I found the bracket holes you pointed out, and there's no bracket.
    BUT... Can anyone clarify where exactly the amp would have been? In the video it's visible normally, or is it hidden under a carpet?
    Second question - if I'm only getting the central speaker sometimes, what else could be wrong if there's no secondary amplifier?

    • @frankleonhardt3337
      @frankleonhardt3337 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Answering my own question!
      The D5 has one, and you can feel it if you wind the seat back and stick you hand under the gap in the carpet. The cooling fins on the top are obvious. And yes, the amplifier IS under the carpet if it's there. The video has the carpet removed, or the amp removed and placed on top of the carpet.
      So if you have one, it's easy to find (but not so easy to remove without the video). Thank's Peppermint!
      I juggled the connectors on mine and it's back to working, FWIW.

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@frankleonhardt3337 Thanks for the clarification Frank. On the North American market (US, CAN) with the steering on the left side, the amp is located under front pass seat - it is usually on top of the carpet but as you mention, the seat needs pushed back all the way then we can look with a flashlight or touch by hand see if there's one. On the UK market (right hand driving) along with I assume Australian, Japan and perhaps other RHD cars I've heard it would be located under drivers seat - basically same location as on the US market. As you mention, usually if the car is equipped with an amplifier and the HU-803 or HU-850 head units, this amp will drive the sound in all speakers except the center dash one which is driven directly from the audio unit. So if all speakers but the dash one stop working, it's usually an amplifier problem (or wiring to the amp problem). Anyhow, good to hear you made it work again Cheers

    Helo! Can you fit an amplifier and a HU803 with sub to a basic sound setup? Thankyou!

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am running a small subwoofer from the rear speakers wires on the HU-803 amplifier, but I have to say the 300W amplifier is too weak to power even a small sub, I think it gets about 50W/channel, so it's not really doable, the sound is too weak. Really needs a separate aftermarket amplifier to properly power a subwoofer. Cheers

      Can i fit a HU803 amplifier 300W to my HU603 system? Is it plug&play? Will it make a difference?

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CCIK3 Yes, it's plug & play. But it won't make a clear difference. See this video th-cam.com/video/GPzk5p9Rrd4/w-d-xo.html
      This is a comparison between the HU-6xx unit and HU-8xx unit - however keep in mind the phone camera cannot properly record the sound as it sounds in real life th-cam.com/video/XUTn6N2QAdw/w-d-xo.html
      The real difference is installing the HU-8xx head unit, even with the base speakers it's a completely different sound

      @@Peppermint1 Hi! Regarding to this topic; can the original amp cables be used to run an aftermarket amp? Meaning that I would extend the stock cables from under the seat for example to the trunk where I would put a new amp. Is this reasonable or how would you install a new amp with the original head unit? Cheers

      @@euanbett6759 There may be many reasons, 1. check if the plug from speakers is plugged into the radio, 2. wires from speakers may be cut somewhere, 3. The radio may be broken ( plug in another hu-650 or another hu-6xx radio if someone in the area has one for sale), 4. Check the speakers in the car, my car didn't have half the speakers (had 4 out of 8) . 5. If you have an amplifier under the seat, make sure it has a six pin plug and a plug from the speakers and check the same plugs at the radio. Sorry for my poor English :)
