The Oldest Hate | On the Brink

Are we witnessing the "high tide” of American antisemitism? Professor, writer, and American Jewish historian Pamela Nadell says the explosion of vitriol post-October 7th is built on decades of rhetoric targeting Jews as settlers, colonialists, and racists-and is at the heart of conspiracy theories since the first century.
Professor Nadell traces past echoes in current protests, in Episode 3 of Dialogue for Change, with host Hari Sreenivasan.

Featuring an interview with Professor Pamela S. Nadell who holds the Patrick Clendenen Chair in Women's and Gender History and is Director of the Jewish Studies Program at American University.
Professor Nadell lectures widely and has written for, among others, The Washington Post, The Conversation, and Hadassah Magazine. She is the author of numerous books including America’s Jewish Women: A History from Colonial Times to Today (W.W. Norton), which won the 2019 National Jewish Book Award’s Jewish Book of the Year. Her next book, Antisemitism, an American Tradition, will be published in 2025.
Past president of the Association for Jewish Studies, her museum consulting work includes the museum planned for the rebuild of Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life complex.
