We visit the magnificent castle, the second largest in Britain and take a quick look around the town.
The following day we head to Tredegar House, a 17th century mansion, home to the Morgan family for over 500 years. Ken is keen to find out more about the Black Magic that was practiced there.
Before we head for home, we meet up with Graham and Ellie aka Wizard in the Wild. Check out their link below.

Happy New year ❤❤Ken and Carol ❤
A very happy New Year. I have enjoyed your videos this past year. Thank you.
A very happy new year Ken and carol
All the best Ken and Carol for 2025, have loved the viedoes this year as well. Cheers from Australia, Judy
Im am a huge dog lover and dog owner but have to admit I would be very wary of the dogs you showed on the campsite. ✌️❤️
I love dogs & have owned dogs, but I agree with you, those dogs should not have been roaming free
Ken concerning those big dogs running around loose i would be absolutely terrified.😮😢 Wishing you both a happy 2025.xxx
I am a dog owner, and have been around dogs since I was a small child and I don’t let mine off to run about. I really do not like it when I am out walking them and some people have their dog off lead, it drives me mad when they can’t control them and I have go another route to avoid them racing up to mine. The owners are not watching, but if they are they are shouting to tell me they are friendly, but one of my dogs is very nervous of other dogs and feels threatened when on a lead. When the owners are not looking, their dogs could be fouling anywhere, so it is not being picked up, don’t get me started… oh it seems I have 😂. Love your videos! ❤
I would be nervous to get out of the van with those dogs roaming around. Thanks for your usual wonderful video and Happy New Year to you both.
There is no way I would stay on that CL with those three dogs loose. One, because I would feel intimidated and two, I would be worried about stepping in something unsavoury! Great vlog thanks. Wishing you a Happy and healthy new year.
Another great video, thank you. Happy new year. I agree with you as a dog owner, personally I don’t think you can trust any dog absolutely 100% however well trained they are.
@@richardayres2949 Happy New Year. Safe travels 🥳🙂
With you on the dog point, the trouble with 'dog people', is they humanise dogs, that doesn't end well. They were big, powerful and in a pack 😬
Great videos, only been a subscriber a few months so new to your channel, Have a great New year guys ❤🙏
Welcome to the channel. Thanks for subscribing 🙂👍
Hey guys , lovely video. I'm not afraid of dogs ,but am very cautious, and I would not be comfortable with those dogs on the loose,I would avoid a place like that. We have had people attacked by loose dogs here and seriously injured, including a child not far away , has life changing injuries. You just can't know what way a dog or dogs will react.
Sorry to hear about those attacks. Children are especially vulnerable. Just goes to show how careful we need to be around dogs we are not familiar with 👍
Shoe laces. I had the same thing, form the loop and go around twice instead of once, works a treat. Love the content by the way!!
I just love your content. I am currently reading a book about a man bicycling through Britain and was able to visualize the countryside and castles because of your wonderful travels. Thank you for sharing!!!
Loved watching your adventures thanks for sharing. Dogs off leads have been a huge problem for us this year on & off caravan sites, I don’t understand why dog owners think it’s ok to have a dog to wonder about in public places, our puppy has been nearly attacked a number of times, but the owners just Don’t care, the rules on sites say Dogs on leads, campsites are not dog parks to run free around.
I would have turned around and left that site with the those dogs roaming around. Better to be safe than sorry. Happy New Year x
We have a Shih Tzu who always comes camping with us, and we definitely would not feel happy with three huge dogs roaming freely around the campsite! 😬
I’m a classic Doctor Who fan so thanks for saying what you said! I helped out a lot with Doctor Who stars at American and British sci if conventions, and it was a golden age I’ll never forget.
It’s just not as good as it was 😕
I definitely agree with you about the dogs.
Great video. I agree with you that the dogs would make me nervous. Domestic dogs will form a pack and hunt and then go back to being family dogs. It is their nature. I am glad you are okay, I wouldn't let a small dog out around them. That could be an entirely different story.
