The drugs turned a kind caring man into a egotistical drug toting jerk who became someone he probably didn’t like. Towards the end he was very spiritual so somewhere I think he knew it was the end
A friend of mine shared a fun story. When she was 16 she asked her parents if they'd take her to go see Elvis. He was going to perform at the Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, CA. They told her absolutely not! School was more important than seeing Elvis. Being the rebel she was she decided to ditch school and take the public bus there. She took a school friend with her. No one can ever really take that from them, even if they destroyed Dixie. It's in the Heavens. It's enormously attractive. Thank you for mentioning the "Annointing" I learned something !!

My dad loved Elvis and as I was given a gift to be able to sound much like him, on my dad's dying day over a video chat from my sister-in-laws phone I sang this song to him. She said she could see in his eyes he was at peace as he took his last breath. It was his last request of me, his oldest son, and I was never prouder to perform it. The most touching moment I ever had with him and will never forget!
Oh you had to share that story. You made this 61 yr old man tear up. God bless you. As a father I know how special that was. My wife asked me why I was tearing up so I said listen to this story. As I tried reading it I cried and had to stop several times and finally made it to the end. I looked up and my wife was crying too. We both loss our parents a few years ago and your story hit us like a rock. Hugs my friend. God bless 🙌
I saw him in Atlanta in 1973 and again in 1975. At the 75 concert I was in the 3rd row, Behind the stage, but he came back to the back a lot. It was so GREAT!! This song was my favorite!!!!! RIP ELVIS!!!
Elvis was a beautiful man!!!! It still brings me to tears everytime I saw a picture of him or him in concert. I pray who ever takes control of Graceland will continue all the beautiful memories of Elvis and Lisa.

What so many people fail to learn is the kind of man Elvis was. He didn't drink, he loved people and entertaining. He gave so much to others and in his lowest times he failed to recover. He was a good man and listening to him singing worship songs is so uplifting. We are all sinners saved by GRACE!! I believe Elvis is in Glory!!!!
No other song touches me like Elvis's An American Trilogy. I have played it hundreds & hundreds of times over the years. I never get tired of it. Thanks E
I was going to say the same thing. And that is not even the best version of him singing it. Still sends shivers down my spine. Also My Way, and How Great Thou Art.

Elvis's songs were always heartfelt and genuine. He sang his songs for the people. There has never been a doubt in my mind that this man wasn't chosen by God to entertain the world. And he did his best but he has given us Lisa Marie and she makes him proud. she is beautiful , her voice and songs are fantastic. And like him she has been through so much but she came through every time. His legacy of love to the world was his daughter Lisa Marie. Rest in peace Elvis you are so missed by all Who Love You and remember you. But I'm sure you're still here.

Elvis has touched so many lives in lots of different ways making a profound impact on millions in ways Elvis didn't know this side of heaven. Praise Jesus for Elvis's precious life and his ministry, yes it was a ministry and a calling. Bless Elvis.
Elvis's music will always ring true in my heart. I was a fan when I was in elementary school. I walked around the house holding a album cover in my hand. My love for Elvis started then. I am 68 now and I still feel the same. He will always be the King of Rock and Roll in my heart and in the hearts of many.
Elvis gone way too soon. He was my mum and dad's favourite used to listen on a 8 track stereo in our van on the way to MX meetings in UK. I have converted my wife to be a fan. Elvis will always be the most inspirational singer and human being from my life. So charming, so caring and so generous. Shame Tom Parker was not more like Elvis.
I've lived the majority of my life in the South and they can keep the North. This poor, talented, sweet, kind, man was worked to death by just about everyone...including us because we wanted to see him perform...and THIS trilogy was the best, I still play it after 30 plus years.
I loved his music and he had a voice like no other. He was one of a kind and always be. He may be gone but never forgotten. GOD REST HIS SOLE. Amen❤❤❤❤❤
That is a fact! Elvis Presley was and still is the greatest gift to the music industry. He is one of a kind. The king of rock n roll. Elvis Presley will continue to live forever in our hearts. Long live Elvis Presley!

