    I use those silicon cups a lot. What I do is I mix in a larger disposable cup/container. Then pour it out into the silicon cups and add pigment there. A quick mix of the pigment and then pour onto my project. The cup used to mix is disposed. The epoxy in the silicon cups is all properly mixed so won’t stay sticky and will come off easier. Yes, I still have one disposable container that I throw, but it’s a compromise. The silicon cups are also easier/more accurate to pour with if I need to do more delicate/targeted stuff.

    "Buyer beware" is a good motto to go by wherever you buy from. A lot of people look down on things made in China, but there are so many items that are great quality. The reason your corner chisel isn't cutting is due to a dull blade. You'd get the same crushing result if you used a dull chisel. - Chris

      @BitnerBuilt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep agree! On the corner chisel examining it it seems sharp enough to cut my finger but you could be right, I’m just surprised that I didn’t get any cutting on any side of it even the side that’s going along with the grain, it should’ve at least split the green right there, but it just smashed it down

    I've bought a few things from Temu so far. The first items they shipped busted through the bag and were tapped to high heaven to keep everything inside. Nothing was damaged or missing. The next few items I bought came in a bag but inside the bag, they were stored in boxes with plenty of foam to ensure sensitive stuff wasn't damaged. So maybe Temu is improving its shipping standards. All the stuff I got so far seems of good quality and not cheap metal or plastic I normally joke about with cheap Chinese stuff.

    That 90 degree punch might work well actually. I would like to see you try making some incisions laterally (parallel to the wood face and perpendicular to the punch) in to the corner first. Then make a light punch and maybe repeat the process a couple times........but in hindsight it would probably just be easier to hand chisel the whole corner.

    @BitnerBuilt thanks for the demo...clearly the first ruler was pathetic...BUT can you use it as a template to make it from better quality materials (once you straightened it...bahaha)?
    I have ordered from wish and temu...you certainly need to read the small print. Most of what I got from wish was great (not the packaging)...although I'm not impressed I'm considered xxl for clothes...lol...
    Temu...quicker with shipping and stuff does come in a bag but for the most part it was a box in a bag. I've gotten diamond bit sharpening plates...good size, flat but the grit is well...much more course than advertised. That being said the diamond bit rotary tool bits were much better. Haven't had a chance yet to try the dB hole saws (let's just say they made me raise an eyebrow...we'll see). The forstner bits and ummm I think they are called mortise bits (having a brain freeze on the term...sigh) the ones that make mortise look good and sharp enough to cut skin...I'm a clutz...they look like quality and both came in individual plastic holders inside a cardboard box inside a bag. I also bought 60 grit hook/loop triangle shaped sandpaper for my oscillator...I was originally disappointed they were smaller than expected but then I realised it's beneficial since they will fit in smaller area. I was surprised that they came with their own paddle...I work primarily with reclaimed pallet wood so I need the really course grit...I'm impressed with the quality of the sandpaper...not falling apart quickly.

      It’s really a mixed bag and as you said reading the fine print (if there is any) there are a lot of these manufacturers now moving off those (or staying) but moving their products onto Amazon. Going to be doing a video on that as well soon. As some people don’t like the idea of giving their $$ info to Ali wish Temu etc. those items are a few $ more but the ease of return and quick delivery of Amazon (also evil company but lesser of two evils I guess 😜)

    I bought some carbide turning tools on Temu that came in a nice case and was boxed but still in the orange bag and they seem to be working fine too. I will never buy Woodpeckers ever again after spending thousands and waiting four months for an order.

    If you use pumps for your epoxy, you don't need to measure anything. Both total boat and west system sell pumps for their epoxy, and I expect others do to. Much easier to count pumps than measure by volume or using a scale.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt  ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually use pumps as well on some of my epoxy’s, personally I think they are more for if your trying to to make as much garbage being able to reuse them. With them being flexible I wouldn’t trust the measuring gauge on the side

      @BitnerBuilt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine didn’t come in a box so either they now are sending it in a box (they should or else they will all be bent) or it’s from a different seller, if you use these services frequently you will see they sell from several different sellers frequently

    Amazon can be just as bad with packaging. I ordered a Diablo circular saw blade that arrived as just the *naked* blade in a classic blue-and-white Amazon plastic bubble envelope. And they bent the blade of my Suizan ryoba pull saw *over* 90° to fit it in a box that was way too short. I am not kidding.

      @@Ekrindul Sorry to worry you! As a testament to the quality of the saw, mine was no worse for wear. I was shocked and relieved when i pulled it out of the box snd it sprang back to straight and true without even needing to flex it back the other way! If I thought for a moment that they knew that would happen, I'd actually be impressed with their ingenuity, but what are the chances? Major kudos to Suizan though...it still cuts great despite it all.

    I would say as a time served cabinet maker in the UK (55 years) that the red aluminium crap you see on tool walls of many youtubers is unecessary junk. If you dont believe me and before you start sending me murderous thoughts, go and find a proper cabinet maker and respectfully ask if you could just take a look at their operation, I will bet big money there will be no red tool wall.
    Woodpeckers tools are not even very accurate compare their stated accuracy with a cheap machinists square and you will get the idea, here in the UK I can buy a set of four for £25. And you host points out their biggest flaw they are made of aluminium because it's cheap but it is not very durable. Heaven forbid you wanted to use a marking knife to do some layout.
    I will give you a simple example, the Paolini pocket thingy everybody raves about it having a little notch in it for your pencil, wow thats ground breaking. Or you could just take a small triangular file and with three quick strokes in the centrecof the shaft you have just improved any combination square you probably already own and given it the same functionality.
    Companies like Woodpeckers are just praying on a perceived need to have a gizmo for every task and that need is fueled by countless people online. I made a very good living making fine furniture and if you saw the extent of my measuring and marking tools you would be amazed and I will tell you now things may have been replaced but the kit remained the same for 55years.
    I'm retired now and I like to watch a few videos from time to time and it makes me very grumpy when I see barriers put in peoples way of getting started in woodworking, you do not need this stuff the pros dont use them just get in your shop and make something. But if you really want to waste your money visit Hooked on Wood channel he has loads of reviews of Chinese tools from Bangood.

    If you're interested in really banging "china tools" not being just cheap knockoffs reviewed from someone with very high demands to quality and aesthetics check out Denis from "Hooked on wood" here on YT. Start with the China Tools series and then the rest of the channel. will follow autimatically. But be warned, it's tickling pandoras box with a chisel as there are gems out there eating up some money in the end as well... And i started with the even smaller T-60 😜
