TY Danny, You are an inspiration in your persistence.
I am doing the best I can. I am almost 80 and disabled. I did good on growing my root veggies in a raised bed that I can work. I have lots of eggs from my 6 Pilgrims and 1 Banty - and a spoiled Big Boy. Had very good production from the eggs, in an incubator almost 100%. Waiting for the late planted beans and they are flowering now. I saved the Pinto beans dried to plant next year and some to eat this winter.

I have to rely on my local farmers to get my produce but I'm finding lots of direct sources. I only have room to grow a few tomatoes, peppers and potatoes in containers.

Danny, this is Thomas Barton from Memphis TN. I have enjoyed your videos for months. The information that you and wonda have shared has been a blessing. This is the second year to have some box beds. We grow tomatoes, orka, greens, peppers and onions. We were able to put up 5 dozens ears of peaches and cream sweet corn and 20 containers of greens. We have about 75 meals of orka in the freezer the orka is still producing like crazy. Were not self sustaining yet but it's a start. Thanks again for all of the info and tips. You and wonda are a big part of what we do. Thanks again.

I love you brother but that coin should always have two sides: God forbid that you should have to pay someone a 'decent' wage for their labor! They Out-sourced our jobs to people who they could pay next to nothing to do them. In many instances right here in Texas, Farmers were refusing to pay their ILLEGAL 'Day workers' anything at all at the end of the day. That is not 'Christlike' either. The Working Poor is not a fantasy, they ARE REAL!
The same bible that states that "...if he doesn't work neither shall he eat!' *ALSO says that,* '... a laborer is WORTHY of his hire' and even MORE specifically says he should be paid at the end of EACH day. But I do agree that we need to go back to making things.

Amen. But honestly sometimes a worthy wage is different for some folks. My dad pays 15$/hr. The only reliable people who are willing to do the work are the Hispanics that are hired. My dad tried for years to hire my cousins who were jobless and other " white" folks( not necessarily white but born Americans). Never has a single one worked out. They are lazy and sit down on the job and still expect to be paid

@@reneebrown2968 Okay Sister, I am 'Cracking up' at you now and I appreciate you are using YOUR OWN PEOPLE to make your point! At least I hope that is what your doing! I get that probably SOME were not your people... racially, lol!! But isn't that an example of 'White Privilege'?
In their defense, they were raised to believe that they were ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS, and the '...earth and the fullest thereof...' is THEIRS! So then ANYTHING LESS than that is bound to be REJECTED, even if only on a 'subconscious' level, isn't it? My Mom said the SAME EXACT THING about 'White' workers! (Gas Station) It's why she hired Minorities (females)... more appreciative of WHATEVER they get paid! But we need to pay Adults an ADULT wage!
If we value 'Marriage', we need to pay men a man's wage! No matter what color or economic status he is! This is the problem, too many Minorities are poor based on their representation in this country and too many Whites make up the overall number of the poor in the World's Richest Nation.
They keep us in 'abstract' poverty to 'distract' from the fact (by the NUMBERS) that the BULK of poor people in this country look like you, not me. They keep your percentage to about 1% but that's a lot of people when you start ACTUALLY COUNTING HEADS! Why isn't the TOTAL population of the poor 1% or lower?!!! To rid ourselves of the US Census' website is keep us in the darkness as to what is going on in our own country.
Plus, Sister, let's be real... $15 an hour in one State is not the same in another! *I believe we should start AT LEAST there* but in HIGH COST States, even that is no money! Of course, I don't know where you live or where your Dad was offering that pay at but you are right if you use the word... WORTHY, as you did! But for me, a grown Man should be able to at least support himself on ONE paycheck! A one room bedroom somewhere, he shouldn't HAVE to live in his parent's basement or spare room because he can't afford to go anywhere else!
And honestly, since I KNOW that TWO CAN EAT CHEAPER than one, that pay should at least ALLOW him to marry! After that, yeah he may have to hustle a bit if he doesn't have upper education or specific skills and/or experience, etc...

We have been freezing slices of Purple Cherokee tomatoes. We store them like frozen sausage patties. I have experimented with quick thawing the slices in the same skillet we cook our hamburger patties. It takes less than a minute to thaw a slice. We have to be creative & resourceful. We have plenty of dried beans, rice, flour, cornmeal & oil. Carrots & cabbage are easy to grow or buy at the moment. We did a lot of pickled veggies this summer. We intend to thrive & prosper. Please check out reusable canning lids. There are several brands including tattler. I've had some since the 80's. I even use them for dry canning. Also you don't have to worry about the acid in your tomatoes causing your lids to rust.

