*OG only? Remake only? Or both?* -BoomstickAlex
_(I accidentally called the Dark Claw a "Deathclaw". *Shakes fist at Fallout!)_
OG, remake, and everything in between.
OG + Remake (and Crisis Core, but who's counting?)
I think Deathclaw is acceptable. Iirc there's at least one of these in FF14 called such
Both, though with the remakes being a way to get new content out of a game I've already beaten like 7+ times, they will be getting most of my ff7 attention for quite some time.
Also there is a "Death Claw" enemy in FF7 Rebirth and Dark Claw is basically just a Death Claw reskin that can use Falcon Punch.
Both! Good video!
Extra tips:
- The three hit ranged attack synergy skill Cloud gets with Red and Barret has a secret fourth and slightly more powerful shot if you press the stance button (triangle) at the end of the three hit synergy skill combo, plus it lets you quickly activate punisher mode.
- You can swap characters in combat by pressing up or down on the dpad, everyone knows that, but if you press up or down on the dpad WHILE holding the block button R1, the character you control will teleport (I think the game calls it Tag Team attack) to the enemy and immediately start hitting him, so you can go crazy chaining attacks. Really useful.
- You can manually trigger Cait Sith’s Moogle Kaboom ability (the one that makes his moogle swallow a bomb and explode when the moogle HP is depleted) by using the dodge dive ability, which destroys the moogle. No more waiting for enemies to destroy it, Cait Sith becomes an AOE damage beast with this!
- Some of you might not have noticed this, there are different attack animations depending on when you press the stance button with Cloud to activate Punisher mode. You can counter AND perfect counter by simply pressing triangle the moment the enemy attacks, instead of R1. You can do a Helm Splitter to quickly drop flying enemies or go back to the ground with a heavy attack if you press triangle mid air during an air combo. You can quickly move behind the enemy and avoid a front hit with a fast slash by pressing triangle during the repeating slashes of the punisher mode combo. Super useful too.
- Yuffie’s Foxflame synergy skill changes elements according to her current ninjutsu element, really useful to pressure enemies weak to an elemental type and break enemy parts.
✌️✌️✌️✌️
I need to try that r1 teleport trick and cloud combos asap!
@@vr6volkspower The tag team attack is awesome to keep the pressure on an enemy, I like to launch enemies with the first hit of the punisher mode combo as Cloud, then quickly tag team with Tifa or Yuffie, because they come out already attacking the enemy mid air if you do it against a launched opponent
These were great man. Appreciate it. That Tag Team attack is a game changer
On number 1, after pressing triangle, you can input the synergy ability command again to perform another stronger attack, which you can then follow up with another triangle and repeat the cycle from the starting 3 attacks.
@@JotaKingtero I love it it makes the combat even faster and more intense when you're keeping the pressure with the tag team
Bro. Wtf. This is actually the most useful "things you didn't know" game video I've ever seen on youtube, period.
Exactly, I saw a video right after this from PhillyBeatsGamez that was complete garbage, telling players junk like "Be sure to open this chest," or "Do this quest to unlock the chocobo," and other inane stuff from Capitan Obvious.
By contrast, this video from Boomstick Alex was actually good.
Fr Idk what it is with this game but it has so many shovel videos that have no profound input like this one does
For real, pleasantly understated. 🤘
@@ElPsyKongroo yep . 100 things to do first in FF7 rebirth. #1-80...go to town and do an obvious quest
I concur, super useful.
The deeper you get into this game the more crazy it is. Such an amazing evolution of an old classic. As an og fan. I am happy
If you were an og fan, you would be disgusted by what they did to FF7.
@@senorpoodles1755 and what did they do exactly? 🤔
Nothing that ninja can name. @@Ock_mantisni gga just hating.
@senorpoodles1755 if you wanted the original then just play the original. Moron
@@senorpoodles1755as an OG FF7 fan playing the OG game at least once a year since 1999 I love this game and Remake. Game is amazing plain and simple
I watched my dad play the Original FF7 on the PS1 when it came out; without a guide or assistance. I played it a few years later when I bit got older, and I had strategy guide to help me. The fact my dad figured out as much as he did back in his mid 30s playing after work and on weekends; will never not impress me.
