And he went absolutely microscopic in pinpointing the exact causes of how a civilization like America has appeared (that of the weakness of the Anglo-Saxon stocks in justifying a Protestant existence detached from contemplative asceticism and heroic Olympian action) in his other books. In the chapter of Bow and Club which is posted here, his aim was to show the dystopia of the worthless summation of the soulless American existence, not a "why" which has already been stated elsewhere.
