@Don Ron Very good, you know how to generalise an entire country... congratulations. However, I can think of at least 20 other countries whose citizenry are far more ignorant than what you say Americans are.
BTW, the roman catholic person who asked me that amazing question was a foreigner herself, not from our country but an immigrant.

Do the Orthodox *routinely* bow heads/make the sign of the cross before the icons, kiss them and swing the censer near them at your local parish? I'm not an ignorant Protestant so don't worry I won't strike you down. But I'm wondering what practices the Orthodox would consider idolatrous worship of an icon, rather than everyday veneration?

Saint Theodora the empress (d. 867 AD), pray for us! She was the spouse of Byzantine emperor Theophilos; an Orthodox saint who restored veneration of icons; had firm diplomatic insistence upon reconciliation with those who held opposing views, thus sustaining the unity of the Church. Feast Day: February 11.

Understand that what we like or dislike is not what important. It what Jesus command is the only thing that is important

    • @maxxyboy1000
      @maxxyboy1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@dot suk the full command reads "“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God..." Ex 20:4-5a
The command is definitely about worship, just specifically about statues in this case. But yes, you're right in that they are talking about a similar thing - so that's why Catholics group them together :)

I used to be a protestant and this always confused me. My parents used to spew the rhetoric that Catholics worship saints as gods. This helped a lot, as a person who is trying to figure out what I believe I try to be as understanding as possible of all belief systems.

    • @TIJoe-te9qu
      @TIJoe-te9qu ปีที่แล้ว +15

Romanism essentially does worship dead saints as gods. Prayer to any human, dead or alive, is a form of worship, as only the Lord can receive prayers. Not even angels can do that. See Revelation, where John bows to a holy angel, but us told to worship God alone.

@@watcherwlc53 Yes, but papists believe in immortal soul, so their saints immediately go to heaven. Problem is, many evangelicals believe this too, and some claim to have contact with their deceased families. They forget when Saul tried to contact Samuel.

    • @TIJoe-te9qu
      @TIJoe-te9qu ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@kirikoucortex7042 No, I did listen, and I had early exposure to Romanism, so I do have a place of reference. No matter what semantics are used, the truth is that Romanist theology requires worship of humans, dead and alive. This is because prayers are only to be made to the Godhead, not to angels, dead humans, or ones thought to be alive in heaven, including Mother Mary, who is likely asleep awaiting resurrection like most saints.
To address prayers to humans is to ascribe godlike status to them, which is worship, especially if the belief that they're even conscious is based upon folklore and tradition, not the Bible.
See, even if you're praying WITH them, you don't know if they're even conscious, unless its someone like Enoch or Elijah who was translated directly to eternity. Most others experience the unconscious sleep that David and Solomon described, "resting with their fathers" until the resurrection day.
Regardless, consider the rosary (which is an adaptation of pagan beads). All those Hail Marys, 10 to each prayer to the Father, are direct prayers TO Mary, as the "queen of heaven" (another pagan adaptation from Semiramis, the pagan queen of heaven, that idolaters in the Bible baked cakes for), and as an " intercessor." No place in the Bible is Mary prayed to. And the other saints are prayed TO also for special purposes, though most of them are asleep. Do you know that saints are ALL Christians, not just some special heroes canonized by a mortal pope who cannot determine "sainthood?" The Catholic saints are heroes and focal points, AGAIN, to fill in for the pagan saints and gods that Catholicism included to make Catholicism also appeal to as many pagan converts as possible. ALL THE Catholic add-ons to the Bible were designed by Constantine to unify the Roman church-state by having something familiar to attract pagans with. Hence the sun symbols, purgatory, queen of heaven, indulgences, patron saints, IHS, Christ mass timed with the winter solstice, Easter timed with Ishtar the fertility festival, Lent timed with the 40 days of weeping for Tammuz (see Ezekiel), and SO many other things.
Lastly, the POPE is worshipped too. Catholicism denies that, but even US presidents are required to call the pope HIS HOLINESS! His sweaty feet are kissed and people kneel before his white throne. He is called VICARIUS CHRISTI, the replacement Christ on earth! Many older Catholic quotes say that the pope is not a mere man, but as it were, another God on earth, holding upon the earth the place of God Almighty. You can look this up easily or ask a priest.
I say all this not to bash, but to simply expose the truth of Romanism and where its extra-biblical content originates. If these beliefs and activities of praying to, or even "with," papal saints are not biblical, they're no better than praying to or with Santa Claus, so why bother fooling ourselves with man-made traditions?
Why not just pray to God, the only one the Bible says to pray to?

