WillieManga I’m not saying it’s not funny! I agree with what you’re saying- heck, one of my favorite gaming videos of all time is Vinny from Vinesauce doing his impressions of the characters in the choicest voice. But it doesn’t change the fact that the game doesn’t function the way it says it does. It disguises itself as a game of skill when it doesn’t require it to win. So it’s still one of the worst party games.
Mario Party 8 is one of my favorite games in the series, however I can't help but agree that Flip the Chimp is the worst. The motion controls are so unresponsive.
The instructions kind of screw you over. They show you that you need to hold the Wiimote like a joystick and moveit to the left or right to flip the chimp….you don’t. You can just aim the Wiimote at the sensor bar and tilt it left or right instead.
Usually I don’t comment on videos, but I just wanted to tell you these Mario Party videos were great! As someone who’s been following you since the first Zelda Month, your videos have been a bit hit-or-miss with me as of late. But these had almost none of my usual gripes (lots of screaming instead of making actual jokes, giving one joke or subject way too much time, forcing a song into every video). I think Mario Month is a nice change of pace and there’s a lot you could do with it! I’m late, so you probably won’t see this anyways, but these are just my two cents, the important thing is that you do whatever you feel is best (you’re the first TH-camr I ever started watching and your videos have helped me through a lot, so it’d take more than you can probably do to get me to stop watching ;)

10 was the worst for me, I'm not hating on the Amiibo gameboard, but it only comes with one so I can't play with anybody who wants do that and the Bowser minigames were so unbalanced

The only reason why I search for random Mario Party TH-cam channels is to solely watch them play this minigame. WiiLikeToPlay? There for this minigame. Vinesauce? There for this minigame. ProtonJon? Yes, TOTALLY not there for this minigame.
I actually really like Mario Party 8. A lot of fond memories with that game, and the parts that suck really don't suck _that_ much at all. Certainly not enough to make the experience unenjoyable.
It is a game with a lot of problems. The wii had become more of a family console- it makes sense that they'd steamline a party game to work with new players. But oh boy. They streamlined the hell out of 8. Branching pathways too complicated? You walk in a straight line towards your destination. Is it hard to keep track of a moving star? Let's put it in one place forever. Too many spaces to think about? Let's just make five of them. Items are confusing? Let's make twelve items with two purposes. Are minigame rules hard to remember? Half of the revolve around pointing and clicking, and the other half revolve around shaking the wiimote like a jackass. Don't get me wrong. The streamlining of Mario Party got worse. Way worse. But 8 is the first Mario Party that stopped trusting players to have brains. Even Mario Party 6, which had the stupid orb mechanic expected players to play smart. I could win a game on the Pirate Goomba map with my eyes closed. Eight not only wasn't enjoyable, but it was a dark omen of things to come.
SirDiamondify your first 2 points only apply to Shy Guy's Perplex Express and Goomba's Booty Boardwalk (the 2 worst maps in the entire franchise) and yes there were only a few varieties of spaces (event space, DK/Bowser space, Blue space, red space, and shop) and there's a surprising amount that don't just fall into those 2 categories of controls (though there's also a good number of minigames that do). I think the only point that's 100% true and applies to the whole game you made is the lackluster items
I'm surprised Mario Party DS (a.k.a. the best one) wasn't even mentioned in this miniseries. Was their minigames even in the top 100? You know what? Super SkyBound The top 11 doesn't have any portable Mario Parties in it. Ironic, since it's on a portable console. DS is also my favourite but no one seems to care about it
tbh i loved Mario Party 8. It is really one of my favourite MP Games and i just always have a great time playing it with my friends.Too bad they messed it up in the next one...

I like mario party 8 because it was the last one with a number to have everybody in a seperate spot. Aka because it doesnt have the car mechanic that 9 and 10 have.

I love the microphone game personally. It’s so fun to play. My friends are so shocked when I win by screaming AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS! It’s pretty broken though. The only issue actually makes the game more fun because as I said, winning by screaming at your 3ds, instead of actually doing it right.
I remember playing Mario party 8 as a family once and my mom and sister did a duel in flip the chimp. They kept getting hit by coconuts so my mom gave the Wii remote to me to try out. After a few minutes, a timer appeared counting down. When the timer reached 0, the game ended in a draw. What fun......

TripleJump the game would've been better if you had a little more time to react to the falling coconut and the control wasn't overly sensitive. I found that game very difficult to ever win. I don't hate Mario party 8, but I think that was the worst minigame from MP8.
I remember this game, but ive never got the Impression, that its unfair. But i noticed, that in this Video, the rain missed the plant a lot. I dont know if that affects anything, its been a while. But if all Players Pound, when the plant is underneath the Cloud... Too bad i dont have the game anymore, but i´m sure, the Cloudplayers CAN win, even if the boardplayer doesnt screw up 5 times.

