    Two of my favorite quotes ever in the same video. ( pardon me if there's a slight mis-quote, my memory isn't great) "you gotta have baits in the water to catch fish" and my favorite of all time " I don't collect fishing tackle, I collect fishing memories" love it! Of course most of my fishing memories are of losing big ones or falling in the water, or just going home cold and set empty handed.😊

  • @longsnipz
    @longsnipz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Diawa reels are what I use... Diawa Sealine SHV 40. I like them better than my Abu 7000 C3. Those Diawa have a much better gear ratio for when you need to get your bait back in without hitting every log on the way back.

    After watching you use the Seagate, I purchased a couple. Something I'm running into is theres some many things you can do with it. Can you please make a tutorial for the Seagate? I think it would be valuable to the whole community. Just simple thins like the rod clamp, setting the clicker, drag, etc. I'm using them tonight. Went bait fishing yesterday and have some good crappie I'm going to use. Thanks!

    I've been curious what running the tip of your rod in the water does for you at the end of sending a bait down? Not something I've seen done here in NM. Thanks for the videos

    • @chase1699
      @chase1699 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s his way of measuring a couple feet off the bottom. He holds his rod tip out of the water and then reels in as he drops the tip down a foot or two. I always wonder the same thing

    • @ericl2969
      @ericl2969 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm surprised this isn't more obvious. There must be a lot of people who never fish below their boat. If you stick your rod tip to a known depth below the surface and take up the slack and then move your rod to the holder, the distance from where your rod tip WAS to where it IS when in the holder is exactly equal to how far the sinker was raised off the bottom. And you already know how long your leader is, so from there, you know how far your bait is off the bottom.

    • @ericl2969
      @ericl2969 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a reel like that ages ago. You have to manipulate the line with your thumb and forefinger as you retrieve. Not something you want to mess with for repeated casting, but when mostly just waiting for bites, tolerable. But with a full spool, there's no room for error in accidentally letting the line pile up a little bit on one side, and of course you need a full spool for maximizing casting distance (everything is a trade-off, I guess).
