The message no one is talking about: the amount of stuff a family has accumulated directly affects the cortisol levels of the mother. Absolutely no guilt or shame coming from me, I've been there. Gosh, I know it well. But I have to share my story and remind you, momma, that there's another way. You can truly enjoy motherhood. You don't have to believe the narrative that motherhood is hard and the most tiring/difficult/angry/depleted years of your life. If you're a momma stuck in the overwhelm and chaos, longing for a way out, I hope my story can give you hope...you can enjoy motherhood again too!!

I’m an old lady 😂 and not a mother but I love Margaret’s insight on simple living. Young people listen to her! It will change your life. I am doing it in my late 50’s and it is the way to live! Sometimes I just sit and watch the world go by and it’s wonderful!
Margaret, this video is so precious to my heart, as a mom to 6 blessings.
It was thanks to minimalism that i was able to see clearly how I was telling myself I had to work but I was truly spending on unnecessary things and services instead of investing in my own labor
My motherhood mantras are “this too shall pass” and “not my task”. If you haven’t read “Hunt, Gather, Parent” I highly suggest it. Thanks for sharing your struggles.
I love says not my circus not my monkeys. helps remind me that others dont truly matter like our kids do.
That book is SO good!! It really inspired me to get my kids involved in household tasks more even though they're all under 3
Margaret, thank you for this video. Motherhood is not easy. I am just getting through some hard postpartum feelings. Something’s that have made a big difference for me are getting outside every single day, going for long walks, asking for help, and not worrying so much about perfection with my home, myself, and my children. It is still hard, I still have hard days, but I am finally feeling better! How do you and other moms find help spiritually when you are drained? I am struggling to feel like God is there helping me.
💯 in the same boat! I have 3 boys, 5 and under and one is 6 months and I'm struggling too! I'm just trying to take it a day at a time and stare at those little faces closely and hug them tight!
Awe hi! 6 weeks postpartum here and love my beautiful boy. Those moments where you just feel like you’re about to give up, turning to God will never let you down! It helps me to remind myself that babies are blessings and God always provides for them if you put your faith in him. I lost my job due to having a rough pregnancy and it’s unbelievable how much God has shown me he can do when you trust in him and keep stepping closer to him!
I wish TH-cam was a thing when I was your age. I would’ve done motherhood so differently. You are such a blessing and I hope mothers listen to you. ❤️
I’ve followed you for a while but wow. God has used your last couple videos to just hold my heart with the words you are speaking. I’m so grateful for the way your videos speak into motherhood for me and where I’m at.
I'm so glad you talk about this. as a mom who used to be like this and still is sometimes I found minimalism and slow living, you and Madisun have really changed me and I thank you so much!! it's hard to be so transparent and I appreciate it because it isn't easy online im sure. I hate that I was that way and I have a 12 year old so I have years to make up for it, but i'm so glad i'm more awake to it. much love xoxo
Thank you for being so vulnerable with your story. Most of what you shared sounds so much like me right now. I’ve been working so hard on decluttering. So excited to slowly start feeling like myself again, as the things that I can live without leave our house for good. Here’s to truly living and experiencing more freedom!🙌🏻❤
Thank you for sharing ❤ some days are so hard. I’m going to listen to this over and over until I can take some of these lessons into my own life 🙌
Loved this video! I LOVE almost every video of yours😅 Thank you Margaret❤🙏
I think something that would help me a lot would be a playroom tour, my boy loves anything outside but in this southern heat we need more ideas for great indoor toys
Wow, you just spoke to my heart and soul more than you know! As a fellow mama of 3 boys 5 years abd under... I'm in this anger stage and no me time and this truly helped shift my mindset. We are headed out for 3 days camping here in a few hours and this checked me really quick and reminded me the simple and keeping the stuff minimal and easy. Thank you, truly I appreciate you! I have been praying for more peace and calm and this is so needed!
Thank you for this video Margaret ❤
Thank you for another well timed and deeply relatable chat. Thank you so very much for sharing.
You are such an inspiration to me. I’m not a mom yet but am trying to prepare myself mentally and physically and I’ve loved your videos for that.
Margaret ❤ I relate 💯 to the anger you talk about because I have it sadly-I absolutely LOVE this video of yours!!!!!!! THANK YOU ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Thank you for this video! Very inspiring! I like to think im a minimalist, but i still ha e way too much clothes, kitchen gadgets, my kids have too many toys, and too many clothes , i need to minimize more!! Shop less, want less, and be more focused, less stressed. ❤
Garden city is such a good book!
#6 hit home for me!!
This is such a useful video for me! Talk about timing! Currently pregnant with #3 and in the thick of first trimester nausea and exhaustion 😩! Such a good reminder to declutter and chill out!
Would be curious to hear how you’re faith has helped improve your perspective and attitude on motherhood. I know some days only God and His Grace is getting me through…eager to hear another mama’s perspective on that!
Amen! The battle is the Lords! (Mom of three neurodivergent boys).
I just had my third too! My relationship with God changes everything about motherhood for me. I'm so thankful to have his strength instead of relying on my own
I resonate so much with this
Do you think that the stress is less now that the kids are a bit older? And also I have felt that social media is one of the reasons I am kind of stressed because it always feels like I can do more looking at all those other parents. Like I am never satisfied with my progress.
Question: how do you live with genuine gratitude and kindness without being rude when people give your children things you don’t want in your home? Toys, loud patterns/colors on clothes, etc.? Mine and my husband’s family sometimes think I’m boring or ungrateful, but I just want to embrace minimalism! Am I being controlling or intentionally?
I struggle with this too!! I say "thank you" and then get rid of it in my own timing 😂 I also tell family members my kids don't need more toys and suggest books or consumable activities instead
10:09 “You are doing a great job.” You don’t know how much I needed to hear those simple words. Thank you 🤍
Hey Margaret is the decluttering thing happening today? I’m on the page but it’s not connecting or showing anything