We Catholics DO Worship God alone and you protestants skip over vast amounts of scriptures for the purpose of bearing false witness. ➨CARVED IMAGES IN THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD, INTERCESSION OF MARY AND THE SAINTS, HONOURING MARY, AND BOWING AS A SIGN OF HONOUR AND RESPECT
(All copied from the protestant version of the bible by me)
Sacred Images are Biblical & mocking & destroying them is a serious sin, an act of blasphemy:
➨ SACRED IMAGES: Sacred images are not idols and it is an act of blasphemy to attack them:
      ● EXODUS 25:18-22 God commands Moses to make STATUES of Angels.

      ● NUMBERS 21:8-9 God commands another image to be made, a serpent.
      ● EZEKIEL 41:18-25 KJV
(EZEKIEL's VISION OF THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD ADORNED WITH CARVED IMAGES:)...
      18 And it was made with CHERUBIMS (ANGELS) and PALM TREES, so that a palm tree was between a CHERUB and EVERY CHERUB HAD TWO FACES;
19 So that the FACE OF A MAN was toward the PALM TREE on the one side, and the FACE OF A LION toward the PALM TREE on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.
20 From the ground unto above the door were CHERUBIMS (ANGELS) and PALM TREES made, and on the wall of the temple.
21 The posts of the temple were squared, and the face of the sanctuary; the appearance of the one as the appearance of the other.
22 The altar of wood was three cubits high, and the length thereof two cubits; and the corners thereof, and the length thereof, and the walls thereof, were of wood: and he said unto me, This is the table that is before the Lord.
23 And the temple and the sanctuary had two doors.
24 And the doors had two LEAVES apiece, two turning leaves; two leaves for the one door, and two leaves for the other door.
25 And there were made on them, on the doors of the temple, CHERUBIMS and PALM TREES, like as were made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the porch without.
➨ BOWING as a sign of honour / respect:
●1 KINGS 2:19 Solomon bows to his Mother. (he HONOURS Her)
      ● JOSHUA 7:6: 6 Joshua & the elders of Israel tore their clothing and lay prostrate (face down on the ground) before the Ark of the Lord. (an OBJECT)
      ➨ HONOURING MARY:
      ● LUKE 1:48 All generations will call Mary blessed.
➨ INTERCESSION OF MARY & THE SAINTS IN THE BIBLE: ...
Including proof that saints are not among the dead
The Protestant claim that we are forbidden to speak to / pray to Mary and the saints is NOWHERE in the Bible. In fact, the following scriptures were copied (by me) directly from the Protestant version of the Bible: ...
➨INTERCESSION of a holy person on our behalf:
      ● JOB 42:8 8 Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams, and GO TO MY SERVANT JOB, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and MY SERVANT Job SHALL PRAY FOR YOU, FOR I WILL ACCEPT HIS PRAYER NOT TO DEAL WITH YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR FOLLY; for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.
➨INTERCESSION of MARY: JOHN 1 At the wedding feast at Cana, it was Mary who asked Jesus to help the wedding party.
➨INTERCESSION OF THE SAINTS: REV 5:8 The prayers of the Saints are offered to Jesus the lamb.
➨The KING Honours his mother's request:
      ● 1 KINGS 2:20: Then she said, “I have one small request to make of you; do not refuse me.” And the king said to her, “Make your request, my mother, for I will not refuse you.”

➨ JOHN 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
➨ PAUL RAISES A MAN FROM THE DEAD:
      ACTS 20:7-12
9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.20:
➨SAINTS ARE NOT AMONG THE DEAD: AND THEIR INTERCESSION IS BIBLICAL: They share in the ressurrection of Jesus: (Protestants attack Biblical saints while they follow dead reformers)
      ● MATTHEW 27: 52 -53: When Jesus was raised from the dead Many were raised up with him. 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
      ● LUKE 23 v 39-43...Jesus told the good thief "today you will be with me in paradise"
      ● REV 19 v 14...when Jesus returns he will be accompanied by his heavenly armies of saints.
      ● 2 COR 5 v 8...Paul tells us that to be absent with the body is to be with the Lord.
      ● JOHN 11 v 25-26...Jesus said I am the ressurrection and the life, he who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives, believing in me will never die.
      ● LUKE 1619-30 The story of the rich man and Lazarus show The Rich man, Lazarus and Abraham, all concious and interacting with each other even though they have physically died.
      ● LUKE 9:30-31 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:
31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
(Moses & Elijah were alive, and were yalking with Jesus)
      ● REV 6:10 The souls of the martyrs are before the throne of God, crying out for justice. (they are conscious and actively petitioning God)
      ● HEB 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
      ● MATT 17:1-13 ...At the Transformation of Jesus, he is seen speaking to Moses and Elijah, further showing that Holy ones of God are not among the dead.
➨HONOURING MARY: LUKE 1:48: All generations will call Mary Blessed. We Catholics are the ones who call her the BLESSED Virgin Mary and treat her accordingly.
➨NOWHERE does the bible permit protestants (or anyone else) to Scrutinize & monitor the prayers of other people, nor to judge their sincerity or their salvation.
Protestantism does not come from jesus. It began with Martin Luther in 1517 & exists Only to oppose the Catholic church which Jesus founded 15 centuries B4 the protestant revolt. They only know & accept the PARTS of the Bible that suit them and they do not have an accurate bible either.