I have just completed my third long distance walk - at the age of 59 I never thought I would need help in tying my boot laces - your method is genius 👍 have a great 2025 you two
@@andrew-to4mj congrats on the walking achievement. Happy New Year to you 🥳
I am a dog lover and owner but would not have wanted to get out of the van with those animals loose. I always wonder why people want to keep dogs like that. Thank you for another interesting vlog.
SO strange to see you guys less than 1000 yards from where I went to school!!
Loved the video touring the castle, pack of dogs no thank you, I have a small dog and if I saw that I would of driven straight off out of there, happy new year to you both ❤
Thank you! This is an excellent video! Great! Job!
I’ve owned and looked after some big dogs, including German shepherds but I’d have been very nervous to get close to those three dogs. They really shouldn’t have been allowed to wander around unsupervised.
Happy New Year Carol and Ken, hope 2025 is a great year for you, safe travels in Snoopy, cheers, Garry from DownUnder
Lovely video guys. Have to I would of been terrified of those dogs. We travel with our soppy, cuddly Retriever who would also of been terrified of them. When so many sites quite rightly ask for all dogs to be kept under strict control this is very irresponsible of whoever owns those dogs, friendly or not to let them roam loose. I would not have been able to stay, even tho it looked a lovely site. Safe travels both 😊x
Hi folks, another lovely video. I have 5 large dogs, the only time i ever walk them together is if we are going to a local dog park, in which they will be the only dogs in there, if taking to the local park i walk them individually, well i cheat im not walking i have a power chair, but the dogs walk, the reason for this is im very aware of the affect large dogs bounding over to say hello can be daunting, my dogs are all trained to obey on a command, it also gives me individual time with them, a bonding experience for both, i have never understood why some owners allow there animals to wander freely in a public space, unless they are in the vicinity how can they say there animal's are under control, you are very right to be wary of these situations.
Love the picture holders. Interesting castle, hope it withstood the rescent storms.
The dogs may well be friendly but when theres 2 or more together, pack mentality kicks in and anything can happen, especially if they come across a reactive dog, it wouldn't stand a chance. Border collies in geberal tho are pretty friendly 😊 Great vid, look forward to your next years adventures. Atb ❤
Happy New Year.. and thank you for your amazing vlogs, which I thoroughly enjoy x
I'm 66 I'm not changing the way I tie my shoe laces now😂 All the best for 2025 we'll be watching every Friday. Happy new year 🎉
Malcolm and Sheila from Workington on the edge of the lake district.
You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. We know that feeling 😂👍
Why do people do that and let dogs that size roam free, they might be friendly to their owners but you don't know how they're going to react to different people and other dogs . Thanks for the video carol and ken and happy new year 🎊
Great video as always. See you on the 17th Jan. 😊
@@KnightsVanVentures 👍❤️
Best ending to any video you have ever done 🥩🌱 thanks guys for being open minded & honest
Wow, thanks for another great video! I love to watch your travels. And yes, those big puppies would have scared me. And I have a Doodle! Sweet dogs until they see a bunny or cat! Looking forward to the next series! Sherry ❤🇨🇦🐶
Great video! Those dogs looked intimidating. the stones in a circle in Tredegar House are Eisteddfod Stones from (1988) when a gathering of Welsh poets and cultural celebrations are held every year in different areas of Wales, they leave this behind.
@@debbiewalters4981 thanks for the info on the stones 🙂👍
Love to know who owns the dogs 🐕. Really enjoyed your video once again 😊
Hello Ken and Carol. Thanks so much for the lovely video, I enjoyed it so much. Hope that you both are doing good. Your dinner looks delicious. Hope that you have a wonderful day. Take care.
What a great episode! The castle was wonderful. The dogs looked pretty chill but I'd have stayed out of their reach just in case.
