Finally, a relatable closet clean out! Thank you for sharing your reasoning for keeping/donating pieces, and for acknowledging that your wardrobe isn’t perfect & will change with time! 💗 I love your real-life content, and you’re easily one of my favorite content creators. Sending you love this Monday morning!
I'm with you on the dress front. Whenever I want to feel pulled together, it's a dress and earrings for me. I feel stylish, pretty and kind of powerful.
It's great when we realize and embrace we are not who we used to be, so liberating! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the sports guy gal stereotype. It can be limiting to be a woman following society's expectations, but so amazing to break them off!
Yay! I love this video! By the time you got to your second round I was in my closet with my phone decluttering my closet with you. It felt like a friend was chatting with me while we went through our closets! I’ve been heavier these past few years than I have ever been except when I was 9 months pregnant. What I realized recently was that my body was doing something instinctively to protect me from a season of chronic stress. It’s like it’s protecting me while my mind and emotions are in survival mode. That shift in my mindset has helped me thank my body instead of berating myself for being so heavy. That said, I pulled all the items that don’t feel good or look nice and now I can enjoy getting dressed every morning and see what I need to fill my wardrobe out. Also, yes a thousand times to dresses and flowy skirts!!!❤
I'm currently pregnant (high risk) going to 1000 different doctors and EVERY penny is going toward that, so don't apologize about strapping in with the budget! I get it! Your style is super cute, and every piece looked lovely. I'm about to go through all my pregnancy capsule, and start thinking about postpartum, too. Congrats on the baby! Praying for all the rich blessings available to you for the family and your little one ❤😊
Tip for dresses in winter: I’m a midwesterner too, and I love ankle-length dresses layered with cropped leggings & a satin full-length slip to keep the dress from catching. Layer a sweater on the top and you’re golden! I started wearing dresses full time in January, and haven’t looked back!
For itchy sweaters, Everlane makes thin ribbed tops. I wear the long sleeve crewneck style under itchy sweaters. They don’t add any bulk. This declutter was helpful to watch!
Spaghetti strap dresses can be cute with a plain or simple graphic tee over the top, and knotted at the bottom right over or to the side of the baby bump. That way, no strapless bra is needed!
The cropped white one, you could put under the spaghetti strap dresses or layer over the dresses. I wear dresses 24/7 365. So layering is huge fore me.
This blessed me so much! I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant and just ~*itching*~ to clean out my closet! It’s a mix of maternity and pregnancy and possible postpartum. Thanks for giving me hope that I’ll be doing this in a matter of weeks! 🤗😁👍
I’m also 37 weeks pregnant and fit just a few pieces in my wardrobe (unintentional capsule)😝. I’ll definitely have to go back into my storage totes postpartum to see what fits, how I’ve changed, style and ALL.
For the Missouri weather, keep your dresses, get merino wool under layers/base layers! Easy pezu girl. I’m in Ks/Mo so I totally get the cold, but the layers have worked for me!
Thank you! I loved this video! I loved how you documented your thought process when going through each item and talked about the very real struggle of clothes when your body changes with pregnancy and post partum. I feel like I have 3 wardrobes and I want to get rid of that as much as I can!
Margaret, you beautiful human being! thank you for being so real. I really enjoy your decluttering videos and how you show your thought process through the whole thing, and how you even call yourself out when you think you're being ridiculous. Thank you for always lifting my spirits! Sending so much love! ❤
This is what I needed to see today. Trying to clean out my closet and going through life/body changes myself. Love your closet declutters, and they are such an encouragement!
Actually just looking at the neutral colors calms me. I actually just read in a book (The Whole and Healthy Family by Jodi Mockabee) that neutral simple clothing is so much more visually calming and less stimulating than colorful patterned clothing. Not that there is anything wrong with that! But looking at your wardrobe gives me that feeling. 🥰
But that Amazon set you have though… I feel deep in my soul I need it. Lol. I have been seasonally decluttering my closet for 2 years now. It’s still not where I want it to be, but it’s going in the right direction. Simple living is a habit, not a destination. Ps. Found you from 30 days of dresses, did the challenge, it changed my whole vibe on my body and life. And now I eagerly watch all of your videos. You seriously rock. I’m a better person bc of your content. ❤❤❤
Ah, so so touched reading this!! Well done, it is definitely a lifestyle-not a destination. So well said. Thanks for hanging around and for these encouraging words!
For the spaghetti strap dresses, I have found that a spaghetti strap nude (for your skin) bralette has been amazing. I don’t care if people see the straps but you may! I can’t do strapless either.
I actually wear a bralette in a color like grey, or blue or black. Sometimes even a softer pink. That way it looks intentional. The straps are a little wider so it looks more like a tank or sports bra.
I love your content always!! I like especially how real you are about the process of decluttering and talking through whether it’s a keep or a go and why. It is so helpful. Thank you! Can’t wait for the next video😀
In all honesty, this couldn't have come at a better time! I've been looking to downsize my closet and you've given me the motivation to get a head start. Thank you so much! As always love your videos ❤.
Good job. I love how you know what you want and what’s right for you. I wish I was more minimal but I have attachments to all my stuff and it’s very hard to let go. I do it little but little but sadly I still shop a lot, too (working on it).
Im so glad you are still wearing dresses too! I love wearing them so much more than separates. I'm just entering my 2nd trimester of my first pregnancy and I'm having to do a similar eval of my closet...😊
