    The film is priceless. The memories of so many Bristol and surrounding towns residents.

    I believe that is Bob Steele...used to wake up to his voice every morning on my mom's radio.

    This video showed how many older parks were like especially before the 1960’s when the newer larger regional parks were built. In this case it was an older park that learned how to adapt and still is loved today.

    Great film. I worked there one summer in the 60's on the Bumper Cars and other rides. The firetruck and train really stand out. My sister and nieces worked there as well.

    I'm working at the park this summer. Absolutely amazing place with a rich history. This video was fantastic!

    Connecticut did an aerial survey of the entire state in 1934,so you can track down what the park looked like in march 1934 from the air, on the net.I saw that and my grandparents' house.

    Many of my aunts and uncles first met there in the 30's and 40's in the days before tv
    The good old days for me was in the 1970's back when you didn't have to pay to get in and just walk around-when the Norton family owned it.

    I remember going every year. My Dad's work place had a family outings. This was back in the early to mid 60's but the video has to be in the mid 50's

    Wow!! Great memories: my first ever roller coaster ride, bumber ride, train ride etc.....I was raised in Bristol Ct. Lake Compounce was a treat then. I heard it's the only wooden roller coaster ride still around. by Shirley West Beard

    In the 90's- Went to see many Concerts there .... was awesome...Gen Admission in the back grassy area and a "Floor Seating" section up front... Then- one show (I think Tesla show) the unruly chaps pushed the fence between the paid for "Floor Seats" and Gen Admin. down and made it all Gen Admission hahaha I got up to Row 3-4 or so that night...Great times... I met Brian Wheat the bass player from Tesla that night getting a hot dog over by the gate to backstage area... that was kool.
    They even sold beer too. I was about 20 yrs old but was able to find people to get me some beers during the night. A good time.
    Then- My fav band (80's / 90's) screwed up the whole thing... Guns n Roses cancelled a show there...It was never the same after that. I never went back...

      its funny you called it the "Tesla Show"...I was there too...it was actually a "White Lion" headliner show and Tesla was just the opening act....though most of us were there for Tesla

    Why do they intro it as "Lake Compound"? I remember it all too well, after spending two summers working there.

    I love the footage of the old Schmeck Wildcat, before the Dinn Corporation ruined it.

    Do you know the year this was filmed

    • @EditorBPress
      @EditorBPress 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I'm pretty sure it was filmed in the late 70s or early 80s. That's Stretch Norton, looking still relatively healthy, and Ellie Kapatch, who was Republican registrar of voters well into the 1980s. The original footage, into which the interviews were spliced, goes back to the early 60s, I suspect.