MapleshadeDarkRay_YT All that changing the difficulty for the cloudplayers does, seems to be the frequency of their jumps but not the accuracy. Essentially they are doing what Players do in the quiz and toadgame: spamming the button for a random Chance at success.
Yeah. Both came in 2007, but 8 came in mid May, while DS was early November. Have very fond memories of both! (Despite what the general opinion of 8 might say.)
I gotta agree with most of the list, with Rudder Madness, Flip The Chimp, and Crane Game being the most painful for me. Flip the Chimp always felt more like chance to me with the massive knockback from the coconuts, and Rudder Madness was way too focused on the first five seconds in the minigame. Basically, the first five seconds occur, people bounce into each other, and that sets up the winner as there is no way to accelerate in that minigame. It just becomes a slog for everyone because first place loses any competition (especially if they're bounced forward) unless they somehow perform the almost impossible feat of hitting an obstacle. In Mario Party 2, they really didn't need the extra time in Crane Game, and it's incredibly boring to just...sit there, and do nothing while your teammates get picked up. I've found that in the end, Crane Game just felt rigged in the one's favor.

@@GODOFAWSOMENESS1 Well usually me and my family agree not to go for each other, so we just go for the chest every time. But I've never missed it and I haven't seen my brother miss it before either. Maybe your game is different though. I know it sounds hard to believe, but I've noticed the AI and the behaviour of the game changes over the years. And it's not just me, my family have noticed it too. We've been playing the game for close to 20 years now, and even when a new one comes out, we always go back to Mario Party 1. Over time, some games get harder, or easier, or the computers start to act differently, (one example being handcar havoc sometimes being impossible, and other times being so easy that you can't fall even if you try), but the biggest change is that the game learns to favour certain players and actively turn against others, whether it's based on the number player you are or the character you select, we've all noticed. Maybe in your game, for whatever reason, it made crane game harder. But in our game, anybody could get the chest, even my mother who isn't very good at tapping the button fast.

tbh i loved Mario Party 8. It is really one of my favourite MP Games and i just always have a great time playing it with my friends.Too bad they messed it up in the next one...
Same.... though that may be just due to it being my first experience with the series. Plus it has my favourite cast for a Mario Party game...... seriously I love the enemy characters in this game, Dry Bones, Boo, Hammer Bro and Blooper.

I love the microphone game personally. It’s so fun to play. My friends are so shocked when I win by screaming AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS! It’s pretty broken though. The only issue actually makes the game more fun because as I said, winning by screaming at your 3ds, instead of actually doing it right.

I remember playing Mario party 8 as a family once and my mom and sister did a duel in flip the chimp. They kept getting hit by coconuts so my mom gave the Wii remote to me to try out. After a few minutes, a timer appeared counting down. When the timer reached 0, the game ended in a draw. What fun......

TripleJump the game would've been better if you had a little more time to react to the falling coconut and the control wasn't overly sensitive. I found that game very difficult to ever win. I don't hate Mario party 8, but I think that was the worst minigame from MP8.

I remember this game, but ive never got the Impression, that its unfair. But i noticed, that in this Video, the rain missed the plant a lot. I dont know if that affects anything, its been a while. But if all Players Pound, when the plant is underneath the Cloud... Too bad i dont have the game anymore, but i´m sure, the Cloudplayers CAN win, even if the boardplayer doesnt screw up 5 times.

MapleshadeDarkRay_YT All that changing the difficulty for the cloudplayers does, seems to be the frequency of their jumps but not the accuracy. Essentially they are doing what Players do in the quiz and toadgame: spamming the button for a random Chance at success.

I gotta agree with most of the list, with Rudder Madness, Flip The Chimp, and Crane Game being the most painful for me. Flip the Chimp always felt more like chance to me with the massive knockback from the coconuts, and Rudder Madness was way too focused on the first five seconds in the minigame. Basically, the first five seconds occur, people bounce into each other, and that sets up the winner as there is no way to accelerate in that minigame. It just becomes a slog for everyone because first place loses any competition (especially if they're bounced forward) unless they somehow perform the almost impossible feat of hitting an obstacle. In Mario Party 2, they really didn't need the extra time in Crane Game, and it's incredibly boring to just...sit there, and do nothing while your teammates get picked up. I've found that in the end, Crane Game just felt rigged in the one's favor.

@@GODOFAWSOMENESS1 Well usually me and my family agree not to go for each other, so we just go for the chest every time. But I've never missed it and I haven't seen my brother miss it before either. Maybe your game is different though. I know it sounds hard to believe, but I've noticed the AI and the behaviour of the game changes over the years. And it's not just me, my family have noticed it too. We've been playing the game for close to 20 years now, and even when a new one comes out, we always go back to Mario Party 1. Over time, some games get harder, or easier, or the computers start to act differently, (one example being handcar havoc sometimes being impossible, and other times being so easy that you can't fall even if you try), but the biggest change is that the game learns to favour certain players and actively turn against others, whether it's based on the number player you are or the character you select, we've all noticed. Maybe in your game, for whatever reason, it made crane game harder. But in our game, anybody could get the chest, even my mother who isn't very good at tapping the button fast.
