This will be our first season in the greenhouse. Finally found someone and made him watch your video before he put ours up. Thanks for all the good info and hope you and Miss Wanda have a blessed day.
I do the same in my framed in outdoor gardens. I pick out weeds as soon as I see any. As a result of doing that, my veg beds have very little weed issues.
After all your years of hard work and dissappointment (I cried over your corn 2 years ago) you 2 deserve these high tunnels. The smiles on your faces are so wonderful.
I think the notes helped you give a lot of useful information in today’s co-lab video. Personally, I would love to see how you designed the walls of your high tunnels. I’m not a builder, but I do understand physics. The information on the direction to face the high tunnel is more valuable than any I have seen to date. I’d like more information on how to sure it up to handle to hurricane winds (I’m in central LA) and any other issues you may have discovered since building it that you wish you had known. Thanks again for all the info you’ve already given.
Just finished my 20x40 from Growers Solutions,.. Incorporating many features that you displayed in your videos...Many thanks from Zone 9 ... Southeast Texas
Danny, i would rather eat directly off the plants than to put them up for later anyway. Lol. You don't lose the nutrients that way. Besides if you have plenty growing you will be fine. The great thing about growing in a greenhouse is you can grow and eat fresh.
Absolutely on what falls from the atmosphere. Airlines have dumped liquids. Story of that happened 2 yrs? ago. Don't remember if it was school children.
Hi Danny, no planning, put greenhouse on side of house that is mostly facing the S and the garage is the whole back wall to the greenhouse. I now have a tunnel out back and again went with the structure that was there and just put a greenhouse tarp on it and had a great summer and now have (even down to 8 degrees) cabbage in it doing great. In my greenhouse, I have cauliflower in a green stalk doing good. I have for a very long time tried to grow something year around. My basic is parsley and other herbs (look at the prices of seasonings and you will see that it is a good thing to start with to save money). In the winter, I can grow a salad mix all winter and then take them and put them in the garden in the Spring. I use wire on the ground to stop the moles, voles, etc. I have raised beds with no bottoms (can't make my own raised beds) and they have a seat since I am disabled. Love them love them love them. Not enough space!!! I live very close to the Growers solution, but can not afford one of theirs. I am putting beans and big squashes out in the ground this coming year. They take up too much room and can cross pollinate and give you some strange squashes. And, my potatoes go in containers outside - had a problem this year because chicken compost was too high in nitrogen and needed to be amended. Soil, I use my chicken hay compost over hegelkulture. Now, I have to figure out how to fix the soil for next year. Watering is my big expense for the tunnel and greenhouse. Yes! weeding is not a problem - YEA! I am jealous of your big tunnels, but have to do what I can do and it is great. Was the manure that you used Black Kow? - I have used that for years and never had a problem with it.
@@DeepSouthHomestead OH dear, well they seem fine and hopefully, it was just garden that you lost - I buy black cow and was worried that it might be used in dairy cows - that is where they get their manure which they compost. I use my chicken and so far, everything is fine with the hay/chicken manure compost except it was too high in Nitrogen - so had to use some epsom salts and then everything grew great this last year.
Very education al On your last video something messed up with my phone and didnt get to comment. I was glad you bought your own high tunnels there is always issues with gov. Stuff. You know how they areithink that was smart Well i wont say no more dont wont to get you in trouble. May god bless yall
Mr. Danny, would you be able to share a list of modifications that you did to you high tunnels? I am located in Central FL & your modifications leaves me to believe that those mods could strengthen the high for the weather that is experienced here I my area. Plus , I will be installing two units in a commercial zoned property. One tunnel will be used or micro greens the other for veggies. I appreciate your time in responding. I am a Vintaged aged individual that wishes he was able to convince his spouse to move. But due the age, I am hunkering down & using my warehouse property to ‘farm’. Hopefully, once I get my 5500 sqft Commissary building rehabilitated, I will be ‘in door’ farm! Thank you again for you time!