Now years later I'm in my mid 30s playing the remakes with him watching. It's a lot of fun.
I enjoyed the original. It's my 5th favorite Final Fantasy, and I'm really enjoying the remake series too.
Which are your first four preferred FF games?
A good hidden mechanic is with Tifa and the auto unique ability materia. It is said in the materia description that she will use unbrittle strength, but what it doesn't say is that she will automatically spend her triangle attacks right after staggering an enemy to increase the damage multiplier
Really?? Did not know that
Of course she will. Because that's what her Unique ability is for. She won't use those attacks unless the enemy is staggered. This is common sense.
@@Akihito_Kanbaravideo game AI does not always follow common sense though. It’s good to know this is how it functions for Tifa.
does it only do omnistrike or will it upgrade it to rise and fall?
@@J78Kio she will upgrade if she has atb for it, but if she doesn't and a enemy is stagger, she will spend her triangle attacks right away
I got 67 hrs of game time and still I've learned alot from your video. Thanks alot. Thumbs up :)
Same im at like 64. i guess its better to know now and perfect it for the hard playthrough tho
Bought a ps5 to play this. I went through crisis core, got the Ff7 remake platinum, watched Advent children complete in anticipation. Game is amazing. Was not ready for the opening.
There's literally nothing worse than these disgusting remakes. Play Ghost of Tsushima instead. It's the best PS5 game.
I'd recommend still playing the original FF7 at one point. I played it for the first time in 2021 and it became my favorite game ever
@@billygilmusic5072 The original FF7 with 7th Heaven mods is 1000 times better than the remake series.
I paused playing Rebirth very early on to play through Crisis Core Reunion and watch Advent Children. Very glad I did.
OG 7 player here. I obsessed with 7 as a teen and beat it multiple times and owned several strategy guide books. I went back and beat Remake for a 2nd time and Intergrade for the first. I just finished that yesterday (2/28) and I am so excited for this!
Og7 player here too, and lucky you. You can get the Ramuh materia if you have the Yuffie DLC save file on your system.
I'm kinda curious if there's a debug menu in these new FF7 games there was so many crazy things you could do in ff7 original
Same boat here. Having this beautiful recreation, especially 3 games of it is like a dream come true.
🤓🤓🤓
OG and Remake, both great in their own ways. Loving Rebirth now.
Remake is better in every ways possible
@@Avocado_Rulernice bait
I liked Remake but Rebirth is everything I wanted Remake to be
this is hands down the best video of the format for any video game i’ve ever seen. well done. you earned a new subscriber
The L2 and R2 for shortcuts is amazing! I was wondering why I still had to go through so many menus sometimes
always so quick and detailed, thanks Alex
Great job on this, bunch of tips I hadn’t heard anywhere else. Thanks
OG
Oh maaan, you got the best tips ive seen in the past few days! Thanks a lot!
So many handy tips in this. Thanks Boomstick.
My daughter’s name is Aeris…. That should tell you which I played first 😂
Wife had an our second baby in Sept. She wouldn’t let me give her first name but I got her middle name, Aerith.
i'm in the grasslands still getting familiar with the battle system. super happy and love the game already!
The expand command shortcut is a game changer, I felt the other option where L2 and R2 was useless if I wanted to pause I’ll press X then L2 or R2 to choose the character
Yeah, this should have been default. It has much better flow imo
Nice tips! Definitely applying when next I play.
Awesome tips. Thanks man!
OG, thanks for the tips!
"Overkill! Eat it Neil..." Subscribed so fast afterwards 🤣
Ngl, I lost it at 2:59. Great video-great tips o7 and all of the above. I love the world and characters. So jazzed!
Great tips I wasnt aware of. Thanks!
OG fan here! Fancy seeing another Boomstick around! You showed up on my recommended when I've been trying to keep myself from getting spoiled from Rebirth~ Great tips!
