The Cosby Show really changed its look in 1990 :)
This is rubbish! Where’s MASH, Raymond, Mary Tyler Moore, Love Boat, Untouchable, Mod Squad, Moonlighting, Golden Girls, Jeffersons
I'm sure those on your list were on the Top 3.
This is just based on Neilsen ratings determining what the most watched show was from each year.
Jay bee this is the official #1 show in television ratings for the United States in entire 10 month “season.” Not your personal favorites.
FYI I don’t understand how Beverly Hillbillies was ever the #1 show in the country as I was not a fan of it. Yet it was a smash in the mid 1960s.
It’s sad that The Rifleman wasn’t mentioned on this list :(
It was never number 1 in the ratings, hence, or The Texan
@@BroadwayBabyyy744 ohh i see :(
@miguael_ribuera yah, a bit confusing at first glance then I got it. Quite telling actually hen you realize it's that based and not a best of list
What , no mention of Frasier !!???
LOL there should have been one year during the 90s where Home Improvement should have been #1
And one year where Roseanne was #1.
The most amazing thing about this list is that so many classic shows never made #1. The Simpsons surprised me the most.
Comon man
With all due respect, I never liked the Simpsons and American Idol is boring to me. Now this is my list of my all-time number ones.
MacGyver (1985 - 1992)
The A-Team
C.H.I.P'S
Knight Rider
Matlock
Wonder Years
Airwolf
Matlock
Dinosaurs (1991 - 1994)
Law & Order
Law & Order UVE
C.S.I.
C.S.I Miami
Fresh Prince
C.S.I. New York
Without a Trace
Chicago PD
Chicago Fire
We must remember this each number 1 rated show in primetime. Not just best rated
It's fascinating to watch tastes and trends change over the decades. Comedy is king in the early 1950s, to be supplanted by Westerns. Then it's a continuous back-and-forth between comedies and serialized dramas until the 21st century when cable TV starts chipping away at the audience leaving mostly unscripted series like Survivor and American Idol on top until, finally, streaming shows dominate entirely by the 2020s. Network TV is now useless except for sports and musical competition shows.
Funny that the more recent years I have never heard of.
With all respect
american idol is boring
@@jonathanorozco8075 I agree, it drives me crazy when my mom watches it.
I’ve never heard of this NBC Sunday Night Football.
Great pic of the Cosby show in 1990 😂😂😂
I’m surprised friends wasn’t on there more
Friends became what it is because of reruns was not the biggest TV show back in the day
Was the most watched sitcom not the most watched overall
I’m surprised and disappointed it’s up there at all..
There's no way this is 100% accurate.
This says a lot about us as a culture.
Batman #1 in 1966; “Batmania”,Batusi, toys,theme hit the charts,stopped the comics cancellation ect…
Why I dont have tv
I can think of a lot better ones then listened here.
Were they number 1? That's what this list is about.
I haven't had a TV in 30 years. I watch sports sometimes on someone else's TV.
you want a medal?
@@johnnybravado7141 No, I just want to read a book and learn something rather than sit in front of a TV and be entertained.
@@bobbybob3865Oh, wow, aren’t you a deep intellectual. It’s not like you can’t do both.
@@neneshubby I don't want to be entertained. There's too much to learn out there. As soon as I notice myself being entertained, I go back to learning something. (I certainly let others do what they want to do.)
I only watch old shows and movies. Hollywood can’t make anything anymore.
💪Just The Big bang theory
I prefer Young Sheldon. 😊
I thought that rating were calculated weekly. How were you able to find an annual ratings number?
Can u do famous people who died in /1944/ 1945/ 1946/
Green Acres ,👍
X-files?
One word: "Buffy" ;)
God I've watched a lot of TV...
You can really see the decline in television in the last 20 years, folks the golden age from the 50s to the 2000s is long over
And the winner is....sunday night football! Never heard of it. 😮
Seinfeld hit number one only once?? That doesn’t sound right!
No Sopranos? Somebodys gonna get WHACKED!
Andy Griffith show in 1968 ???
No “Hello, Larry?”
Some good shows here!
how bad did tv have to be for 60 mins to be number 1 show of the year for like 3 consecutive years lol
Una serie antigua de tv que me gustaba mucho era granjero último modelo en blanco y negro , los personajes eran muy graciosos
I could have sworn Threes Company was #1 in the 70's
Wheres the Simpsons I know for a fact they beat the Cosby show in the ratings in the 90s
60 Minutes shouldn't count thats the news
Hey shout outs Dragon Ball Z tho
To be fair, Tiger King and Squid Game weren't televison shows.