A lot of Protestant and Evangelical Churches are very "buzzy" - so energetic and a bit like jumping into a concert. For me Catholic churches have filled me with awe, peace and contemplative homeliness.

@@teasea221 That's because he's being intentionally deceptive. The 10 commandments didn't come about centuries later for teaching purposes. It was 10 commandments from the beginning. It says so in Exodus 34:28
And they originally weren't found in the Bible. They were written on Tablets of stone, not as Bible verses in Exodus.
And they are all 10 distinct ideas if you really study them. He's trying to justify why the Catholic Church remove/ ignores the 2nd commandment and splits the last one into 2 parts to claim it's still 10.
In fact you can tell the last 2 Catholic commandments are supposed to be one. They read like this
      9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife
      10. You shall not covet your neighbor's goods
That's their version above, it's the SAME Idea.
You shall not covet your neighbor
You can shorten the commandment to just that. The Bible takes it a step further and lists examples of what you shouldn't covet that belongs to your neighbor.

When I look at a statue of St. PETER, I recall his faith struggles. I remember he was the bravest in "proclaiming" he would never leave and would rather die for Jesus. But he ended up denying Jesus not once, not twice but three times. Unlike Judas, however, Peter regretted and kept following Jesus from afar. When Jesus gazed on him before He was to be tortured and crucified, Peter knew it was a gaze of divine mercy. Thus, in return, Peter humbly said "Yes" to Jesus' question if he loved Him. Not once. Not twice. But three times also. And thus Jesus confirmed Peter as the sheperd, His first Prime Minister on earth after He ascended to heaven to reaffirmed Peter's status as the Rock upon which Jesus would build His Church (Mat 16:18).
    ============
Yes...when I look at his statue, I recall Peter's faith and strugles. In the end, I remember a great saint who finally gave his life up in the name of Jesus his God, being crucified also; but upside down because he thought he was not worthy to be crucified the same way his Lord was crucified.

If you admire your dad, mom, grandpa and grandma, and see them as heros in your life surely looking at their pictures will give you some strong spiritual support. Maybe you have kissed some pictures in your life for whatever reasons. If you have a son who love baseball to the bone, he might have all sorts of posters in his room, and all sorts of expensive memorabilia of his idolized player. He will speak about his idol in hyperbole. He would not miss a single game on him. He may be mad at you when you talk bad about his idol. Also, the statute of Peter, you are looking at, can never have any connection to the real Peter, because the statute is the product of the imagination of the person who made it.
The word of God is very clear on this, it says you should rather meditate on what the bible says about Peter. Joshua 1:8.

@John Doe Catholics don’t believe that Mary is a goddess. She has no power of her own. She acknowledges in Luke 1:47 that God is her Savior. However, Catholics do believe Mary when she said in Luke 1:46 that her “soul magnifies the Lord.” Mary’s soul is still very much alive, and is still magnifying the Lord, which is a very good and holy thing.
Mary was chosen by God the Father to be the living tabernacle, the Holy of Holies, to contain the Word Made Flesh, Jesus. Jesus himself was obedient to her (Luke 2:51). If it's good enough for Jesus to be obedient to Mary, then it's good enough for his servants also. No servant is greater than his Master (John 13:16).
Jesus said that you shall know a tree by its fruit, (Luke 6:44) and Jesus is the fruit of Mary's womb ( Luke 1:42), which means that Mary, while not divine, was certainly created and remained pure and holy, because a rotten tree cannot bear good fruit.

But always remember Christ is the truth and We need His words. That is more than enough. So ask God to reveal His truth and pray unceasingly as the word says. 😮Mary is the immaculate conception. She is not a sinner! She is a human being, that is for sure, but... What does the Gospel says? Hail Mary, "full of grace" says Gabriel! We do not worship Mary as a Goddess, we pray her because she is the mother of Jesus and we know that everything she asks him, he will try to do, for He loves her mother. Like in Cana! He said "no", but then he did the miracles of turning water into wine, just because Mary asked. What does Mary says in the magnificat? "All generations will call me blessed..."