I wish TH-cam hadn't taken away email notifications.
...I used to get over 100 you tube emails a day, sometimes close to 200.. I would "select" all of them, then scroll down and unselect the ones I planed to watch and deleted the rest. That made it easy ... When I had time to watch I'd simply go to my TH-cam email folder and watch one after the other that I had selected to watch that day.. .... Now having to weed through the entire list on youtube dropdown, I don't watch as many because I don't have time to scroll through the entire list over and over. Besides it's hard to read their tiny lettering.. My email has a larger font, besides the thumbnails are bigger too....
Since they omitted sending them to my email I am not watching as many as I used to because my favorites are harder to find on the notification list at You tube. ...
Now I will catch up on your videos I missed because of their change. I hope they change it back .
I'm wondering if creators are noticing a drop in views since TH-cam made this change. ?

Well said, sir. I agree we should stock up but it is becoming harder in some stores. They are limiting 2 items per purchase of anything! Even soap! I had to buy two new soap dispensers because the ones in my bathrooms broke at the same amount of time in the 2 months I had them. And I bought a refill half-gallon of soap. They let me purchase the dispensers but refused to sell me the refill bottle. I waited until my cashier finished with my purchase and I told her not to take the refill back just yet. I parked my cart off to the side of the store where nobody would bother it. And I took the refill to another cashier to purchase it and then I took all my stuff and left. That's the only loophole I have for it. I will save up and purchase a metal soap dispenser for my mason jars in the future so I will not have to keep purchasing these cheap plastic soap dispensers every few months. Ridiculous. I also noticed in one store that the prices are higher, like as if you were in a convenience store high! It's the only store in the little town we live in! Why would they do that!? I can't always drive to the next town or city to make all my purchases. It is even like the so-called cheaper prices of gas are not cutting it either. I've noticed that my gas use goes quicker than it used to for my truck. I used to be able to go out of town 40 miles away twice and still come home with half a tank of gas! Now I go once and come home and it's at a 1/4 of a tank! Something's definitely not right. And I've got an old truck. She's a 2002. And that has never happened before. I do know in some parts of the country people's gas tanks are getting siphoned out because of the disbursement of the police in their cities. Crime rates are at a high now. It is becoming a scary place to live in this world. Even the people, who are so afraid of taking their children to school are trying their hands at homeschooling online and having meltdowns right alongside their kids. Because even the public schools don't know what they are doing with online classes. We've been homeschooling for over 4 years now so we are used to the scheduling of our online homeschooling program. But I do feel for those people who do not know how to deal with their own children and the education of those children.
I think you should watch the show "Uploaded" on Amazon Prime. It's only one season. But it goes in the direction you speak of. It talks about the regular working people being unable to buy real food. They have these 3D printers with these kinds of ink cartridges that are filled with proteins, fats, flavorings, etc. Multiple cartridges and the people have to create printed foods with the flavors of the food they are eating. People make fun of it and call it cardboard printed foods. Then the companies that people work at are also charging the people working there for the coffee, the coin machine foods, granola bars, etc. while they work there. It comes out of their paychecks. And the people even show that in the city the water pressure is like dribbling and no hot water at all. The lady lives in her apartment and grows some vegetables out of her window with a potato sack pouches hanging out of her window. And she has to run off the local homeless from stealing her food. The rich people are the only ones who can afford actual real meats and foods. And so when a little girl is invited over there from the poor side of the city she freaks out at dinner. Because she was given a chicken leg on her plate where she picks it up and bites into it and is surprised by the bone. Because all 3D printed foods are boneless. The rich lady has to explain to the little girl that there are bones in chicken legs. Then the girl is asking her if certain foods have bones in them too before eating them. It's a real eye-opener of the way the future could become. I know the whole point of the show is based on something else entirely, but just from watching what is happening to the general population with the pretend foods is pretty alarming.
Thank you for sharing as always, you are awesome. Thank you and take care. I am glad somebody got some rain this season. The hurricane totally sideswiped us and didn't even give us a drop over here in central Texas. It is even hotter at 108*F today. Take care.

Have you checked cheaper stores in your area? Publix is one of the most expensive chain grocery stores I know of, so perhaps people are shopping elsewhere for canned stuff since it’s usually cheaper elsewhere. Around here, most stores are very low on most canned products. Sam’s Club in particular is almost ALWAYS out of canned green beans and corn lately, and it’s harder and harder to find diced tomatoes and tomato sauce there. Other stores are perpetually short on stock of stuff like soups, canned veggies, canned fruits, ramen noodles, seasonings, and lots of other stuff.
