I had borla s type on my 2003 anniversary c5. The 111 lsa cam gave it a beautiful chop, mellow at cruise but roared at full throttle. I never turned my radio on again, love that sweet Borla sound. Just bought a c7 z51. Borla is going on it.
Agree 100% with your reasoning for maintaining a sound variable exhaust. Especially here in CA! My problem with the Borla system is the tips are not very good looking.
Great suggestion on connecting with others that have different exhausts on the same car as you have. I did that as well because a video or someone's opinion will only set you up for disappointment. Good vid.
I'd take the borla any day. I have little kids sleeping upstairs and I leave for the gym at 4am. No need to make my neighbors hate me. Also love when I'm in the phone or talking to a passenger to have the stealth mode. Even with the stock exhaust on track mode it's super loud with windows down or the roofs off.
Give me the louder one, if changing the exhaust from stock doesn't make much of a difference why spend the cash? Plus, what's up with the crooked ass borla tips? That would drive me crazy.
Does this car have long tube headers? Reason why i ask because i had a 2014 Camaro with NNP and put long tubes with high flow cats and sounded amazing with the factory mufflers. Thinking of just doing headers first on the Z06 and run the factory nnp
Have you heard them both in person? Because on video we would agree with you, in person AWE in our opinion has a MUCH deeper growl and isn't raspy at all.. in fact quite the opposite...perhaps it's because we installed the NPP version..
The best take off was borla with valves closed these exhaust are emptying out to fast and losing power just as i suspected about the AWE your giving up power for sound

My vote is AWE. I've always loved being able to enjoy the exhaust from inside the cabin too.
Have you heard both of them in person? How would you describe them if so because the audio in video recording just isn't accurate

Yes the Awe is loud and will wake the neighbors at 4am!! but then why spend $2-3k on a borla exhaust that sounds essentially the same as a stock NPP?
Then why change the exhaust at all? Borla sucks.

The real question is if dyno tested the borla gave you more HP would you still go with the AWE ?
Between these two, AWE for the better fitment and workmanship. But the stock NPP with AWE or Borla x-pipe sounds more raw than both of these.

Yup and that's why we took down the Borla and we back to the AWE
Trying to find some info on the AWE how is it in 7th gear on the highway inside the cabin. Guys have said there is no droning at all?

No headers just axelback exhaust. If you install headers let us know how it sounds with the NPP
AWE all day i would keep stock over Borla because there isnt enough difference in sound