If you get this point there is no need find other Gods in the form of statues. The statues you see in Catholic churches are there for different reasons.
One reason of their presence: In the old days images were used to to explain the Bible. Remember that the Bible was so expensive costing at least three years of wages and thousands of animal skin. Only a few people out of the whole population could own them. That is the origin of status and images not idolatry.

I have no problem with having a reminder of past saints in the form of statues. My problem is the idea that these dead people somehow have the power to guide and intercede for you when the scriptures clearly state in John 14:6, "...no one comes to The Father except through me." Why do you believe that they can when our Lord Jesus says otherwise. Why are you actively contradicting God?

    • @dispatcher2243
      @dispatcher2243 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

It is because you have forgotten about purgatory and pennance as a protestant. You see al christians believed that most of us were not clean enough to enter heaven duebto our sins. Nothing unclean may enter and no goes into heaven except through Jesus. So therefore when a person dies and still desires to he with God despite his sins he will then go to purgatory. A long painful attonement for thier sins. Because of thier love for God theu choose this in order to be with him. Its why we pray for those who have died and its why we ask those already in heaven to join us in prayer to God. Protestants have forgotten so much of what Christianity is that they no longer can understand the scripture. It is why the church has designayed personell to be the authorities on these matters. To avoid the comfusion and loss of knowledge of the church that Christs apostles themsleves set forth. You can see in thier letters to corinthians and ephisians and theslonians stories of them correcting incorrect behaviour in various cultures.
So we do believe no one comes to the father accept tbeough Jesus. But we believe Jesus was reffering to the entry of heaven. Henceforth Jesus's intercetion for our sins. Dying to save us. Not that i cannot ask y9u or any of my other brothers and sisters in christ to pray for me. If i asked you to pray for would scoff at me and tell me to go to Jesus instead? @@kwekuakoni-ampah945

If I might quotes our Lord’s words specifically from the NIV in Mark 12:26-27. After telling a parable about who the woman would be married to at the resurrection:
‘ Now about the dead rising-have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob?’ He is not the God of the dead but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”
I only ask that you consider it. For if Abraham was considered to be living by Jesus all those years ago then should most certainly be considered living today.
Now the question is whether Mary who is ‘highly favored’ or full of grace is in heaven. Elsewhere in Scripture it says after death

Apart from Him, every other prayer is made here on earth.

Isa.53.12 - Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.
Rom.8.34 - Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Being brought up protestant, this was very helpful in explaining so much to me! These ideas are unfamiliar to me and I'm glad to understand more! I've always hoped that underneath all the differences there is a core devotion to God and Jesus that thrives in both protestant and catholic churches. Of course it always comes down to individual relationship with God through Jesus.

Points to be noted by other Christian brothers and sisters.
Catholic never criticise or discriminate other denomination and their way of worship as they do on catholic.
Whereas others denominations are busy in preaching only and only against catholic rather than preaching how they should pray and to live a Christian life.

I grew up as a Catholic and even as a small child, when my mother used to make me go to confession, and enter a dark, small space, to confess my sins to a priest, I would question, why would I have to confess my sins, to a mere human being? When I asked this question to my mother, her reply would be "Because, the priest is in direct contact to God."
What? I asked my mother "Why couldn't I just pray directly to Almighty God myself? Aren't my prayers and confession's also in direct contact with God?"
Also, as a small child, I would also question, why would I have to bow down to these statues, that are just made of concrete and metal?
When it clearly says in the Bible, not to do that?
When I got older, I left the Catholic Religion, because I started to do my own research, by reading the Holy Scriptures and what I found out, is that what's in the Holy Bible and what the Catholic Church is teaching, is completely, false!
The Catholic Church is interpreting the Bible to their own beliefs and not God's true teachings.
Our God the Creator, has given his people the discernment to know what is good and evil. Even as a small child, I had the discernment to know what is against God's wishes.
Don't believe what false prophets and false Religion's teach. The truth is all in the book of God's teachings. The Holy Bible!!

Add to the fact that preparing your mode of transportation can take an hour or so, just to travel for mere few minutes, and other things that hinder transportation and efficiency (and some don't even have transportation help!) Then yea, it's definitely hard for an average peasant person to go to church, unless there is one nearby.
Yes, it is the very duty of the priests to explain the Word of God, but not everyone can go celebrate Mass daily. However, they can visit a church and just look around at the stories and even the saints.

It comes down to if one follows Christ or a manmade doctrine. What does the bible say about Mary and Joseph? Catholics say she remained a virgin, is in heaven in the flesh, is a queen and remained sinless. This is all idol worship and non-biblical. Mat 1:25 tells us Mary and Joseph consummated the marriage after Christ was born. There are about a dozen scriptures speaking of Christ's siblings in about 7 different books. The bible tells us when we die we return to the earth. The bible also tells us "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Mary and Joseph were also told to go to the temple and make a sacrifice as they were unclean. Mary also thought Christ "was out of His mind" which was a disbelief He was the Son of God. The catholic church has hundreds of prayers to Mary with many of them being nothing less than idol worship, not to mention contacting the dead. Follow Christ, as he said, "I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me."

