    I was just telling Matthew about the "no rounding" policy there. Such a bummer! He was relieved to not be at that point yet (if his program of choice in the future does have a similar policy, that is). You still did amazing, regardless though! Forward progress! 💪💪💪

    Loved this video so much and how you hit all the points! I finished my first week, and it's already kicking my butt and is super stressful. They really aren't clear with anything; it's frustrating. Hopefully these tips will help me succeed!

      Thank you so much for your comment 😊! Congratulations on finishing your first week 👏. That's a feat in and of its own. Yes, even with this semester for me it's still so "up in the air" and confusing with them 🙄😫. I hope that at least something I said can help you succeed! Keep going!! 🎉

    Wow , I was actually considering Valencia for the bridge program 🤭 and we actually work for the same company I’m currently looking for a position part time. Best of luck to you 💕

      I know a few people in the ATN (bridge program) and they tell me it's just as unorganized as the Traditional program. That being said, if you're just looking for somewhere inexpensive to get your degree then this might be an option for you. It's a struggle to make it through but it could be worth it depending on you situation. Are you working full time right now? What do you do?

      @@MDtoRN I’ve always heard iffy things about their program but I didn’t know much about the bridge program until I decided to just go the LPN route after being denied from seminoles ADN program twice . I work full time now in corporate pre-registration and my program starts next month . It seems like a hassle to find a part time position smh

    Hello, Melissa!😊 I am a current nursing student at Valencia too! I would like to start off by thanking you for taking the time to make these videos. I chose to go the part-time route based on your advice…no regrets here lol! Do you have any advice for how to prepare for the Benchmarks? We were told to use NurseThink and our course material. For mental health (prof. Borrero), we only need to meet the average to earn an A. However, for intro the score we earn is the score that stays. I am very nervous about this. Especially since many students from last semester have said this was the reason they did not pass. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated❤ and an early congratulations on your upcoming graduation 🎉

      Hi Karissa! Thank you for stopping by to leave a comment :). I'm so glad that you are liking the part-time schedule. It is much more doable than full-time, in my opinion. Honestly, no, I don't have a lot of advice for the Benchmarks. I wish that I did but what I've learned is really that there isn't a one-size-fits-all to the Benchmark exams when it comes to studying. I have not found a single source that has helped me. They are not created for students to know everything on them but to gauge how well students are doing across the nation and how much knowledge they've acquired during the different phases of nursing school. Of course, that doesn't help your grade at all if the teachers don't adjust the grading scale to match the national average. I wish I had an ingenious answer to offer you but I, myself, never even learned the trick to this. I do think NurseThink may help. When I took Intro in the Fall 2021, the scores were so low that they had to give a few extra point assignments at the very end of class. I don't know if they'll still do this but hopefully, that will help some at least. I had no idea that Intro didn't adopt the new grading policy for Benchmarks. Intro is a very *rough* class but once you make it through, nothing will seem quite as difficult as that class. I hope this helps you at least a little bit. Congratulations on your starting nursing school as well this past semester!! 💓🥳

      @karissam2969 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate your response, Melissa!❤ Thank you for clarifying about the benchmarks. And yes, intro still doesn’t adjust the grade based on the national average. Maybe I will get lucky and they will implement that next semester lol! I am also nervous about next semester because the full-time students in my cohort said the Professor for health assessment is retiring. Honestly, having a new Professor makes anxious, but I’m trying to remain optimistic about next semester.
      Thank you again! I’m looking forward to seeing where your nursing career takes you😊

      @@karissam2969 They didn't have it when I was in Intro either or any other first and second-semester classes :( so I feel the pain. I believe ALL the other courses have adopted the national grading policy for benchmarks though so you should be good. I wonder which professor you are speaking about. My professor was completely online and we had to make videos from home of all of our assessments lol. It was a bit silly but it worked I guess. Hopefully, yours will be on-campus. It's much better that way for health assessment at least. I think you'll be fine with whatever teacher you get for that class as I don't know that any of the previous ones seemed notable (in my opinion). You're so welcome. I am excited to make a wrap-up video in the next few weeks with a few new things that have happened. I hope the end of your semester goes great!