I remember being 15 and at a "Yes" concert right after the King passed. The singer Jon Anderson, talked on stage about how Elvis inspired so many musicians of that time and how his passing was a loss for the entire world. It was something I will never forget, a singer from a totally different side of the spectrum honoring the greatest voice popular music has ever heard. The place went wild and at that time I couldn't figure out why. I surely know why now. Rest in peace Mr. Presley as the world will never forget you.
I grew up with an aunt who couldn’t have kids so we wer hers aswel as her brothers and she was OBSESSED I was 5 wen he passed and at 47 still feel her pain, this past week I watched a Scottish band called Texas I have loved since my teens. They ended ther Amazing gig with the king. Sharlene sang suspicious minds and did the King proud 😘😘

But a part of me wonders did this man understand who Elvis Presley was? The impact both in music and out of music. No one will ever forget. He made as much of an impact in 42 years as anyone has who walked this planet

During my 6 + decades of life there has never been a singer and/or performer better looking, with a bigger heart and soul, genuinely kind with all of that talent than Elvis Presley. I still get tears in my eyes hearing him sing and even more so now that I'm seeing for the 1st time the duets made with Lisa Marie before her tragic passing in January of this year. So sad. So tragic. So heartbreaking. Elvis and Lisa Marie shared an undying, unbreakable love. May they be together again along with her son Ben, for all eternity. Rest In Peace sweet Angels who gave us so much love and kindness through their music.

Sharyn J Sorry to hear about your son. I've always said that a parent outliving one of his children must be the worst feeling in the world for the parents.
Wagner PD May I remind you he became overwhelmed with his drugs , took a child to live with him. Today that’s grounds for arrest . Then he cheated on her. Fame and fortune destroyed Elvis . His life was tragic even with all that money
A special memory of my childhood comes to mind whenever I hear Elvis. I loved to help my mother clean the house but only when we played records on the record player. Elvis was played every single time. The little things mean the most ❤️ Rest In Peace mom. Miss you. Love you dearly.

My dad is an Elvis SUPER FAN IDOLIZE-ER! He's very knowledgeable when it comes to Elvis and even though my dad may not look like Elvis, he sure can sing like him. I can remember the first time I EVER seen my dad cry... my dad and I were watching a documentary on Elvis' life. At the end, during the credits, "Memories" started to play, by Elvis. I looked over at my dad and he had huge tears streaming down his face. Mind you, this was 20 plus years, after Elvis' death. That's the moment I realized how much of an impact Elvis had on my dad's life and as long as I live I'll never forgot that. The other thing I'll never forget my dad telling me is, "He might have been dying, but the one thing that didn't, was his voice." I want to "Thank" my dad, for introducing me to the classics and especially Elvis! ❤ Love you dad!
@K Whit your dad has got great taste I have been a lifelong fan of the King love all of his songs everything he sang was outstanding even in his movies nobody betters him but Noel Brady the first big chief (flaming star) from the Irish Indian show band does a fab job on the old Elvis songs (he was a huge Elvis fan check him out on y/tube but Elvis will always be number one the king of all music in my opinion ....from an Irish fan
@@jocondie8503 I understand exactly where you are coming from! My dad is the exact way you are when it comes to all of Elvis' songs. Il also have to admit, I'm kinda an Elvis "freak" myself, thanks to my dad. "Flaming Star", the movie and song, is one of my favorites! I'll tell you a story my dad told me about the movie, "Flaming Star". I'm not sure how true it is, but since it came from my dad and he's NEVER been wrong when it comes to anything about Elvis' "history" before, so I kind of believe him... My dad told me, after Glayds seen Elvis' character, in "Flaming Star" die, she became so physically upset that Elvis promised her, as long as she was alive, he'd never play another character that died, again. Like I said, I tend to believe my dad, because you can verify the fact he never played anyone whom died while Gladys was alive. We too, are from the South, like Elvis, and my dad has ALL KIND of stories, like that one. My dad amazes me with how much he knows about "The King"! And YES, even at my age, Elvis will ALWAYS be the #1 KING of music in my opinion, too!! Thanks for the reply!!