No mention of Game of thrones? About 5 other videos say Game of thrones was no.1 and had reigned as no.1 for several years.
Too bad MASH wasn't listed. Btw, theres a typo. The 1990 picture is of the show with Milton Berle...not the Cosby Show .
Tv got stupid in the late 2000s.
Gilligan's island was fricking popular in the 60s. WTF?
No Magnum PI. I could have sworn
I don't think Football should be included because it's a sporting event not a regular show. Same with news programming, although 60 Minutes is a maga😢zine show, not actual news. I'm also not sure if streaming shows should be included either because they're not traditional television. How can the viewing numbers be calculated, especially since some streamers like Netflix won't release their viewer data?
Roseanne home improvement was #1 in 90 93 never heard of tiger king or Wednesday
They are Netflix shows.
Squid game, Wednesday, fallout c'mon not even in top 10.
Brother reply me information website video
Andy should have been #1 from at least 61-65….
Married With Children still is a underrated 💎 on what became 🦊 Network...
Mash and the Simpsons, law & Order did not get a look in...
Penmanship and spelling were better back then.
I don't believe this list is accurate.
What no mention of "Soap"
Seinfeld? You mean people actually watched that show?
What's going on with the 1990 pic?
The big bang a teoria❤
Friends ❤
Simpsons never made the cut, eh?
❤❤❤
Where is MASH
It was never the #1 show in the ratings.
All In The Family was such a juggernaut nothing could compete with it
Best tv series ever made are smalvile the walking dead el chavo chapolin everybody hates chris drake e josh
Where's Mash?
Game of Thrones was #1 Where's it at??
Where's Love Boat
You forgot Perry Mason, Hogan's Heroes, M*A*S*H, Dukes of Hazzard, Night Rider, the A Team, and COPS.
Never rated number 1 consistently in the ratings
@BroadwayBabyyy744 Really? Perry Mason was so popular at the time (Earle Stanley) that the Ford Motor Company paid them to have their cars in the show. Eventually, Alcoa (the same company that makes everything from tin foil to automotive rims) also signed lucrative deals with these producers. Then, followed, tobacco, Avon, soap, and baking supply companies, including arm and hammer. The sales of all skyrocketed. With attributes given to the success of the show. Hogan's Hero's lasted 7 seasons. Something that was unheard of in those days. "Dinner" shows were quite popular in those days as well. With the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and, in particular, Bing Crosby (the creator of Hogan's Hero's), Bing would recieve many awards and accolades, due to the shows success. M*A*S*H was so popular it was eventually produced as a movie and is one of the most noteworthy sitcoms of all-time (stopping short of the Simpsons). Action figures were made from this series that predate the relaunch of G.I. Joe. Dukes of Hazzard was another long-running popular series. So much so that action figures, games, lunch boxes, and other notable items were made from it. The same can be said about Night Rider and the A Team. COPS has been on the air since the early 90s. With new episodes airing to this day! All shows have been considered "#1" by TV time, Teen Magazine, and many popular critics at the time each aired, respectively.
@@cailcampbell5890this isn't a personal list of the favorite show of the year. This is about what show was the most watched in that year. There's a difference.
@@lamontyaboy718 I've already given my answer to that.
@@cailcampbell5890 If you disagree with the Nielsen feel free. With that said, this is the list that has been accepted for over 60 years now by almost everyone in the industry.
Where is Love boat
Actually just listing the number one each year is very boring. There are like 5 American Idols and 10 NBC Sunday Night Footballs.
That's basically the reason the Emmy Awards is a waste of time. Same show keeps winning year after year after year. It gets boring having no variety
Um...pretty sure Friends surpassed ER in the 90s, but ok
No it didn't
These comments about including other shows are very depressing to me.
TV SHOWS HAVE SUCKED FOR YEARS
Then you write and produce a better one!!!!!
The 90's to present were/are pretty weak.
Number 1 TV Show in the USA not the world
I stopped watching when Seinfeld came on. Hated it.
That feeling when you realise mainstream TV has been bad since the 50s. Sitcoms everywhere, unfunny shows, boring shows. In Britain we didn't have many sitcoms thank god. We had Heartbeat and Doctor Who instead.
I never did like The Cosby show because that was endorsed by The Miss America pageant
60 mins left wing communist prop.
This is pathetic
If these are the best, imagine how bad the rest must be
@@marklane61 It is not a list of the "best"-just the highest rated television series by year. Some shows, such as "I Love Lucy," "All in the Family," and "Gunsmoke" were top rated programs for years.
BS
Friends another worthless waste of time
Left out the Simpsons and married with children
What? No M*A*S*H*?
