I'm 34 now but when I was in high school and probably 14/15 years old, I saved up and bought the HPI DVDs and would lend them to all my mates in school as we were the very rare JDM lovers as everyone else back then in Australia just loved Holden's and Fords. All those DVDs and VHS's are brilliant, they still hold up today for great watching.
Bro!!! As an Aussie kid growing up in the 90's seeing THE Ghost just sitting there in the back of the shop is actually insane. That car was godly famous in every tuner magazine. Super cool to see it still around and in the same condition.
32:05 all JDM STI's have EL headers from factory. Twinscroll turbo, EJ207, 8250rpm redline all stock. it does sound like a flat 4 more when you get into boost.
I remember seeing Ghost in the steel at Autosalon car show and Jamboree, jeez i'm old. Also seen the HKS GTR do donuts in the wet at Willowbank raceway when the event was rained out.
The XE falcon was the last car my Opa had been part of the draftsman team for before he retired and I have his XE falcon and still remember going in as a child. Can't wait to fully reatore it
interesting fact i guess not many people outside of Australia know. In order for us to import and register grey market cars they needed to be complied or have a similar model sold in Australia already. a lot of cars like skylines that had no comparable local car the government would crash test a number of of them to confirm compliance. Saying this we have always been able to import certain complied JDM cars however not the majority, for example for years we could only import JZX tourer v's and Mark 2 in 1JZ-GTE but not the gz or whatever, 1jz na's etc.
Welcome to Australia guys, when they built Sydney Motorsport Park it was in the middle of nowhere, I remember having to drive out there on a regular basis & it sucked, Rj in NSW
i dont know whats more of a throwback to growing up in Australia, all the Ignition dvd's or seeing that bad boy binder of World Aircraft Information Files at @7:42 !!
NO FUCKING WAY!!! GGH05T is still around? I remember that from Autosalon back in the early 00s. I don't know why this video was recommended to me, but I am glad I clicked.
Smsp complex was in the middle of nowhere initially but as sydney expanded it became quite central. Its located between a waste disposal site, an industrial area, 2 major motorways and under a flight path. Its within a noise exclusion area i believe so no issues with noise complaints.
Been the king down in aussie and new zealand since they came out, euro and usa only caught onto them in the past 5 or so years, which is why the price exploded
The (Aussie) Ford Falcon and Ford Territory (kind of like an X5 to the M5 of the Falcon) was also sold in New Zealand, South Africa and Thailand mostly as bonus markets for the car
39:10 in Europe they were called the Granada, think it was a UK thing in the 70s-80s. My dad had one 🙂, in green, it had a 3 liter 6 cylinder engine. Think the Ghia badge is the trim level.
This model Falcon looks like the Granada, but was designed, engineered and built in Australia. The Falcon line is bigger but does use the same headlights as the Granada.
@@paulrigbye1752 The collaborations in the past was interesting, very local ideas were created, not like today where it is mostly pushed by the home base. Thanks for clarifying.
It's a XE Ford Fairmont Ghia. It's still a Falcon, but the Fairmont was higher spec and the Ghia just another level (from memory). The XD Falcons (the start of that squarer box look) don't have a lip from the bonnet over the radiator area. The XE's have a flat lip and the XF has a curved lip. The XE's had those lights at the back and the XF had like a plastic insert in those grooves. I was never a Falcon fan but plenty of mates had them so I picked up some info like you do. I'm sure there are plenty of other facts that I don't know and a Ford fanboy can fill in on the full details.
Tom cruise cutout😂 Funny cause I've had a Shawn white standup cardboard cutout. Some promotion for bf goodrich back in the day. Used to sneak it in each other's backseat so when you went to leave, ya had a jumpscare. Its been in the 85 honda oddysey my cousin drove in the garage for the past 6+ years with his name written on Shawn cause he stopped coming around as much. Shawn was supposed to be a temp replacement.😢
Great vid, as always Larry. Thumbs up! Correction on the Subaru STI S-204, they do not come with 6 piston front/4 piston rear brakes. The STI spec c Ra-R had 6 piston front brakes. The STI S-206 was the vehicle that came with 6 piston front/4 piston rears from the factory.
@larry that purple VL drag car would've come out with a RB30 single cam turbo or NA. many australian builders use those rb30 blocks with rb25det heads from a r34gtt and build 700-1000hp monsters without much effort. (the rb30 turbos were quick even the auto ones and those VL commodore bodies although they looked big weighed nothing).
Wish you had the Gymkhana Prints on your site! Especially the one you never keep in stock of The Wheels In The Dirt Curve On Pikes Peak Of The One And Only KB!!! KB43VER!!!
Had an Aussie mate just return from NZ. Got off the plane at Auckland and got a cab out of the city found this young Kiwi bloke by the side of the road fcking a sheep right in the ass. He yelled out and said "Hey mate in Australia we sheer our sheep" The kiwi bloke turned around and said "get fcked Im not sheering her with anyone"
I think old mate with his S Tune was thinking 7 figures 🤣🤣 try find any running, un crashed 34 GTR for less than 6, maybe 10 years ago you'd get one for less.
Thank you guys for watching. If you guys want a signed print for your wall I print all of them myself from my large format Canon printer larrychenprints.com/
Aussie car culture is basically the JDM culture with a twist of bushes and mullets
And Fords & Holdens
and aussie V8's
We can't get enough of Japanese cars
V8 scene is a lot bigger
nice one
Andrew is such a chill dude, love that he's getting blown up on the global scene 🇦🇺
wow OG Ghost autosalon car. Mad to see it still around!

Yep from V8 Blob eye on. V7 Ej207 still had unequal, single scroll.
4:30 - I remember that car in the s3xspec days!
In 2007 I took on a Volvo with a Honda Fireblade, and spent 3 months in hospital in traction - Andrew's DVD's kept me sane during that period!
Love how that GTR was spitting flames at idle
Reminds me of GT7
If you are talking about the R34 at the start it's not spitting flames at idle.
Love those 200sx,time capsules of early 2000 Show and Shine events. All the cars had sick body kits, colour schemes, power and sound systems.
MCM guys have done some of those cars (sexspec Civics)😂

The yellow evo rally car with burns on the window he was such a good driver ❤️❤️ that place is amazing!!
Thanks for continuing to bring great videos to us Larry! 🙌🏻
Great video thanks, glad you enjoyed the trip !
The Holden guy @37:25 was saying 800 kilowatts, which is close to 1100 hp.
800hp
I've a grey import R33 GTR Skyline. It was imported into Australia under Government agreement with Nissan. ✌️🤘🏴🇦🇺

Great video Larry 🤙🏻🇦🇺

They should chrome gold dip the te37's so it matches the badges.