@ Mary Wood yes Mary I’ve always been a fan of the king still enjoying his music nobody betters him on any song but Noel Brady the lead singer (big chief flaming star ) from the Irish Indian showband (now retired ) came a close second he was a big Elvis fan and sang a lot of his songs live on stage at Pontins in 1990 he sang from the heart and gave Elvis a lot of respect check the band out on y/tube but Elvis will always be my number one .. from an Irish fan 👍
This one is for my special mom and my beautiful daughter up in heaven Thanks Elvis for helping me cope with your inspiring voice and concerts and movies. I surely hope your singing for all the angels up above
Very few entertainers could do what Elvis Presley did. He could change his voice at any time. The way he puts his feelings into his songs. And most of all he had a talent that only God could give to someone. Elvis could respond to any beat of his music and he could turn his crowds on into excitement. Thanks by the grace and love of God we had him for the time that we did. Many men don't have the courage to say they love a man. I love Elvis and I am not ashamed to say it. His was like a big brother and an inspiration into the music I love. Thanks for so many years of great music, excellent acting talent and talent on stage. Your incredible voice never failed you. Carle Wells!
He is gorgeous! No one has yet to come along with a face as pure and innocent as Elvis, regardless of how it became at the end, he is the most gorgeous performer ever.
The backup singers are hardly ever recognized. They are half the reason Elvis sounded so great! If it wasn't for them, his songs would sound completely different. Applause 👏 to the back up singer's, the orchestra, and everyone else who, with their voices and / or sound, helped create Elvis, the icon that he still is today and will be forever more.

As I tried reading it I cried and had to stop several times and finally made it to the end. I looked up and my wife was crying too. We both loss our parents a few years ago and your story hit us like a rock. Hugs my friend. God bless 🙌
What an incredible tender and touching story. How blessed you are!

What so many people fail to learn is the kind of man Elvis was. He didn't drink, he loved people and entertaining. He gave so much to others and in his lowest times he failed to recover. He was a good man and listening to him singing
worship songs is so uplifting. We are all sinners saved by GRACE!! I believe Elvis is in Glory!!!!
No other song touches me like Elvis's An American Trilogy. I have played it hundreds & hundreds of times over the years. I never get tired of it. Thanks E

No one but Elvis could sing this song with such feeling that you can feel every emotion.
And you can feel the love and passion in his Southern up bringing.Forever in my heart❤🎉 Bravo encore!

Edith you said it the best. When Elvis sings gospel sonsg, then we can really hear his beautiful voice and he does sound as if he is singing to God. I am not a real religious person, but tears fill my eyes when he sings gospel song!
Rock and Roll paid the bills, but gospel singing was his passion, and it shows.
Edith Maxim his heavenly father and earthly momma
I’ve always loved Elvis. Our friends and family used to say that my first husband looked like Elvis when he was dressed up. He did favor him a lot. He’s in Heaven with Elvis now 💙.
I'm not a Southerner but a former Navy brat born and raised in California. Even so, this Trilogy makes me both proud and humble to be an American.

He will always be the King of Rock and Roll in my heart and in the hearts of many.
i hsve the same feelings he is a child of god
Me too. He was my first big musical impression.
Elvis single handedly touched the world in such a way it changed cultures across the globe. Think about that... RIP & long live the king!
Elvis was the Messiah for the 20th Century. The first one since Jesus 2000 years ago.

The fact that he thought people would forget about him. In a way I understand, how could he predict TH-cam and internet would keep his music alive. But a part of me wonders did this man understand who Elvis Presley was? The impact both in music and out of music. No one will ever forget. So tragic. So heartbreaking. Elvis and Lisa Marie shared an undying, unbreakable love. May they be together again along with her son Ben, for all eternity.
The other thing I'll never forget my dad telling me is, "He might have been dying, but the one thing that didn't, was his voice."
I want to "Thank" my dad, for introducing me to the classics and especially Elvis! ❤ Love you dad!
Soo sweet girl, soo sweet from Ireland....!

I understand exactly where you are coming from!

Very few entertainers could do what Elvis Presley did. He could change his voice at any time. The way he puts his feelings into his songs. And most of all he had a talent that only God could give to someone. Elvis could respond to any beat of his music and he could turn his crowds on into excitement.