What a nice treat to find one more video for the year...see you in 2025! Happy new year.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas. Thanks for your wonderful videos over the past year (and beyond!). I have a fear of dogs that I don’t know. It goes back to my teen days when I was walking home late at night. A very large Alsatian spotted me and chased me! Luckily a phone box was nearby which I promptly ran into! About a half hour later I spotted a policeman on patrol who came to my aid and he walked me to my home which was only round the corner! The dog just disappeared back to its home! 😅 look forward to new series next year!
Happy New Year, Carol and Ken
No I didn't like the look of those dogs, they would have definitely made me uneasy. Even if they are friendly. 👍🐸
@@Kermit-Si Happy New Year. Safe travels 🥳🙂
The memorial to the horse reminded me of visiting Deene Park as a child, where the stuffed head of a Charge of the Light Brigade horse was displayed in a glass case! Those dogs would worry me too, as dog owner.
Great video, thankyou. I am with you on the dog issue. I would feel exactly the same. Merry christmas to you and a happy New Year🎉
hi Carol &ken love watching your videos very entertaining Happy New year from Brenda and Micky oxfordshire 😊
I live about a 10 minute drive from caerphilly and im yet to go inside the castle, its lovely in the summer outside the grass is just like a sea of daisies its lovely.
Hi you two, I would like to thank you for all those wonderful video's this year, wish you a happy healthy 2025 🍾🥂🥰.
Hi, you could have stayed at the campsite at Tredeger House. We have and had a great stay there.
Happy New Year to you both.🤙
First of all, a bit late, but still happy Newyear Ken and Carol! Those dogs would make me skip this place and find another place 😊 A quick wuestion, we’re planning a six week holiday to the UK, May/first week June and wonder, is it worth the money to join the Camping and Caravanning Club? The plan is Scotland and Uk where the wind takes us 😉 Thanks for (maybe) a bit of advice 😀
This vlog was lovely . What nice places you visited . Thank you for sharing . The new series sounds good too x
One of my favourite episodes 👍
Thank you 🙏
Don’t think I’d getting out where those huge dogs 🐕 were
Great 👍 video of Wales. 🏴
Thanks 🙏 again
Happy 😃 New Year 🎉🎉🎉
Australia 🇦🇺 🦘🦘👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Thanks again we really appreciate your generosity ❤️❤️❤️
Np.What u do is actually work so it should be appreciated.💕
Thank you Carol and Ken, great video as always. Personally, I would have been terrified of those dogs. Can't wait to see your next videos, looks like Hever Castle and maybe Woburn. Happy New Year.
Keep well ❤x
This is one of your best tours of a property Loved the Castle! thanks for sharing❤
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Wishing you both all the very best for 2025 ! 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Ken and Carol for another great video,Wales is certainly lovely place, and i myself love wandering around castles, stately homes and history, where ever i travel,Greetings from Stockholm Sweden
🤣shoelaces!!! Use Velcro fasteners!😁Ken I share your distrust of huge dogs like that. My little pipsqueak would get herself killed ! She hates all dogs , even the smell of dogs on other people. She’s a very vocal, very aggressive Chihuahua. Some say they are more fearsome than big dogs😅
Those are actually really nice photos
Happy new year to you both. We've spent most of the night binge watching your old videos 😀
@@grahammarsden9578 haha, that’s great 👍 Thanks for watching ❤️

Ken l love dr who , but l get lost in the new plot twists 😂
Love Animals but those dogs shouldn't be roaming free. Happy and healthy New Year Carol and Ken and look forward to 17th Jan 2025 vlog
Another great Vlog, totally understand your concerns (and others) regarding those dogs. Sadly it'll be too late if they turned on someone, or someone's pet.
Looking forward to your future Vlogs in 2025.
Happy New Year to you both
Who did the dogs belong to I wonder. Anyway , great vlog as ever and really looking forward to the national trust tours. I've visited them all where I live so eager to see what's further afield.
