The fact that kraft is *so old* that the whole world forgot about his adventures and achievements is insane. He basically has to start building up his legacy all over again since his old one died out. That’s partly why he wants the goddess to exist so badly, because she is the only one who would know of his past, and all the forgotten adventures and good deeds of his ancient past. He doesn’t want to be forgotten.

The interactions they had with Kraft the Monk had their role, helping us see a bit more of Frieren's past with Himmel, Reiter and Eisen. Episode showed us how Frieren learned to pray, not to use flashy (destructive) spells all the time because of Himmel scolding her and that tied directly into Graf Granat managing to recover his son's armor. It's normal to ship Kraft and Frieren but like we've been told before, elves really lack any reproductive desire, being one of the reasons why they're slowly going extinct. Quite the shock, seeing that Himmel failed to pull the sword from the stone but he did save the world anyways, with the help of his friends. This was a precious lesson about how, with the passage of time, the truth changes, gets romanticized. Even though the mission of finding a suitable gift for Stark started in a silly way with the clothes disolving potion, once we find out why the hamburg steak recipe means so much for Stark - feelings over 9000. Fern really floated Stark around town like she was moving a corpse in Skyrim. Himmel is the true definition of “Not the Hero we wanted but the Hero we needed”
It's crazy that Kraft is in just a part of an episode and became one of the fan favorite side characters lol. So quickly. The fact the VA for Anya from Spy Family voices Frieren and they do the same smug face is hilarious to me.
Starks past has really affected me every time i see this episode, hes gone thru most of his life believing he had no one. But here he realizes that he's never truly been alone, that hes always been loved.
I don't really ship Frieren with anyone we've run across. She's not even interested in talking about it. Fern and Stark on the other hand, for sure everyone ships them.
Himmel not being able to pull the sword is such a magnificent message that flies in the face of any "fated hero" or "Chosen one" narrative. It showed how believing in yourself and your own talent and hard work beats destiny itself. The sword was meant for the one who would beat the demon king. Himmel can't pull it out ? He pulled a Thanos instead and went "fine, I'll do it myself". And he did. He created his own legend. And that makes him more legendary than any "chosen one" type of hero.
The sword was not to defeat the Demon King. It is for the hero who will defeat the calamity that will plague humanity. Which is yet to happen and the hero of said sword will appear.

Kraft is probably the owner of the legendary heroes sword that himmel tried to obtain but failed my theory is that Kraft is a hero from the mythical era who defeated the demon lord at that time, craft is probably double or triple the age of frieren and he said that the last time he met an elf is about 300 years ago my theory is he met with serie to learn a spell for his sword that only the chosen one could pull and obtain it. 🗡️ Kraft from a fighter like himmel to a monk.
Typically, one human generation equals 26 years. So 26*49=1274. I don't think Kraft is much older then Frieren, I guess he just started his own jorney long before Frieren had. Remember, she spent more than 500 years training. A timespan that more then enough for the one to became a hero and to be forgotten.
i think moving on is a very modern concept, some people love for life, for some they are not actively looking for anyone to compensate for their loneliness. Relationship is supposed to add to your already satisfied life not to add in for a void created by loneliness. Thats why its a wise saying to not look for a relationship when you are sad or down. A lot of people back in the day loved only once and spent their entire lives with them, and is some cases with their memories if their loved one passes away early. In an age where people change partners ever so often over the smallest of faults, its refreshing to look at a pire love story devoid of lust,
The sword is the anime's first hint that Stark is going to become the *true* chosen warrior and there will be a new destruction wrought upon the world for him (and Frieren and Fern) to fight.
While the Kraft/Frieren ship sounds good at first, there's two problems with it. First is Frieren is still recovering from the loss of her first great love - a love she didn't even realize she had until it was gone, so she's exploring the depths of that love while mourning it at the same time. There's no room for Kraft in that except as a supporting friend. Second, Kraft commented she's young. I have a theory about the elves of that world - I believe they grow to physical and intellectual self-sufficiency about the same rate as a human or dwarf, perhaps a bit longer, but emotionally and psychologically mature at the rate of one human year's worth for every century they live. This would put Frieren in her early teens in that regard, which is a difficult time for anybody, and a good one for a mature individual to avoid romantic interactions with until they grow past that stage. A thousand years later, I'd ship those two hard, but right now is just a bad time for it to happen. That's what I believe.
The whole story is built around Frieren and Himmel, I don't know why you thought Frieren would get together with Kraft, the thought never occurred to me.

Episode 12 gets me every time. The music, the build up, the storytelling is so so masterful in this anime. One of the best things I've ever watched.

Frieren is *super, super super SUPER* Not into Kraft. Just because they're Elves doesn't mean to ship them. There are other Elves out there too.