My favorite strapless bra is the “multiway” from victoria secret. Its great for minimalist because the straps come off easily so you can wear it as a regular bra as well. Very comfortable with and without the straps!
I’m with you. I love my jeans to be comfy. I’m 5’ and have a lot of luck with American Eagle jeans. I buy the short for casual looks. For boots/heels I get regular and have them hemmed. You could probably get away with a regular length. Time and Tru from Walmart are good too. Great video as always 💕
OMG! You're sooo cute 😍 I know this is a closet clean out video, but I can't help but adore how cute, carefree and true you are. I love your vibe. Second video of yours I watched and am pretty sure I'm gonna binge the rest cos I totally love your vibe
great video! I am the same with collecting so many similar jumpers/tops in the same colour, different tone/shade. BUT I disagree when you say the two brown ones are the same. One looked like cashmere, and one was giving college vibes. I also really think the cashmere looking beige jumper suits your skin colour
I totally get how you feel when you talked about certain clothes embracing your youth. I am 28 also pregnant with baby #3 and I am not sure how my body will change this time. I hope my most comfy clothes stay fitting comfy after baby is here lol 😆
I'm saying this from personal experience, I would hesitate getting rid of pieces that you don't think you're going to fit into after your pregnancy. I did that after my daughter was born and sure enough, I got back to my pre-pregnancy size and regretted getting rid of some clothes.
I gave up on a lot of “wardrobe essentials” I would see when doing research for my own capsule wardrobe. I like having options, but it comes mostly in jeans and tshirt styles. We just don’t have many fancy events or places to go to and our family gatherings never require anything special. I live in tshirts (long and short sleeve, thank you MO as a fellow native!), sweatshirts, cardigans, and jeans or shorts. I don’t even own a pair of heels anymore. Four kids with one being a six month old is all I have to say for lack of variety 😂
Love this. I am all about neutrals. I also have multiple items in the same exact beige or white shade. It's the best color lol. When you count you don't include shoes or bags right? Just curious. I try to stay around 50 pieces too, but have more like 100 total and half is boxed up because it's not in season. But that's usually counting shoes and some bags. And girl you gotta get some velvet hangers! So much nicer for your shirts so they don't get that annoying hanger poof on the sleeve. Pretty cheap sets are at home goods or Costco!
on the spaghetti strap dresses, I stopped wearing them because I hate strapless bras and won't buy them anymore. However, I have one strappy dress that I love, and have had for years, so what I finally did was buy a long line sports bra so it looks like a tank, and I wear that under the dress.
My husband told me to please expand my horizon 😅 most my clothes are black, white, grey, and a touch of maroon. I am waiting to lose the baby weight before buying anything new. I struggle spending money on myself but can jump on spending money on kids in a heartbeat lol (mama of 4)
I use nippies by Bristol 6 instead of strapless bras and it’s so comfy and easy. Granted it would likely be best for A and B cups Also if you are just worried about sizing post-baby why don’t you put those things away in a box for a season and check in after baby!
The only trend I follow is Pantones color of the year. I will usually purchase something in that color just to feel up to date. Funny, the purplish dress your parents bought you is close to Pantones color for 2023. Digital Lavender.
❤❤❤ You are about to have a baby!! Praise God! These are my favorite videos! I want to use your Amazon link to purchase the outfit in same color. Can you tell me the color and size you are wearing please? I was going to choose Large only because my waist is comfortable in 28" waist bands. I am right now about 27 1/2" waist. Do not like tight elastic on stomach. Never ordered anything a large usually Amazon mediums because Chinese sizes. Hope to hear from you soon. I am ready to hit the button! 🎉🎉🎉 You are having a baby!!! Blessings from NC
I love how you don’t keep things that don’t fit or don’t make you feel pretty I need to do that. You mentioned breastfeeding I was curious what your opinion on extended breastfeeding is? I love hearing your point of view. I feel like it’s always backed by so much research ☺️
Out of interest do you factor in the material your clothing is made out of when you decide what to keep? I’ve been trying to convert to a natural materials wardrobe for a while but sometimes it’s so hard to find certain pieces that are made with just cotton/wool/silk etc…
Margaret your so pretty by the way if you were to take a plain strapless dress and style it with layers of jewelry weither gold or silver depending on the color of the clothing and wear a nice simple shirt underneath but no writing
I got rid of some of my favorite dresses, thinking that I would not fit into it again. Now, I am wishing that I had not given into my hormones, as they were such good quality dresses. Now, I know I could have fit in them.
I feel the same as you! I had a cyst that ruptured right near my bra line. I was desperate to find a bra that didn’t hurt me or make me uncomfortable. My friend told me about those shapermint brand bras (I got the true kind daily wear ones) and oh my word, I bought two to try and then went and got me two more. Most comfortable I’ve ever owned. Didn’t know if you knew about them and just wanted to share, friend! I think I paid like 40ish for a two pack so not too bad. Have a nice day!
How many times will you highlight being a mother in a declutter video? Very interesting indeed. You are dominated by the identity of “motherhood”, and you are spreading this with your words. Moreover, glorifying motherhood is no more than an extra burden placed on mothers. Please read and research a bit.
I regret getting rid of all my clothes while I was pregnant and early postpartum because I thought I wouldn’t lose the weight but at 10 month’s postpartum I was back to my og weight🥲

