For example, I know you said the goal is to defend in a compact manner so if the ball is progressed down the left side of the field, does the left winger track back defensively? Or perhaps does one of the wingers tuck to the inside of the field? Any insight on this would be much appreciated as it is my biggest question regarding this formation.
Klopp prefers usually to have the wingers higher than the other teams in defense. Because he wants the counterattack due to their speed. It depends on the tactics of each coach...