    Topic on crystals and catholicism,
The same people who think worshipping crystals is the same people who think Catholics are praying to Mother Mary instead of God when the fact is the failed to understand the word/term "Intercede or to pray for us". Well all I can go about this is not to argue or retaliate, all I can say is what St. Stephen and Jesus said when they were persecuted, Lord forgive them for they do not know what they do, or as in casting judgements, as they say. No hate, just love and compassion even for thy enemies =)
I'm Catholic and I didn't know anything about crystals and actually thought it was nonsense until few weeks back I randomly walked into a spiritual/holistic shop and came out with 10 crystals. (Something got into me and I just had an impulse to get them)
I don't focus on the crystals itself, I use it as a tool to connect with God as the same way Catholics use rosary beads and the way we ask saints and Mother Mary to intercede for us. Main goal is God, end goal is God. Anything in-between is a tool I use and I make that intention clear from the start.

    Questions To Catholics part 2
Take a look at the following prayer.
"Hail Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, Our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. And after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.O clement O loving O sweet Virgin Mary.
    Now compare
1John.2.1 - My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
1John.2.2 - And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
Verse 1 says Jesus is our advocate. Verse 2 gave us the reason why He is the advocate.
For all humanity, there is ONE Mediator, One Advocate, the man Jesus Christ.
    1. When and how did the Mother of Christ became the most gracious advocate?
John.14.6 - Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
    2. Who is our life: The Messiah or the Mother?
    3. Who are the poor banished children of eve?
Christ came to reconcile the banished of eve through His death. If a sinner comes to Christ and reconcile with God, is sucha person still banished?
    4. Who decides who will see Jesus face to face, is the Mother or the Lord Himself?
    Shalom

Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
      I Never Knew You
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

I just a had a long debate with a friend of mine regarding bowing to statues and images of the saints and Mary. The conversation got absolutely nowhere. I could not get her away from predisposed ideas that we are idolaters, that we don't follow scripture, and that we follow man and not God. I know some people are more open to listening than others, and that's a good thing. We don't necessarily need to convince someone that we are right, allow we should try with God's help, but they should at least try to understand what we actually believe. My prayer is also Jesus's prayer: that we may all be one.

    • @Pj-fm7oe

How would we act on a prayer like that? What can help us to be in unison with Jesus more than doing what God's word tells us?
"And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols?" 2 Corinthians 6:16
More important than listening to others is listening to God. He makes the rules and he says we can't use graven images.
"Do not be misled... idolaters...will not inherit God’s Kingdom." 1 Corinthians 6:9,10
Some will attempt to convince us that these things are acceptable and so we are warned not to be misled.

Ah yes it must of been such a struggle to arrange already written books into a single book, where would we be without that? The catholic church did not write the Bible and they have no authority to supersede what was inspired, as they would have you believe. As I recall from history the RCC went about keeping the Bible out of the hands of common people for a few hundred years when they could get away with it. Remember the Inquisition, burning anyone who disagreed or tried to read or own a copy? There are many throughout history who we have to thank for the scriptures we have full access to today, many of whom were put to death by the Catholic church for their efforts.
On one thing we do agree, there is nothing you can say that will change my mind, because what I believe comes directly from God's word. (see the quoted scriptures and MANY others)
There are no scriptures that you can use to excuse bowing and praying to statues\images, the abhorrent practice of idolatry is condemned in the entire Bible. Human traditions that came about later have warped "Christianity" into what would today be unrecognizable to Jesus and his followers. Traditions and philosophies of men is what you are predisposed to believe instead of going by the inspired word of God.
“Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues." Revelation 18:4

Very true , we should not be enemies neither we should be enemies of truth and God Himeself by indulging in what God did not command. Loving each other includes advising, rebuking and warning of the dangers of sin, Revelation 3:19, Ezekiel 3:17-19. James 5:20
. Proverbs 15:10 and12 teaches that we should be lovers of advices. Someone who warns me that the dangers of smoking and beer drinking is that my lungs gets damaged as well as burning my mucus lining. This one is more lovely and friendly and brotherly than someone who keeps quite for fearof creating enemity. If an adivise is not pleasant to someone because it blocks them from there evil act, they become enemies of that advise and in fact view the adviser as such . 1 Kings 18:17-18"" King Ahab viewed Elijah as a troublemaker and an enemy, little did he know that he himself(Ahab) was evil but the devil blinded the king not to realise his sins. Instead , the devil turned the king's mkind to look at Elijah, God's true prophet as evil. The same Ahab, hated Miciah, another prophet , 1kings 22:8 , for speaking out his evil. The reason of these rebukes was for him to repent, which he did not want to. The same with some other brothers and sisters who do not want to part ways with evil ways view the advisers as: 1)enemies (2) violaters of their rights etc. But blessed is the one that God rebukes , Proverbs 1:23. Danger when one ignores in anyway , Proverbs 1:29-32.