Awesome tips. OG player x7 and loved beating the game each time.
thank you for this video, sincerely so helpful. i really appreciate it
I had no idea about the mini map thing very helpful!
These are actually awesome tips, wish I knew about most of these at the start, just hit chapter 13 😂 Good work mate!
Die hard FF7 fan and played the OG as a literal child and replayed it later as a young adult right before Remake so it’s safe to say I love FF7 and I’m not even a huge Final Fantasy fan in general I’ve only played 10 and Kingdom Hearts games is where I really got introduced to the cast of FF7. I absolutely love your vid even tho I’ve played through the game and have like 120 hours I learned something new from this! You make really informative vids that are really well made! Bravo! I’m definitely subscribing!
The goat with the quick tip video
I'm definitely going to use that camera setting. Also, the mechanic with the dice is so clever, I would have never thought of it.
Dude. This is actual useful information. I didn't know a lot of this stuff! Thanks for this! (OG FF7 here!)
Both - awesome video, great tips. The team mate dodge sounds like it would take some practice to pull off consistently but would really benefit, especially on hard mode
What’s crazy is I’ve been watching FF7RB videos for the last week & I just ran into this video. Definitely the most useful I’ve seen so far
OG. Also, thank you so much for this list! I'm configuring my menu settings for the battle camera especially.
Genuinely ridiculously useful video. Got the game yesterday, gotta go work for 8 hours and then i can squeeze in another gaming session. With GENUINELY VERY USEFUL TIPS. Wtf im shocked.
Excellent tips
Just got out off the first open zone with everything done (rn entered chapter 3) and love everything so far! Going for the platinum as well
I just got to the second area after the swamplands. Did everything there was possible to do in the grasslands. All of these incredibly useful tips would have been great during my first 16 or so hours. 😂 amazing video with amazing tips. Thank you!
OG that played remake. Cant wait to play this game.
This is the most helpful Rebirth tips video on TH-cam!
At last an actually helpful video and not just things that the game tels you... Nice work man .
OG I played this for hours yesterday and I love it. Thanks for the video
Best Tipps that i See! Thx
Top tier video- so helpful thanks!
Great tips! Especially the dodge, shortcuts and battlecam will come in handy. Also I've completely missed the potential of Grandhorn in QB, so frustrating when the AI blocks your route when you're about to unveil your masterplan! Time to put Grandhorn in my strategy
I'm 42, so OG practically every FF game haha
I’ve played the OG one countless times. So to see it fleshed out more how it is now is amazing!
BOTH and thank you square enix owes you for making sense of their defunct tutorials subscribed
OG here loving these, I fully platinum FF7 remake I preparation for this... loving it!!!
OG for sure, but loving the new stuff! Thanks for the tips!
I was playing this over the weekend and was like I need some Boomstick tips on this game. Sure enough video. Thanks
I've played both. In chapter 9 of rebirth. Thanks for the vid super helpful!
Man this is good! I knew the combat was deep but didn't know there was this much flexibility.
Thanks man! I have terrible drift and the lock on tip is game changer for me! Now I don't have to use the damn sticks to switch targets😂
‘97 OG on PS- obsessed. Rebirth- convoluted. Queen’s Blood keeps me going though.
Thanks for all the info!
OG! The synergy addition is CRAZY. 🎉
BOTH. Just got my hands on FF7: Rebirth and I'm having a blast. This video was super helpful. Keep it up dude!
These are great! thanks you
Most of the options things listed I never knew as I never go in there. Other's are nice to know so video was overall very helpful.
As for liking the game, I am loving it. It brings back Nostalgic moments while introducing new ones. Also everytime I see Tifa on the screen it's like seeing a Celebrity I really like lol.
OG! I’m chapter 9 and having a great time. That alt character dodge mechanic blew my mind.
It just occurred to me that u can place an arcane ward at a safe distance,
Aerith can teleport there and call team members to double cast
Amazing need to know info!
OG here. I was 12 years old. Formative in my development.
OMG this helped so much. Thank you/
Thanks for the useful tips! I’m a Remake only guy. I’ve always known about the popular ff7 characters and the amazing soundtrack, but I’ve never played the original. Maybe I’ll play it after rebirth:)
Both. Thanks for the tips!