Hi Carol and Ken, another great video really enjoyed it, I don't know how Ken managed to walk beside those dog's see you both soon 💖🙂💖xxxx ( happy new - year xx
Hiya Guys,
Another great and very informative video, they are really so interesting to watch and very relaxing.
May I take this opportunity to wish you both a very HAPPY NEW YEAR and enjoy the rest you deserve it!. ❤
Thanks for all you've shown us in this video, the huge castle was awesome, the narrow lanes frightening, the last mansion had very interesting historical facts and last but not least the dogs, am a dog lover but respect them when 3 come bounding up to me, not to be trusted... Keep safe...
One of the dogs looked like a mastiff, I know this bcos my dad had one, they r really dominant n arrogant so back them up with some friends n they can b deadly. Ken was right to b wary. Also did anyone see wat was written on the park info sign?🤣The castle was ok but like Ken said it’s all a bit pointless in the end and I’ve never watched dr who but can tell dei is all over it so it’s going to flop. The fake steak tasted better than it looked apparently which was lucky. So many things to comment on bcos they make great videos.
Thank you. Happy new year. All of the best.
Great vlog thank you both very much 👍👍👍🏴🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
Enjoyed your video thank you and seeing you meet up with Graham and Ellie. I love their Wizard in the Wild channel too. 😊
Wow Caerphilly Castle looks splendid! One for us in 2025 we think. We went to some Cadw properties in the past year or two and thought they were excellent value for money. Also we are with you on the point about dogs roaming Ken. We both said as we were watching we would be wary too. Wishing you both a happy and healthy 2025!
@@WhereNextAdventures and to you, safe travels 🥳❤️
This was a long and varied video that I throughly enjoyed. Can’t wait for the new series. Mary
I agree about the dogs. I've had a couple of bad experiences with dogs, so am wary of them. More than two IS a pack - and I wouldn't be comfortable at all with them roaming free around the site.
I will avoid that site accordingly!
And Happy New Year to you both!
Thanks for another year of interesting videos. I think I agree with your nervousness about those dogs!!
A little off topic but - those chairs you were sitting in at home eating your Juicy Marbles look really comfortable. What make are they??
Wishing you both a Happy New Year and looking forward to following your adventures in 2025 😊👍
@@TheCaravanGoodLife thanks for watching. Those are Stressless recliners 🙂
I so love your videos they make me happy.
Very enjoyable video. Although the dogs seemed fine, I wouldn’t have let our old dog out around them without knowing them. Ours was attacked by a dog and it was an awful sight to witness and impossible to get the dog to let go. Over 20 stitches later... Wishing you both a very happy new year and I’ll look forward to the National Trust series. X
I too would not have been comfortable in the company of those large dogs and I have had dogs all my life !
Regarding the steaks I am baffled to why vegetarians want there food to look like meat 😜
Because they crave the texture and taste 👍
I’m 62 years old and a little slow on the uptake, just today I realized I can watch TH-cam on my Roku, lol. Nonetheless, I watched your final 2024 episode on our Smart TV! Enjoy your well deserved break, see you on Jan 17th, take care.
Thank you, Carol and ken, for another fantastic video. I loved the history of the castle/horse in battle, also ken I'll give the shoe laces ago,im always having trouble with mine ,All the Best for the New Year to you both.😊X
You can't beat soup bulked out with beans..!! My go to winter belly warmer,
It's so nice in the depths of British winter, to see beautiful green trees/countryside,
To remind us of what's to come within months!
Hope you both had a wonderful Christmas with all your friends and family,
All the very best both ❤
Thank you both for another year of excellent YouTubing! There is no way those dogs should be allowed to roam around like that. It takes a split second... very irresponsible, and I'm sad to say that as a dog owner.
Great vid Carol & Ken Happy New Year for 2025😁
Loved the video and the castle was amazing along with the home you visited. Happy New Year 🎊
Thank you for the great video's this year Carol and Ken. Looking forward to the next ones in 2025! Happy New Year.