However hatred can be created depending on the approach of advice. It is very important to take anyone as a friend when advising. But the truth remains the truth and can not change even if the whole world rejects it.

Christ, the head of the body, rules the church (Colossians 1:18).
God has entrusted revelation to the saints (Jude 3).
God alone is infallible (Numbers 23:19; Acts 17:11).
Scripture alone is the Word of God (John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21; Mark 7:1-13).
Christ alone is the Redeemer, for He alone suffered and died for sin (1 Peter 1:18,19).
Christ Jesus is the one mediator to whom we can entrust all our cares and petitions (1 Timothy 2:5; John 14:13,14; 1 Peter 5:7).
Justification is by faith alone (Romans 3:28).
God justifies ungodly sinners who believe (Romans 4:5). Good works are the result of salvation, not the cause (Ephesians 2:8-10).
Grace is a free gift (Romans 11:6).
Salvation is attained by grace through faith apart from works (Ephesians 2:10).
The believer can know that he or she has eternal life by the Word of God and the testimony of the Holy Spirit who indwells believers(1 John 5:13; Romans 8:16).
There is salvation in no one but the Lord Jesus Christ, “for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
The bread and wine are symbols of the body and blood of Christ, and He is bodily present in heaven (1 Corinthians 11:23-25; Hebrews 10:12,13).
      (Symbols--NOT literal).
The sacrifice of the cross is finished (John 19:30).
The once-for-all sacrifice of the cross fully appeased God's wrath against sin (Hebrews 10:12-18).
The sacrificial work of redemption was finished when Christ gave His life for us on the cross (Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 1:3).

    • @allioop8156
      @allioop8156 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@viviennebaptiste It is the Catholic tradition that led to the compilation of the Holy Bible in discerning which scriptures were inspired and which were not. Also God commanded the Israelites to create images multiple times for varying purposes which pleased Him, but the images themselves were never worshiped.
When we kneel before a statue or icon it is not because we are worshiping the statue or painting itself. It is because we are showing reverence to God Who is everywhere and the image helps us focus on Him. Worship is much more than just saying prayers, singing songs and feeling emotionally close to God.
If you can kneel in your room alone during prayer and no one would accuse you of worshiping your wall or your bed, why would it be wrong to kneel in front of an image of Jesus if it helps you stay focused and closer to Him during your prayer? Also here are some sources from the Bible:
“[The Lord said] make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat. Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end. . .” (Ex. 25:18-19).
“You shall make the tabernacle with . . . cherubim skillfully worked” (Ex. 26:1).
“The Lord said to Moses, `Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and every one who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.’ So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole” (Num. 21:8-9).
“He made two cherubim of olivewood, each ten cubits high. . . . He put the cherubim in the innermost part of the Temple . . . And he overlaid the cherubim with gold. He carved all the walls of the Temple round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers” (1 Kgs. 6:23, 27-29).
“[The brazen sea] stood upon [statues of] twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east” (1 Kgs. 7:25).
“And on the surfaces of its stays and on its panels, he carved cherubim, lions, and palm trees, according to the space of each, with wreaths round about” (1 Kgs. 7:36).
Why would God command these images to be created if not to draw our minds to Him? He would not have them make these images without some kind of significant purpose.

As a former follower of an eastern religion, it does seem very much like idol worship to me. How much of it can someone keep denying that they haven't bowed down before the image? Isn't it a slippery slope where adoration just slips into worship? How can you stop lay people from falling into that blasphemy? Most people don't even understand the scripture their entire lives. Isn't this a stumbling block in leading idol worshippers to the true God who has to be worshipped in truth and spirit when you spend so much time and energy trying to explain what's being done in your own church is not idol worship? @@joeharvey5556 My friend in Christ, If my friends are sick, I pray for them. If someone in a problem asks me to pray for him, I pray for that person. Where is idolatry in this? How is asking someone to pray for you is idolatry? One doesn't rely on that prayer solely, that is not idolatry.
Can you please help me where in the Bible did any dead saint pray for the people? Please read the Bible. I was a Roman Catholic. I happened to read the Bible and understood how Roman Catholicism leads us astray from Jesus very subtly. I can give you many examples of clear idolatry in Catholicism. We all are going to be decieved. These are end days and Satan is very clever. Please read the Bible and pray to the Holy Spirit for discernment. God bless you.