And my quail poo will heat up a compost pile fast. I don't feed my rabbits hay. They don't like it. So what i do is giving them grasses and such from my yard. I have never put any chemicals or anything in my yard, so i feel good about using my manures. And thinking about using compost to heat my greenhouse for my tropical plants during the winter.
Went to the doctors this morning and I hadnt been out in a while. The sky was just a checkerboard of chemtrails looked like gingham almost. It was just everywhere I looked. Is your water coming in to the high tunnels filtered in any way?
A wealth of information Mr. Danny...thank you going over the soil. I used some fertilizer last season and my plants got yellow and died. As far as soil is it ok to use the soil from ground and mix all the miracle grow etc in it or should I purchase soil ?
DANNY, WHERE DO YOU GET YOU DR. EARTH'S LIQUID PHOSPHORUS? ALSO IS THERE ANY OTHER DR. EARTHS PRODUCTS YOU USE? IT SEEMS LIKE I'VE HEARD YOU MENTION ANOTHER ONE ALSO.
@@DeepSouthHomestead ...good to know! We've got subzero temps coming up next week. I'd love to be able to grow in winter. Thank for all the info and review.
I have a couple of questions: 1. Ground cover. yours looks more like a heavy fabric. What is it and where do you get it? Another time you mentioned what you used for fertilizing. What products and where do you get them? Thanks in advance!
Great video, you have your own cattle, why not use there manure , you know what you are feeding them. There should be any chemicals in there feed. I have been growing my tomato's in my tunnel for about 6 years, and have had a great crop every year. This year we bottled over 300 quart jars of whole tomatoes. Plus all the ones we ate fresh. The only problem is that with fresh tomatoes, I end up eating a lot more bacon also. Thanks Danny
The hay field had been sprayed for weeds. The hay is harvested and animals eat it ( no effect on them). The herbicide is still active the next year in the manure. I spread some neighbors manure in a soybean field one time and the next year you could see right where the spreader was turned on and ran. Beans emerged but did not produce in that area.
Peas look great , my question is you said you grow tomatoes in winter in the tunnel, how are you heating it in winter when it is cold outside , pepper and tomato plants don’t like cold weather ?
My husband is going to build me a small greenhouse. It will be 8x16. I can’t tend to much more than that due to health conditions. I have 4 raised beds for summer garden that are 4x8. What can I do in a greenhouse this small? I would love suggestions because I’ve always just had an outside summer garden..

Thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks Danny. If I had the land and $$$ I would build a couple of high tunnels like yours. Yours is the best design I have seen. Which Dr. Earth products do you recommend for peas, potatoes, tomatoes, and fruit trees? There are so many of their products that I get confused when I go to order them. Much Love
Can you show the screens for high tunnels ,I had no idea you could put screens on sides I figure in doors but can figure sides??do you address the screens in other high tunnel videos?? Do you address the things you added to strengthen your greenhouses..we live in Fla and will need to do something like that ..getting ready to order a greenhouse soon...so can you add the fan later but put the frame for it in beginning?? We will definitely need climate control summers are brutal here..
What are your chickens eating to risk problems with using their manure for fertilizer? If the hay for your cattle has been contaminated, how would you feed rabbits to avoid the same problem? I have been reading lately that the market for rabbit excrement has exploded far beyond current supplies and is now the major profit source for rabbits.
Danny, We are ordering a high sidewall kit from Grower's Solution and I am interested in the exhaust fans you are using. You mentioned that they are not powered by electricity. Can you tell me where you got yours? Grower's Solution only has electrical powered fans.
Danny, my lemon tree is budding for the first time! Do I have to pollinate them? (I am in Maine so it's in the house right now) How do I know male from female? Stay safe and God bless you my friends. 🌱🐓🐷🐐🐄🌱 Lisa
Yes you will have to pollinate it. Tree flowers are just like people. The flower with the long stem in the middle with the little end on it's the male. Take it off and remove the petals and put the long end into the female flower. We have a video showing how it's done.
