- The Pit (1981) Is a Canadian Horror Thriller where Jamie a bullied kid finds a pit full of monsters in the forest. He uses the pit to get revenge an all the people who's wronged him. In this episode we talk about this hidden Canadian Horror Gem. It sounds silly and paint by numbers on the surface, but there's allot more happening in this movie in terms of childhood, puberty and bad parenting.

one of my faves! The Pit walks a fine line between comedy and horror, which makes it so special.
And it's a hard line to walk, very few movies actually get it right.
The main thing about this movie is that once you see it you'll never forget it that's for sure. It's weird and demented. I saw it either on vhs or TV as a kid back in the 90s and it's taken up space in my brain ever since.
Aways loved the ending to this somewhat odd movie. Canadian Horror is waaaay to underrated! 80s Canadian Horror needs more appreciation!
Yup, there's allot of underrated Canadian horror out there. We try to make a effort to shed light on them, and there's many more left to cover. Cheers.
The ending was the best part in my opinion.
I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA. I wishes everyone Happy Canadian Day today. Its on our calendar but not many people know about it. Party Down as Scottie in Evil Dead would say! Thank you guys for all the laughter!
Thanks! glad to see someone looks at the international holidays on the calendar!
Ok huge opportunity missed not rebranding the show "fr fr" 😄. All the kids are saying it! I laughed my ass off thanks fellas 10/10 fricheks
haha yeah, total rebrand, we're gonna change everything from the ground up!
I couldn't help think of Andy's song about the construction pit in "Parks and Recreation" - "I fell into the pit. You fell into the pit. We all fell into the pit." This sounds like a very interesting film - never heard of it. It unavoidably reminds me of the Japanese horror film "Onibaba" ("The Hole") in which the impoverished mother and daughter in feudal Japan lure samurai to their deaths in a pit to steal and sell their armor and valuables. HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!
Never did watch Parks and Recreation... but this "Onibaba" movie sounds interesting.
@@FrightfullyForgotten - It's mainly a drama about the relationship between the two women, the mother and daughter, but it introduces some horror and supernatural elements. It's in B&W and filmed almost entirely among the reeds of a wetland where the mother and daughter live. It ain't drive-in fodder, but it's an intriguing and beautiful film.
Happy Canada Day guy's! Damn fine way to kick the week off.
I heard that Jaime was originally supposed to be a few years younger, which would've made his behavior even grosser.
Yeah the director changed enough from the original screen play to royally piss off the writer.
Happy belated Canada day, you two! I remember picking up a VHS of this from a local thrift store and watching it with a roommate in college. We both were taken aback by Jamie''s creepiness and how bizarre of a movie it is.
Thanks, glad you had a chance to see this on vhs back in the day
You guys should do “trash or treasure” for the 80s horror movie “Rush Week” I personally think it’s a great slasher with one big flaw, no gore, and horror movies can be great and entertaining without gore, but most of the kills don’t even show the weapon hitting a character, it’s just a swing and a cut away, I still think it’s a great horror slasher, definitely a treasure in my opinion
@@BTthekingnocap oh yeah that movie is fun. It's in our long do do list already
@@FrightfullyForgotten Nice!
OMG! & you also reviewed the baby! I like the twisted little girl who plays a trick on the boy she unscrewed her bike then put it back together waiting on him to ride it then he falls I laughed my ass off as much as when the baby hit the fireplace! YES GOD
I'll always comment on a Night Gallery reference. Drinking that brandy, in that blouse, running around with all those women, lol. I think that was the first review I watched.
@@retrosportsvision5873 haha yeah he's awesome man. Love that blouse thing he wears.
Re-Animator has one of my favourite title sequences. So I love what you did here haha! Happy Canada Day!
Glad you enjoyed it!
3:29 wanna ride this bike? HAHAHAHAHA! Golden Moment.
Happy Canada Day. Big fan of the channel.
Awesome! Thank you!
The characters are such divvies that they don't even see a blatantly obvious massive pit before falling down it.
haha yeah that part of the movie is pretty silly!
I only know this movie from reviews, but boy is that some ending! 😳 I need a Pit! 😬Also love the new outro! ❤️
Yes, we all need a PIT! haah cheers.
Happy Canada Day to all my Canadians out there. and don’t get too drunk.
Thanks, we got drunk on the Sunday, weather was too crappy on actual Canada Day for a party.
Cool version of the theme! What the hell is a "hat trap"?
haha it's the super fast jittery hi-hat percussion you hear in ALL modern music.
This movie rules! I found a bootleg DVD about a decade ago 🤘
ah NICE! What was the quality like?
@@FrightfullyForgotten it's pretty good actually
Great movie. I kinda wish I had a Pit as a child. Could've helped me out a lot. lol
We all could have used a pit
This is awesome
Awesome song update I love them both
haha it was meant as a joke!
TRAP HATS!! Lololol
I knew you'd get the music production humor haha
@@FrightfullyForgotten I don’t think you could have fit any more trap hats in that beat lol!! Brilliant…

@@vanderhoff66fu lots of goodies!
I love the pit watched it back in the early 80s with the rest of the video nasties. Oh no I only ever asked my mum to rent me a vhs once I wanted her to rent The exterminator Robert Ginty and she came back with The Gnome mobile 😅😅😅 clearly not on the same page at least the gate was a similar cover 😅😅😅😅 but yeah freaky kid with the national 1980 hairstyle crushing on his baby sitter I think I read that they changed either the writer or director because they wanted more of the pervert plot ??? The producers refused and replaced that idea 😅😅 weird time 1980. Great movie, though, and yea I kind of feel for the kid having no friends and being bullied but laughed when he fed the old biddie in the wheelchair to the trogs. And yeah I'm with you Justine Fuck the microphones we do need wigs though 😅😅😅
haha the Gnome Mobile what the hell is that?
Happy Canada Day!!!
I got this a while ago it’s pretty good
So cheese.. im out