Having images and statues of saints and angels are not entirely wrong, it is what you do with them. Don't light candles for them, don't touch its feet in the hope of a miracle, after all, they are just wood or stone. The dead are dead and can't hear you or carry messages to God. Still, of course, we must respect and honour them, but that doesn't mean that you pray to or through them. The only intercessor between God and man is Jesus Christ. I am an Anglican, which is basically, just toned down Roman Catholicism. We do love grandeur and huge pipe organs coloured gold and huge lampstands and gold crosses. 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.' Touching an inanimate object won't make you any Holier or grant you a miracle if at all, it'll just pass on the germs from someone else who touched it. It is important to bring beauty into the house of God, to attract people and to at least try to prepare the people for the beauty of Heaven, which so much more than even St. Peter's Basilica or St. Paul's Cathedral. On my visit to the Holy Land, we saw the place where Jesus' body was washed, many people touched it, to try and get a blessing or to just feel any power that rubbed off Christ, after all, didn't the woman with the blood disease touch the clothes of Jesus and get healed? Well, that stone is not Jesus, if any power had rubbed off, then it would have been taken by several other people hundreds of years before the stone was even found by the Crusaders or St. Helena. It is a blessing to walk where Jesus walked, talk where He talked, and see the places He would have gone or to see where He was (like the Chapel in Cana, where the wedding miracle was), but if you want the power of God or a miracle, just ask for one from God. The only place in Israel that is said to be Holy, that I also believe really is at least somewhat Holy, is the western/waling wall. The closest wall to the Holy of Holies, where the ark of the covenant was kept, the only remaining wall of the Temple. Because experienced something miraculous. People often write prayers and insert them into the wall's crevices, so did I. and two of the things I wrote were answered. One right after I put it into the wall, and the other later in the year, now I'm just waiting on the last one, which by law can only be after a few years.
Mary was Holy and deserves to be respected, but she is dead. The Bible says we should pray for others, not to others, or through others.
1 Timothy 2:5 says "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus," 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 says more, that those who are 'dead' will 'rise' with Christ when He comes down from Heaven. How can someone who is dead hear you or speak to someone else on behalf of you? Ok, say they are in Heaven, still, how can they hear you? They cannot hear or see anything happening here, nor can we hear or see them. Only God can see us and hear us and He speaks to us, and we hear Him, sometimes by His own voice, sometimes through someone else, sometimes by the Bible His word, sometimes even just by putting the idea in our head.

I read the BIBLE :) great combination of 66 books....ensured by GOD that we have access to it...translated by many scolars..about 70...72....Fascinating. ...full of HISTORY WISDOM INSTRUCTIONS SCIENCE and PROPHECY. ...
I read but also compare with other versions. .I read mainly the King James version.....that one plus other versions
state somewhere. ...by JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF....NOT to call anyone your father on earth....there is only one FATHER...HOLY FATHER IN HEAVEN..
And that we pray only to THE FATHER....IN HEAVEN..
      THROUGH JESUS CHRIST...YAHSHUA HA'MASHIACH
      ..NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES...
nowhere in any of my BIBLES are we told to pray to anyone else. ..not by JESUS or the Apostles. ....They had no statues and certainly NOT of Mary....
I'd like to know what year mary statues were invented and promoted and who started the idea of praying to her as she is not an OMNIPRESENT GOD.
I have Greek ,Hebrew BIBLES AND THE TRANSLATIONS... translations with a huuuge dictionary..Strongs Concordance Greek Hebrew. I can look up any word in those BIBLE BOOKS....
I also have esword programme. ..that will look up any word translation or phrase....and show you every single scripture that it contains in the first... old or new Testament....in all languages...
      Much better learning than seminary....
STRAIGHT FROM THE LIVING GOD BREATHED SCRIPTURES. :)
      HALLALU YAH. :)
But I just can't find it..instructions to pray to anyone else...in any of the translations...versions
      JESUS PAID IT ALL
      ALL TO HIM I OWE.
I did find in the book of Kings that GOD DESTROYED ...KILLED.
.. King Saul for having conjured up Samuel the Prophet who had died...Saul was in trouble with GOD....and so he tried to reach the old Prophet....GOD KILLED King Saul that night.
I'd think twice as to who I pray to :))
      JESUS PAID IT ALL
      HALLELU YAH.

