- Horse Progress Days 2010 - Innovations in Draft Animal Power
Horse Progress Days is an annual event that encourages and promotes the combination of animal power and the latest equipment innovations in an effort to support small scale farming and land stewardship. It shows that show Draft Animal Power is possible, practical, and profitable.
Sam Moore narrates this episode of Horse Progress Days in 2010 held in Topeka, Indiana. He explains the features of each implement or machine int he static displays. There is abundant footage of draft horse and mule teams demonstrating each implement which gives us a front row seat at the show. The beautiful and powerful teams of Belgians, Percherons, Fjords, Haflingers, mules and more are a highlight!
Dale Stoltzfus starts the show explaining the origins of Horse Progress Days which was a vision of Elmer Lapp of Kinders, PA. John Deere, Oliver and McCormick-Deering had ceased production of horse drawn implements. Elmer knew that many people were manufacturing these in their own shops and wanted them to be demonstrated for people who would want to use them. The increase in emphasis on sustainable farming practices and locally grown produce has helped the make this event grow with each passing year
Sprinkled throughout the show is footage of the many things to do at HPD including crowd shots, food venders, petting zoo and more.
Maynard and Joyce Failing of Carson city Nevada and Will Beaty of Ellijay, Georgia are interviewed about their experiences at HPD.
The show is divided into categories depending on the usage of the equipment. Throughout the show Sam shows forecarts are used in assisting the draft horse teams. These are the forecart manufacturers featured: Pioneer Equipment, White Horse Machine, Miller Repair Shop, I&J, Farm Boy, Trail Farm Supply, Gateway, EZ Trail Hogback. I&J had a ground driven PTO cart in 2 sizes that Sam explains in detail.

The thing for the tiller is awsome could use id for more then tiller it could pull brush hog and basicaly makes it so you have at direct power 3pt hitch tractor using your horse put a team of 3 or 4 horses and you can do it all i could lay platic run a water wheel planter. Pto sprayer u name it could be used for way more then bug kuhn tiller

I always heard ground driven did not do well in snow and ice.
A small farm all H or M would handle that equipment with ease.
I dont know y all the ones with a lift dont use batery hydrolic instead of hand pump probly has to do with amish not having pewer
Easy spreader will rot out faster stuff is going to get under that floor and never get washer out the polly floor should be like a tub the rap the floor and up sides
