OK how the bloody hell do I get those two clips off? Stuck at the first hurdle here just stabbing blind inside me steering wheel trying to even vaguely touch where they might be. Is there a trick to it? Or is it just incredibly badly designed?
All airbags are much the same. As the video shows you need to press the metal thin bar with a screwdriver at 90° to the bar. Push down on the airbag and pull on it and hopefully it will pop out the clips. Once you get it in your hands and look it's a very simple but fiddly design. Don't forget to disconnect the battery 👍. - I'm afraid used parts are always a bit of a lottery. I always use genuine Manufacturers parts for these repairs. If the steering wheel buttons worked before but not now then the part is either faulty or you've not connected the wiring up properly.
@@flashybike1 yes, I replaced the squib and it solved everything. Purchased from AliExpress for ~ €50 I think. Nothing too complicated involved. Disconnect earth from battery, few pieces of trim/ indicator stalk to remove (easy), then 2 relatively long flathead screwdrivers to unlatch the springs/hooks that secure driver airbag to centre of steering wheel (there is a hole each side to insert them). Did you have to disconnect the battery ??
Yes, any time working near airbags 👍
If this helped you please consider using the Thanks icon below the video.
Good video buddy
did you use genuine part or aftermarket? thanks!
I would only use genuine parts for this item 👍
hey iv replaced my clock spring. airbag light went out but now esp lights are on with c1132 any help would be much appreicated.
tommy quinn - not come across that myself but double check all the wiring that you disturbed or disconnected.
will do thanks
I have a same problem with my Qashqai j10 2008, can you please tell me where was the problem on your car. Thanks
@@alvinkurbasic4230 my problem turned out to be the steering angle sensor.
tommy quinn was the angle sensor near the squib and if so how did u fix this?
hello, is this repairable?
Not that I know of. I'd rather fit new as your relying on it setting that airbag off in the event of a crash. 👍
The left side wheel buttons on my Qashqai stopped working some time ago, but the right side ones work just fine, and there are no airbag errors. I'm guessing the problem is the same part, right?
ComandanteJ - more than likely the same part but could just be the buttons on the steering wheel faulty.
Thanks for answering! I'll check them with a multimeter before ordering a new squib, then.
Hello i changed this part 2 times first time the esp light start flashing because of wrong part then ordered a new used part. Now airbag light is of but steerig wheel buttons dont work.
Not music level buttons or any of the cruise control buttons work.. do you guys think its somthing wrong with this part as well or do i need to code it to my ECU
- I'm afraid used parts are always a bit of a lottery. I always use genuine Manufacturers parts for these repairs. If the steering wheel buttons worked before but not now then the part is either faulty or you've not connected the wiring up properly.
Or did you buy the spiral cable from Nissan Qashqai? And at what price? Thank you.
- bought from Nissan main dealer. Approx £160.
Hi, Left side buttons only not working on mine, horn also works intermittently. Could it be loose connection or should I replace the squib? Cheers
You'll need someone with some electronic knowledge to do some testing before replacing the squib.
@@Automotive_Solutions My background is mech engineering, I should know lol. Might get the multimeter out the weekend. Thanks for the reply
Mines the same. All buttons work when the wheel is rotated 90 degrees. I suspect squib on mine. How did you fix yours?
@@flashybike1 yes, I replaced the squib and it solved everything. Purchased from AliExpress for ~ €50 I think. Nothing too complicated involved.
Disconnect earth from battery, few pieces of trim/ indicator stalk to remove (easy), then 2 relatively long flathead screwdrivers to unlatch the springs/hooks that secure driver airbag to centre of steering wheel (there is a hole each side to insert them).
Then you'll need a socket (can't remember size) to remove steering wheel. Note the marking on both column and wheel. Remove wheel and squib is beneath.
There could be a video of someone taking this repair on TH-cam now, it's been a few years since I did this and I have since sold the vehicle.
All the best,
G.
Edit:
Just noticed this is a video of someone taking repair lol
Hello my car air bag light is on . Nissan cashqai 2009. Anyone know who can fix or Which Garrage can fix please
Hi. My airbag light won’t go off. It’s been reset a few times but always starts flashing again. The code is a ‘past b1129’ code. Any advice would be great!
My info shows that as front right side airbag. You need someone to test, confirm and repair it.
Automotive Solutions many thanks indeed. I’ll mention this when it goes back to the garage.
Hi great tutorial, i have been given the same fault code for my 2010 qashqai & quoted £250 for the repair. U said u used a genuine nissan part for £160....do u kno if there are any cheaper non-nissan parts that wud work as i really cant afford £160 & i need to fix the issue to get it thru its mot. Thanks
I wouldn't use anything other than genuine for that part. Sorry.
Hi, i managed to get a used genuine part & fitted it today no problems. Airbag light went out but now my traction control is on , cud this have anything to do with the battery being disconnected or is it something ive done
@@jojobabycakes secondhand is always a gamble. Did it come with the steering angle sensor still attached? - see 9 mins 15 seconds into my video. If it did then make sure the wiring is connected properly. You can always fit your old angle sensor onto the clock spring assembly. You may have to have it fixed by someone competent and with the right tools.
Thank you😃👍
Brilliant, thank you
Cheers 😁👍
Hi i know this one while ago but what rough price on this in a garage
You need to ring around your local garages but anyone using genuine parts will be quoting a few hundred pounds.
thank you.
Saved me £400 quid at the dealer. Muppets
The airbag thing isn't very friendly indeed. Requires fidgeting about and you have to push in the side you wanna pop out. Then let go simultaneously. It will look like it's released 😂.
@@redseantlworld yes, releasing those clips on the airbag is probably the hardest part of the whole job. 👍😁
thnx
Where can I get that part from? Thx
Felix Gold - I got it from the main dealer.

Where can i buy this clock spring from ?
I've only ever bought them from Nissan main dealer.
