One cool thing I noticed in the flashbacks with Flamme, is that the people are dressed in Romanesque style clothes. This makes sense since it was literally a thousand years earlier. So fashion and architecture would be from a different era.
Small little detail : even though this anime looks speed up from this episodes but the real is the time line has slower by the time it close to end. God this anime is magic. One of the best anime I seen on my life.
wtf , how did I go reading the whole manga and watching the anime without noticing that detail......My brain totally checked out of that detail during Flamme's flashbacks. Either way , thanks for pointing that out, It really goes to show how much her time with Flamme meant to Freiren to still be keeping those earrings.
When "Zoltraak" and "Fear brought me this far" hits in one Episode. Awesome. 10:31 When fern do attack against Lügner, her hair blow everytime in a other direction :D
You may not have noticed, but Sousou no Frieren (Frieren:Journey's End) is the same words (in Japanese) for Frieren Slayer. If you listen, you can here the Demon say 'sousou no Frieren' when referring to her Demon Slayer name. A clever play on words for the title to this manga/anime.
Lugner vs Fern and Stark vs Linie was such an epic fight. It's really interesting to see how the demons' rigid thinking always spells their downfall. Lugner thought just because Fern had less mana and experience he would defeat her. Linie was sure that copying Eisen's moves is enough to beat Stark, his apprentice. Aura arrogantly assumed she is older and therefore has more mana than Frieren, not even entertaining the idea that an elf (who have incredibly long lives) could be older than her. All these mistakes seem very basic and in other anime they can easily pass as poor writing, if it wasn't for the flashback scenes with Flamme and Frieren, where Flame does a wonderful job explaining the nature of demons, how they think, how their "society" is organized, why it's such an outlandish concept for them to conceal their mana, to appear weak before other demons. Another interesting bit - Flamme refers to the act of concealing one's mana as something shameful, which implies there's a certain degree of "honor" in fighting/dueling another mage head on, without using such underhanded tactics as masking your true power. One of the best parts about these 2 episodes is Flamme's reveal that her favourite spell is the one that creates a field of flowers, leading to Frieren learning it and creating a field of flowers at Flamme's final resting place. Despite all the badass fights and displays of magic, the series stays true to itself, showing us how important the little moments are, what a powerful impression these make on Frieren. Frieren telling Aura to end herself was probably one of the coldest lines so far in this anime, pure epicness. She never lost her cool once during the fight, being certain she will prevail against yet another demon, just like Flamme taught her so long ago. Thank you for the heartfelt reaction ❤
Also small spoiler, why himmel love flowers in his grave can be seen on the last episode of this anime. That's a beautiful reason. Also why he love frieren explained in this episode too.
I will say that the elf age didn't matter to Arua. Since Friern live a quiet life, and her only note in history was the hero party, she assume as a mage she not dome much of anything, and not train her magic at all
If you go back and check the small flashback that happens during the scene with HIMmel and co you see a single scene of the party fighting aura before and Himmel being the one who slashed Aura before she could use the scales on the group. He definitely knew how dangerous the scales Aura had was.
I'm guessing her saying "I'm stronger than Aura the Executioner" a couple of episodes ago was not just a brag but just a cold hard fact ^^. One of the best mic... well, I guess head drop ending in recent fiction history !
Nothing is more wholesome than Frieren honoring Himmel’s ideologies even after his death. It’s crazy how Heiter despite being just a human has at least half of Frieren’s mana
Episode 10 was one of the most satisfying anime episodes I've seen in my life. The flashbacks with Flamme, the buildup of tension, the music, and at last the amazing emotional payback at the end when we see Frieren's insane amount of mana explode in full display! 10/10 This show is peak and it's made with so much love! ❤ Fern and Stark's battles were very epic too! I just love all of it!
Regarding the flashback at 24:38: The images are from Himmel's party on their quest to defeat the Demon king. That is 0.5 seconds in length and therefore 100 times shorter than the 50 second sequence of Frieren living after the death of Flamme. Compare this to her life of 1000 years (approx) and their 10 year journey, and you'll notice it is the same ratio. It is a beautiful way to see how time feels in Frieren's perspective, and powerful knowing that sliver of time had such an impact on her.
frieren humiliated aura in every possible way. Aura has the title of "guillotine" in her name and frieren made her kill herself by decapitating her own head
A very interesting thing here about Heiter (and how op he was). We know from Flamme that Frieren's suppressing her mana to 10%, and Aura stated her mana didn't change much from 80 years ago. Heiter said she has roughly 20% of his mana, so that would mean that he has about half as much mana as Frieren, which is insane.
if Aura kept attacking with her magic controls army, she won that battle. but Frieren is smart and she easily tricked them. Frieren is specialized for killing demons🔥
Frieren said “I’d might have been in trouble”. Emphasis on “might”. Given the aoe attack magic Frieren showed in the final few episodes of the season I kinda doubt that would have been a problem. Frieren was several orders of magnitude stronger than aura. Nothing was going to stop her from killing aura in this fight

If you noticed in previews episode Freiren always tired and always over sleeps. because she's been repressing her mana for more than 1000 years. And it keeps her exhausted
Did you notice that Frieren wears Flamme's earrings? Such a great end to this arc. Fern and Stark having great fights and Frieren totally duping Aura. Demons just can't see any point in hiding their mana. It's a cheat and they find it dishonorable.
She didn't wear them for 1000 years, until she was recruited by Himmel - when they meet in the forest, no earrings yet. But in those 2-frame flashback sequence right after that, she already has them.
they say it is dishonorable but just with everything, it is just a more fancy way to force your own believes. demons don't conceal their mana because it is important for their status in their own group. so it would be pointless to train mana supression. but they still can do it, as we see with lügner and linie. in the end, using honor is just their (and other mages) way to get more favorable fights. you can direclty see if you are stronger by enforcing "honor" on your opponents. if you are stronger, you can seek out the fight, if not you can surrender or flee. the same happened in RL during the medival ages. the knight codex of honor was clearly to protect aristocarcy as much as possible. 1v1 duels, banning more powerfull weapons like xbows and giving pardon after surrender all favors the knight vs the unwashed masses. because the knight had superior equipment and decades of training. obviously a 1v1 fight is in his favor. when he fights another knight, the armor will still protect vs the most serious wounds and when you are finaly brought down, you plead for mercy and still survive until your family can pay your ransom. in frieren we swap knights with mages, who are clearly the superior class in this setting. so fighting with "honor" is benefitting everyone. as long as your are a mage, that is
is it that scary and messed up ? even tho its probably a psychological horror anime, id hate to be going crazy from an anime or movie, although i know a few that can impact you that way

It just occurred to me. Heiter, when he looks at Frieren, says that she has roughly 1/5th of his mana. Frieren's visible mana is approximately 1/10th of her actual mana. So she only has twice as much mana as Heiter does, after 900 years of training. Heiter must have been a prodigy to have so much mana as a thirty year old human.
Frieren doesn't even gave her the honor to be killed by her hands, Aura was so proud to walk to her to kill her with his sword, she simple make her see she was not worthy to make any effort to kill her. The scene is powerfull
just with qual before, frieren sem to like killing demons with her own spells. for qual it was zoltraak, for aura it was the scales. only draht was an exception since she can't use the wire magic. but she did the next best thing, using her hands for decapitation instead of magical wire from your hands