Yes!! Absolutely agree!!
That purple dress is STUNNING on you. I’m glad you kept it.
It's great when we realize and embrace we are not who we used to be, so liberating! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the sports guy gal stereotype. It can be limiting to be a woman following society's expectations, but so amazing to break them off!

Your definitely my biggest motivator!! Thank you so much for making these videos!!❤
🙏🏼🥺🤍 so so so welcome
I think the easiest thing to wear during pregnancy would be dresses!! I love dresses so much
I agree! You also get to keep wearing them the pregnancy!✨️

Hi Margaret! I was secretly hoping for this video!😄
I've been struggling looking half way decent during my last pregnancies!😆
Loved the green dress!😲💕

moving back to KC this year and I’m not looking forward to the winters again 😭 I feel ya;)
Fantastic video! Very helpful. I didn’t see any shorts. Do you not wear them and why if I may ask?
Love this

Digital Lavender.
I love how you catch yourself making an excuse and change your mind on video 😂
For future reference, The Everlane Way High jeans are 👌🏻 they have more of a wide leg but hug the booty just right and have stretch
You could bring the comfortable jeans to the tailor and just get them a little more fitted around the legs. 😇
How do you find the quality of the Daughters of india dresses? :)
I have the exact same jeans issue. 😂

Hi , love your video's ❤
Its says 0 comments when there are several. The green dress looks like it has eyes on it. Pretty green though.

I feel you so much on the strapless bra...or any bra with an underwire and pushup. Can i wear nursing bras without a wire forever 😂😂😂?
I feel the same as you! I had a cyst that ruptured right near my bra line. I was desperate to find a bra that didn’t hurt me or make me uncomfortable. How gorgeous you are with this third pregancy !!! Love all your clothes ! Kiss from France
Ur so great 😂
Amazing
Skip the strapless bras and where a sports bra under the strappy dresses instead
I always wear a tank top under my spaghetti strap dresses so I can wear a normal bra. Strapless bras are just dreadful.
You a have soooooo many clothes 😂 but love the video

Yes! I refused to do any closet clean outs while pregnant and postpartum. I would have gotten rid of so many nice pieces if I did this!
