  • Our Head of Talent, Anthony Allen Ramos chats with Grammy-winning recording artist, St. Vincent about her film "The Nowhere Inn" which she made with her real-life pal, Carrie Brownstein. The film is a metafictional account of two creative forces banding together to make a documentary about St. Vincent’s music, touring life, and on-stage persona. But they quickly discover unpredictable forces lurking within the subject and filmmaker that threaten to derail the friendship, the project, and the duo’s creative lives. "The Nowhere Inn" from IFC Films is in theatres on September 17 and will also be available on digital on demand. You can also catch St. Vincent on the road for her "Daddy's Home" tour.

    I agree.....she IS so perfect, isn't she?
Talk about a "johnny-come-lately"....I only just discovered Annie less than 2 years ago and (since then) I've consumed everything that's online (videos, interviews, etc) pertaining to her. Cannot WAIT to see her LIVE for the first time in another couple of weeks (at Austin City Limits)!
    Can.
    Not.
    Wait.
I know she'll be awesome (read a review on her current Daddy's Home tour per the Pittsburg Gazette....the writer was completely blown away by the show; said it was a total spectacle that should not be missed.)

I hope you enjoyed the ACL concert back then. I remember "discovering" Annie back in 2012 during her interview alongside David Byrne on the old Colbert Report... let's just say we'll never relive the glory years of 2013 through 2015, regarding St. Vincent's multitude of interviews and more unpredictable concert behavior (climbing on things, pounding her guitar, headbutting the kick drum, crowd surfing, debuting her Ernie Ball guitar at a Taylor Swift show with Beck, etc.)!

"The Nowhere Inn" is an underrated song. I would have liked "The Nowhere Inn" the movie a little more (when I watched it on Amazon back in '21), had Annie not already done so much exquisite absurdist humor with Carrie (and Fred, etc.) on Portlandia since 2012!

I watched this with my friend when we were "afterglowing" on a shroom trip. She asked me at the end, "I don't get it? Why did it end the same way it began?" I think the point was that no matter what kind of masquerades Annie used to heighten her persona, and no matter how hard she tried to gaslight Carrie, she ended up as she started: Alone and lost. It was all just done in spite and no personal gain was acquired.