Og player here who got really into the game right around the time advent children came out, then crisis core, that was my adolescence and that world and story means so much to me!
Playing Remake and Rebirth (literally have been following this since the 2005 ps3 tech demo) has been the most gratifying emotional gaming experience. Seeing places I’ve only ever imagined in hyper triple A graphics! Recognizing the characters dialogue spoken out loud rather than me and my friends individually voicing out the text! I cry!
That holding L1 to multi-cast cure/give potions is brilliant, thank you!
Is there a way to find out which monsters you've assessed? Ive got a Chadley thing blocked cos Ive only done 24/25...
Cheers!
I played the OG and finished it more than 60 times in 27 years. So glad they finally did a remake! Thanks for the video!
So many things i learned. I am humbled to suscribe to your channel.
OG🎉😊 this was a wonderfully helpful video 🙏🏻 loving the game so much
OG here. BTW super helpful video. Doing everything I can to avoid comments though and all because I want to experience the surprises here on my own. Just in the beginning when you get to control you-know-who, I lost it.
OG OG OG. Such great tips thanks!!!
Ive beaten the games story and wow there was a lot i didnt consider. The fov, the L2/R2 for teamate quick actions. Huge difference
Love both the OG and the Remake project
Both - this was some great info. I am on Chapter 8 now - currently going after the protorelic in Corel. Cactaurs are as annoying as they have ever been! My tips: 1) Equip the "Auto Wepon Ability" Materia on everyone so whoever is not being controlled pops off an ability; 2) Barett's Iron Shield (default: R1+X or R1+O) is extremely useful for damage reduction and he gets lots of ATB using it.
OG here. Thanks for the tips. These were great!
I didn't figure out the Grandhorn trick until the last Queensblood match of the game. There are a few of those replacement-style cards that are an absolute must to win the final match. You basically have to block the final opponent from making any more moves as early as possible, since each move they make powers up the mean queen card.
Cool stuff. Will definitely update some settings once i get to play again. The battles seem a bit too convoluted so far especially compared to remake. There's just so much to do. Not entirely a bad thing though, the game's definitely lots enjoyable
This is the best tips and tricks video for this game on TH-cam. Thank you. OG here I guess.
102 hours in and you still told me stuff I didn’t know, very well done.
I was wondering why I barely ever got synergy! Thank you.
OG, 7 was actually my first ever RPG back when I was a kid. I’m glad that I haven’t missed any of these mechanics, though I definitely need to use the synergy skills more now that I’m in Ch. 11 of hard mode. Either way I’ve gotta wait for that G-Bike patch so I can continue the hunt for platinum. Not looking forward to the final boss on hard lol
Is there any way to have loadouts for Materia? Original had quick swap ...
I got a pro controller and love the button mapping, so I can customise it in a more convenient configuration, example is that I swapped l1 and r1 to the back panel button, which frees up my fingers for r2 and l2.
Man, I'm very happy with what I'm seeing. They did a Yakuza 8 on this one. I'd love to play it as soon as SE cooks more patches to optimize the game.
YOOOO THESE ARE CRAZYYY LMAO
100 hours in and still so much to learn! :D
Dang. Very helpful
Thanks!
Great video
Great set of non spoiler tips compared to some OTHER videos .
I still need help swapping teams out of combat. Hold L2 and press L1-R1?
OG over here. I was 16 in 1997 when i first play FF7. Its been my favorite game since. I still play it once a year.
Both. Definitely enjoying the nostalgia n interested to see if u can grind enough ti beat the giant snake as u could first time by it as u could in the og version
I only ever got to the temple of the ancients in the the original (I think that’s the name of the place that Aerith… you know). So I’m pleasantly surprised at just how accurate remake and rebirth have been and I’m enjoying all the new little additions to expand the story.
My favourite new addition are the black robes. They give an actual reasonable explanation to why the party goes to certain locations, rather than just stumbling into the next plot point coincidentally
I'm remake and loved the first! awesome.
Super useful!
