- As we continue our Season 7 theme where we examine the full process of going from fleece to fabric, in today's episode we continue processing Venice, a Jacobs fleece from Meridian Jacobs in California by comparing carding and combing. If we want a woolen prep (fibers not aligned) we will card. If we want a worsted prep (fibers aligned) we will comb. I also recommend "51 Yarns to Spin Before You Cast Off" by Jacey Boggs Faulkner (link below) for your fiber resource library.

Love seeing you carding and using a diz. Brilliant, so calm
Your sweater I lovely! Short rows for the collar?
I believe so, good eye!
Which do you like best combed or carded?
Tough question! It's hard because each prep results in a different yarn. My "go to/ standard" yarn seems to be a sport weight 2 ply, so I typically card and then spin a forward or backward draw. I like the look of combed fiber, but combing is hard on my wrists.
