First attempt: Is It Worth It? - Algolaser Delta 22W Laser Engraver Review

- Algolaser's Delta 22 offers a pre-assembled laser engraver that's almost ready to go out of the box. It still needs a few setup and adjustment steps, but you can be using the system in about 20-30 minutes.
I had a little trouble with belt tension, but Algolaser's tech support was very helpful in walking me through the belt adjustments.
This system lacks automatic focusing and doesn't come with a guide to power and burn time settings. However, it does have a very nice air pump that both cools and clears the laser module, plus it has a built-in LCD screen and onboard Wifi.

Your channel is growing! Congrats dude you deserve the audience. Delivering nerdy shit to the nerdy masses. A hero.
Lasers are always so cool to me, idk what it is about them but concentrated light literally melting steel just interests me
this channel was sooooo interesting, now it's just an another reviewing guy.
That was a pro review, thank you!❤
6:00 Mr. Fancy sounds like one of the few who isn't plagued by Passive SI 🤣
Great video as always. I love playing with stuff like this. 🙂
Very thorough review Gabe, I’m looking for a laser to make stencils and printing plates for a relief press 😀 Eric.
Always entertaining. You should put together a gathering of the nerds, I mean, maker faire or something. Maybe even set a theme. Satellites, robotics, or whatever. Either way, keep the videos coming!
It's actually the coolest laser I've ever seen just look at that RGB!!
If you put a little masking tape over the wood when you cut or engrave, the smoke wont discolor it like that
good job!
The detail of the ceramic tile design is amazing. First thought it didn't burn and somehow reflected the laser... not sure why I thought that, but still lol. The review made me want to save for one, despite not knowing what I would use it for or where in the hell I would put it XD
The tile looks great
Great video I've been watching you since the RTL SDR blog link you a few years back. Keep up the good work and use crap like me lol😂😂
Great videos! thank you.. Word to the wise Carhartt's go up like roman candles. Set my self on fire few years back with a 10' angle grinder wearing Carhartt bibs. Be careful with that laser ✌ Only you can prevent laser fires
Hi Ya & best wishes. Thanks 4 work. Be Happy. Sevastopol/Crimea.
Then I hope you soon have full order books; this is a very nice machine, and the results speak for themselves.
Are you sure the ‘danger laser’ sign won’t act as an attraction?
Have you seen these modern smoke alarms that talk to each other? Thought it would be handy to mention that to you as it's a requirement where I live. Love how the tile turned out.
Cooooooooooool
But yeah, please be careful, 22W ain't no joke, you should probably build some kind of enclosure for it, glasses ain't bad but better safe than sorry.
The hardware of this unit looks similar to the Creality unit that I got. The firmware seems a bit more advanced, though.
Thank you
Hey Gabe! There is an International Space Station SSTV event being broadcast next weekend the 16th - 18th. Though it might be a cool space based radio event for you to cover. The downlink is 145.800mhz. 73! KC0MC
Nice, I'll check it out! Thanks for the heads up :-)
Didn’t the manual mention the belt tightening?
I want one!
I have no use for it and no space to put it but I still want one.
woohooo lasers!!
please be careful about those glasses.
i bought a laser and it came with green glasses, that look exactly like yours, but were not stamped with laser protection standard, the stamp was for regular mechanical eye protection.
That's why I do not trust them, so i bought glasses from a reputable source for the correct wavelength.
I'm not sure, if it means something in the context, but the quality glasses i bought have an entirely different color (the good glasses are orange and the laser is at 405 nm).
Have you tried wiping some acrylic paint across the tile you engraved? It won't stick very well to the glaze, but should get soaked up by the bare ceramic underneath...
I was thinking of trying something like that!
You should make more longer episodes in sandland digging
I'm working on another one, we'll see how long it ends up :-)
When I run my Walter Grinder CNC I go by noise and smoke to gauge the workload on the machine. Your process produces smoke normally so maybe just the sound or load will help you know if you are good or not. None of the CNC machines I have used has a manufacturer recommendation for stock removal. This is to the users discretion.
Etching barcodes? Data Matrix or QR Codes?
Occasionally I get customer requirements that want direct part marking. Serial numbers or skus. Tiny as possible too. (I'm an app developer with barcode scanning apps)
I'm curious if this will engrave on a curved surface. I've got a silver drinking cup I'm looking to get personalized.
As for fumes, an exhaust fan or even a shop vac to get that smoke contained might work.
Spell check: 16:57
Worked great on tile!
For the Spell yeah it is from Chyna! 🤣
I think the Y rotor is for an add-on that lets you engrave cylinders like mugs and glasses.
Are enclosures with laser-filter glass and safety switches that uncommon for lasers in the US?
Think it's more to do with where the laser came from
I'd be interested in using something like this that uses a Dremel tool for a cutting head instead of a laser have you used anything like that before
Dremel? Usually you see a CNC router for wood and plastic cutting. Fairly common, basically a lightweight CNC mill, so it can be gantry type like laser or plasma cutting.
@@TwoScoopsofDestroyer yea that But fits on my dresser :)
Updateing
Hell yeah, lasers
let's combine the lasers with sharks 😉
sweet bit of kit. probably obvious but don't watch it burn even while wearing the proper nm shades. my little 500mw laser pecker cooked my eyes in a weekend and had to update glasses prescription.
Yikes! I do have some good laser glasses that I ordered from another source, and I try not to sit around watching the thing!
How about making some save it for parts metal keychains with this machine and then selling them
please obtain and review one of those mopa fiber laser engravers please.
If they'd send me one, I'd try it out!
I would be scared of a 22 W laser without any type of cover included.
To reduce the dwell cooking on the edges make something in the design which gets cut later that acts as the turn around spot. IE a border around the design so it dwells on the border edge not the design edge. Imo
Yeah I've been doing that lately with my projects and it helps!
@saveitforparts I should have known you would all ready do that by now, that's as far as I have binged of the videos so far. I'm almost done watching tbem all! Love what you do, and I learn a lot, thank you.
I'm not sure I actually showed that in a video yet, I've doing some lasering for another cyberdeck so I'll have to point that out!
You have a cold?
Yeah I was a little stuffed up for this video!
Any laser sold without a shroud is super sketch. Even with glasses, not having a shroud is dangerous
What do you think the box is for 😂
shrouds we don't need no stinking shrouds
No shrouds included, we go blind like men
Or use your last 2 braincells and have it setup in another room or make a cover with a box 😂😂😂😂😂
Your generation is incredibly dumb
Ahh health and safety. Pffft
LOL They misspelled 'updating'. I'm not sure that I trust their QC.
It's not a real Amazon product without questionable spelling in the manual or software 🤣
@@saveitforparts You can award them one star - 'cause at least they tried. Little things like that speak to me of quality control, but who am I to judge?
lasergrbl is pretty basic, Lightburn is where it's at
"Finger gloves" rofllll
cool, NOW MAKE IT 100X MORE POWERFUL!!!!
And fit it to a frickin' shark! 🤣
@@sarkybugger5009 shark laser ftw
@@mattparker9726 You know it.
Styropyro collab?