I really enjoyed that video. Looking forward to your series on the National Trust properties in the South East, many of which I have visited
Happy New year from Australia...really enjoy your videos...we have a sprinter campervan so we know how wonderful a van can be...all the best for 2025
Great last vlog from Wales 👍. You visited some beautiful places with lots of history, love it. I agree on the dogs, one can never underestimate the situation. I'm glad they were friendly. Happy new year 🎉
Loved the Vlog ! Tredegar house looked great. Those dogs although they looked docile you do wonder what would happen if our 3 met them. As you say a pack! I think many folks would be scared of them. Thanks for the shoutout guys. Was really nice to have you here. We must do it again ! Glad you liked the Juicy Marbles…. A bit. 🤣. Have a good short break. Xx
Lovely to meet you all at last. We look forward to doing it again ❤️. As for the Juicy Marbles I have to confess they didn’t convert me but luckily we have an excellent butcher within walking distance. 😁👍
Great video as usual guys. 👍🏻 I’m going to try your shoelace technique as mine come undone all the time and drives my husband bonkers!!.
As for those dogs, on their “facilities” section on S4S, it shows no dogs allowed. So if I turned up there, expecting a dog-free site, and saw those dogs roaming around I’d leave straight away. Rach & Dave. 😊
That’s interesting 🤔
Another great video, thank you. I'm a huge dog lover, and we have our own German Short Haired Pointer, who we ensure is on a lead at all times on campsites. I would be unhappy staying at the CL with three large dogs roaming free. I think we would have left without staying and would refer our concerns to the CAMC. The vegan steaks looked interesting. Loved Caerphilly Castle and Tredegar House. What a fantastic horse. Looking forward to the next series. Have a lovely break. Happy New Year ❤ xxxx
Thanks for watching. Happy New Year to you both and Bateman 🥂🥳
Although I know many new vans come with free dog, ( ha ha) ,not a fan at all. Lovely video, happy New year
Very nice video, you 2 take all of us to such lovely places and we certainly appreciate it.😊 see you both in a couple of weeks. Take care and God bless.
Hi ken and carol, enjoyed this video at the hospital, love 💕 the history lessons carol.
As for the dogs I would not step out with a pack of dogs, you never know, they could just turn and that's not good.

Hi! Hope you’re both well!
Love your chivalry on letting Carol go first on those stairs at the castle! 😂
Re the campsite dogs; I have a large dog and would not let her wander around a campsite off lead despite her being a very friendly Dulux dog!. I wouldn’t feel comfortable about walking her in that area. In fact I wouldn’t stay anywhere where dogs are off lead and just roaming around. I don’t understand why the owner of the property allows three massive dogs to be in the same area as ‘guests’ ?! You are right to mention ‘pack mentality’.
Interesting to see the ‘steak’! Just checked and they are currently £9 for those 2 steaks - might give it a go!
Wanted to ask where you purchased your door fly screen from?! Are you still happy with it?
And finally, thank you as always for another fabulous and informative video! ❤
@@marlou2411 thanks for watching. The door flyscreen was an optional extra fitted by Consort Motorhomes. We are very happy with it 🙂
You were seriously brave driving through those narrow lanes around Rudry & Cefn Mably they are horrendous and you get a lot of idiots driving through them, Our daughter lives in Trethomas just outside Caerphilly and I always go the longer way round from where we live as i hate driving through them. Hoping you both had a lovely Christmas and wishing you both a very Happy & Prosperous New Year
Great video as always have a wonderful New Year 🎉❤
I so enjoy the way you travel through the cities and you show off all the castles or you guys are so good at explaining enjoy you always
I think you were right to be wary of those dogs, two or more they become a pack and anything could spook them. Always trust your instincts as I'm sure you do knowing what you used to do. Happy New Year to you both and look forward to more great content in the new year.