@@yahshuaisthewaythetruthand888 hello, when you read a text of Scripture ALWAYS read it in context. When the Bible says not to call anyone Father, it also states not to call anyone Teacher. In this case Jesus is referring and talking about the Pharisees and how they are elevating themselves with the People. If we just read the verse itself, What are we supposed to call our Fathers??? By their name? I know if i called my Dad by his name ill get smacked in the head. "Hey, Alfredo can you help me with this?" 《{ POW }》* Same with the Teacher part. You get the idea!
About praying to our Saints. You can read in several Psalms how the Jewish People actually praise God and even the ANGELS. You can also look up how our 1st Church Fathers started praying to our Saints specific on Mary. Look it up or if you would like examples ill be glad to givem out. Remember, when we pray to our Saints, we are asking them to pass on our message to God or to pray for us, etc.. We do not ask them to give us a miracle or something, they dont have the power, and if in any case you do ask them for something and its done its through Gods power. Lets keep in mind that Saints pray for us in the same way i may pray for you, specially because they are in Heaven with God. A lot of People say but there is only one Intercessor, Jesus. Ok, let put this in context again with an example. My Son is sick in the Hospital. I know his going to die. He tells me, "Dad can you pray for me please" Im i going to say no there is only one intercessor, pray to him yourself. Get the idea!!!

@@2021-j2d hi there....... I never said he was my enemy dear:)... but
      I'll just stick to what
has been WRITTEN:-...the instructions.... ...we cannot use just bits and pieces that suit us and compromise HIS WORD.
      Matthew 23:9...JESUS CHRIST is speaking;
"And call no man your father upon the earth, for one is your FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN"
      ..said JESUS THE CHRIST.......
Mr Casy should know that (as well as you:) )...who insists on disobeying the words of the GOD and brushing off the severity of the deceptions taught calling himself....allowing others to call him "father"
      Matthew 4:4...(JESUS TELLS satan)
"It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every WORD THAT proceedeth out of the mouth of GOD"....
THE SECOND AND TENTH AND ALL OTHER commandments proceeded from not ONLY the MOUTH of GOD but HE WROTE THEM IN STONE!
And some guy comes along and decides to do a better job than GOD and flippently split HIS commandment in 2???Decides it is better???
And give A HOLY GOD and you and me the reason as to why it is better that way?...because women are not PROPERTY????
GOD created EVE as a wife and helper.....never property....in the first place..."the two shall be as one".....
Matthew 4:7.. (JESUS said to satan)..."IT IS WRITTEN again THOU SHALT NOT TEMPT THE LORD THY GOD.
4:10...Then said JESUS (YAHSHUA HA'MASHIACH ) unto him.. (satan)...
Get thee hence satan for it is WRITTEN,
THOU SHALT WORSHIP THE LORD THE GOD AND HIM ONLY SHALT THOU SERVE.
(Capitals used for emphasis or respect for he NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES :) )
      Psalm 119:105 by King David....
"THY WORD is a LAMP unto my feet and a LIGHT unto MY PATH"
(The BIBLE IS a fabulous read.THY WORD......a love message of redemption straight from GOD..WHYwould you not want to read it....HIS WRITTEN WORD..it is FOOD:))
So when some one comes along and changes the written words of GOD?...and leads you on a different path with unbiblical doctrines and traditions...???
Check it all against with what is WRITTEN. :).
The path is NARROW JESUS warned.
"For we wrestle not agai st flesh and blood, but against principalities, against the powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places"
      Ephesians 6:12
If you read what GOD has Written in those 66 books HIS WRITTEN WORD.and meditate on them and
listen to the teachings of JESUS...YAHSHUA HA'MASHIACH :)
HIS words are true and faithful... :)
GOD BLESS YOU IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF YAHSHUA HA'MASUACH...

I think one reason Protestants find it so hard to accept that we aren't worshipping statues is because their definition of "worship" is praising God, talking to and about God, and singing songs to God. But look at the first commandment. You are supposed to worship ONLY God. I could easily put a toddler in this category. I praised my toddlers. I talk to and about my toddlers. I sang songs to my toddler. Protestants often see us doing these activities to saints and "Ah Ha! Gotcha! You do worship saints!" What they fail to see is that they do nothing toward God in their own services that is reserved ONLY for God. We offer a sacrifice, the sacrifice Christ provides us to offer through his death and resurrection. We offer it ONLY to God and we do so in conjunction with our the saints and angels who stand with us in worship, not as the object of worship.

Jesus is GOD... God the son. What do you suppose the word that was with God was? The word became flesh, walked among men, was rejected and killed for US. Accept him, and God accepts you... it's rather simple. Reject him, and God rejects you. PERIOD.
Sins separated us from God, he sent his son, an extension of HIMSELF to US. We could not go to HIM, so he came to US, that is the beauty of it. So smarten up and actually open your King James Bible. READ IT.