      Hello! Yes, it is indeed because Valencia doesn't allow you to work on your BSN concurrently with their ASN program. However, Valencia does allow you to take BSN classes at UCF online concurrently with your ASN. It's really a bit confusing so I hope this made sense.

    Thank you so much for giving your honesty regarding the program! I could see the challenges the professors have with upgrading material and adjusting according to the new program and also challenging for students because we rely on the professors for guidance. Syllabus are key!
    I know this isn't something mentioned in the video but, for the math perquisite do you know if Valencia accepted college algebra or statistics?

    • @MDtoRN
      @MDtoRN  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're so welcome! You're right, there are challenges in the teachers side too but some of the behaviors can be a bit off-putting . The math requirement is something to check the website or an advisor for because things change so often and I don't want to give you the wrong advice. It says 6 math credits needed at the College Algebra level it higher. It looks like Liberal Arts math counts too.

    Congratulations finishing your first nurse semester 😍❤️ What’s the schedule like when you are a part time student? How many hours a day or how many days a week? I don’t work but I have a baby and I need to see daycare/babysitter.
    And I want to see how I could go back to school. Valencia is the only place that offers a part time option.

    • @MDtoRN
      @MDtoRN  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much!! 💓 That really depends on which semester and classes you are taking. When you're part time the first semester you take 1 class and the remainder is 2 classes a semester until you get to your last semester it's 3 classes. A lot of the classes are virtual but the labs are usually on site. I would guess that generally you'd be on campus 1-2 days a week as part time. I'm sad that they are the only option that is part time too 😭. I wish there was another option.

      Don't forget you need to get your immunizations, preferably through your primary provider. If you had immunizations, you need to get titers test done. Advent health has a discount for them but you need proof that you are in the program. Also, try your luck enrolling for evening/weekend or Osceola. Day time professors are very strict. And try to get the cpr BLS certification in valencia, it will save you 20+ dollars, CPR certification is always rescheduling their classes, I got my class rescheduled 3 times and customer services is not that great. Uniforms are about 40$ a piece of clothing, NAL kit is 55$

    hey, so I recently graduated from valencia college and I completed my AA general study degree and I am waiting for their ASN nursing application and I was hoping if you can do a video in what to expect in your first semester or clinicals and what time bring and what not too bring to clinicals. I have been extremely scared to apply too nursing school. it would be great if you can share that. by the way, are in the west or the osceola campus? I am not sure how it works if i decide to do the daytime will it be in west or osceola campus. good luck in your nursing school journey! :)

      Congratulations on graduating from Valencia!! I believe the applications open 1/14. So only a few days! Have you watched all of my other videos? I do speak quite a bit on what to expect from your first semester however making a short video on that whole topic by itself and what to bring or not to clinicals is a great idea! I'm at West campus in the daytime. I believe daytime is at either West or Osceola but you can't change between them once you decide. Thank you and good luck to you too!!

      Hi Evelly! I don't really feel like my opinion has changed much since my last video, unfortunately. While the classes are better this semester, the disorganization remains a major concern in my eyes. I'm actually going to try to record a video tonight so that I can share it with everyone. Stay tuned! Also, I am so excited that you will be applying. Are you going to apply for Fall or next Spring?

      I applied for the summer term but I was not accepted (point system) I had not finished my A&P2 which is worth 15points while the other classes are worth 5-10points. I will apply again for fall 2022 hopefully now I will get accepted. Thank you for your videos they are extremely helpful!

    • @MDtoRN
      @MDtoRN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evellycarvalho7720 my friend also applied for summer term and we denied. Among other things you mentioned, I believe that may partially have to do with the fact that Osceola isn't admitting any new students in the summer and their current students are going to join the West campus (less open seats). They really, really want you to have A&P 2 done first, if possible even though you can now apply and take it with your program. When I applied it was a requirement to have all of the prereqs completely finished so while it's not required now they make it very beneficial. I honestly wouldn't want to take A&P if I were doing the full time nursing program. Maybe you can finish that up this summer? That's my recommendation. The full time program is intense and so is A&P. I'm wishing the best for you and I hope you get admitted this fall 🙏.