I have a thought I would like to share with you Gabe.
Aliens are supposed to be an advanced species that have mastered space travel, but they seem to crash those UFO’s all over earth. Why is it they can travel at light speed from galaxy to galaxy, but cannot navigate on Earth all of a sudden.
very few have crashed. i mean, how many have crashed over the last 2,OOO years? they have been coming here for millions of years. In the case of Roswell, they may have been brought down with radar jamming or weapons or maybe a lightning storm. maybe they were made to fly more for the home planet than on Earth. most crashes are ufos made on earth.
It’s never aliens,
Why do you think aliens would be interested in us? we sure consider ourselves super smart, but realistically we don't understand half of what we see around us, we don't really understand physics, we don't really understand space, we even don't understand how our own brains actually work? Compared to some alien race that has mastered space travel etc, we're still pretty dumb? they probably look at us like how we look at monkeys? would some actually smart alien race waste their resources (to get here etc) for what would essentially be a trip to the zoo?
And if they visit, would they even try and communicate with us? or maybe with some creatures that (because of our collective ego) we just consider 'dumb animals'? like sea life? considering how most of the planet is water (and we came from the oceans ourselves) that would make more sense right? what if dolphins have already communicated with aliens?
Enjoy the extra rabbit holes to tumble down into 😉
I'll do an Area 51 video soon 👽
The bottom of the lense case be like 😐
I dont trust firmware that says "Updateing"
It's pronounced "Laser Gerbil", you fool!
