This guy doesn't get enough credit. The level of musicianship is amazing but as a lyracist here is one of the greatest. This song embodies one of the best prose that one could ask for. Deep meaning, parable, and even a but if whinsy
I don't want to take anything away from M ward's playing, but just to offer a different perspective. . . th-cam.com/video/vO4XE9aHg-o/w-d-xo.html @3:31
It's in open D tuning, which makes it a lot easier to play. The finger picking style he has is hard as hell, but if you want to just learn the chords, you can just strum them and play it that way. This is the only song I've learned to play AND sing at the same time. You should totally do it!
It is called being in the moment, and not caring that there is an audience. People, that will, pick apart every little detail. Does that answer the question? Maybe you have been there yourself, I have.
pourtant j'ai trainé, partout, mais j'ai jamais entendu une chanson meillieure que celle là . chapeau ! et merci pour ma grand mère , c'est ce qu'on écouté le jour de' l'enterrement . Elle aurait sans doute aimé .
Somebody was talking to me, so I hit pause on my laptop. Then I realized this was playing live from TH-cam. This live set had me fooled that it was playing through iTunes. M. Ward is that good.
agree that hes an incredible guitarist, but a lot of his sound comes from playing in d6 or open d. try it, anything you play will sound like an m ward song

Better than sam beam?
M. Ward is so comfortable with his instrument it's insane. It's hard to find a man that can play with this kind of fluid-ness.
I'd say Andrew Bird comes pretty darn close. (This post is two years old I know, but I had to respond).

Well, I guess that’s all the views then.

I listened to this song 100 times before I really knew what he was saying. It's a song where the lyrics and the music are just as great together
This is so freaking awesome
Such soul
No contemporary artist more thoroughly understands the guitar than him. Not just able to play or able to write, but able to understand. So amazing.
This is such a brilliant song, one of my favourites
I think this is my favourite TH-cam video. Wonderful
Why does this not have 45,000,000 deserved views
This is totally totally brilliant, this is M Ward's best song in my opinion
i love finding good live videos like this. m ward rocks my socks off.

It's worth every moment if you ever get the chance.
@@Mthomas116-t1m I second that, I've traveled from Edinburgh to London to see him and went to another gig just to see his support slot.
This is the song I will have playing when I put my kids to sleep. I would love it if he made a lesson on how to play this on guitar..
