First, boiling temperatures at the elevation of Yellowstone is 199 F (92 C). The accident described here is not actually very common. While is is a dumb (and extremely painful) way to die.
I was working in the park the year a tourist stopped off with his dog. Failing to place his dog on a leash the dog, who loved the water, ran out and before anyone could stop him jumped into the water.
Witnesses said the sounds the dog made were the most horrifying sounds most of them ever heard. It proved too much for the owner who pulled his shirt off and before anyone could stop him he to jumped into the water. 199 F is hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns to human and canine skin instantly. As both dog and owner were completely submerged both suffered 3rd degree burns over 100% of their body. There is simply no way to survive such terrible burns.
The worst part is, the water is not hot enough to destroy the pain receptors in your skin as a fire will do. So this means every pain receptor in the mans skin did nothing but send massive levels of pain to his brain for the rest of his life. It was a very long three days.

      Precisely!
This is where modern day meatheads, ego maniacs and Neanderthals get confused.
“Survival of the fittest” and “Strongest survive” are misleading quotes and are NOT scientific fact or theory of our evolution.
In FACT the fittest and strongest do not always survive but idiots take it literally and do all kinds of bizarre and extreme activities to try and chase this and put themselves physically in the fantasy of this reality they have created.
The actual scientific theory and fact is that the most “adaptable” species are the ones that survive and prosper.
Sometimes it is through fortune and chance but regarding humans (homosapiens) it has been through intelligence.
Case in point, Neanderthals were actually much bigger than humans, far far stronger, had much bigger brains and were ferocious HOWEVER human beings developed their intelligence and were able to problem solve and creatively adapt their ways of hunting and gathering to ensure that they would get their prey and thus food source whereas Neanderthals were far far more explosive but tired very quickly and lacked the intelligence to adapt and it is believed that they lost access to food sources because of this and developed poorer health and disease which led to their extinction.
The question now is can human beings adapt to not wiping out the entire planet and ourselves through a combination of intelligence and our beastly instincts.

Years ago, I watched the Darwin Awards that showed a photo, in gruesome color if I’m remembering right, of a man who fell or jumped from a very high window; the photo of his body showed how, landing on his back, one of his leg was ripped from his body and had skidded away from his body. It’s the kind of picture you can’t forget.

Two guys are drinking on a roof of a sky scraper...
And the first guy looks to the other and says, "Did you know the owners of the building got so tired of people committing suicide that they installed a vacuum on the 20th floor to pull people in that jump?"
The second guys says, "you're full of crap"
So the first guy finishes his beer, walks over to the edge and jumps off.
The second man is shocked and runs over to the edge just in time to see the first get pulled into the building.
A few minutes later he is back on the roof and says, "I told you"
"I gotta try this" says the second guy, so he downs the rest of his beer, walks up to the edge, jumps off, and falls to his death.

Or as a number of so called republicans voters did not long ago “Government! Hands off my Medicare!” Or one who worked for the government and was a member of a public employee union appalled that the new governor of his state wanted to gut this guy’s union.
