Just got this and used it in my mixbus with the first preset in the list for Mixbus, and again on the master session with the preset WARM MASTER, and without any tweaking of these two presets I was blown away.
For me this is a fast way of cleaning / taming unwanted frequncies as fast as possible without chaining bunch of diffrent plugins for a similar results. So for the price on sale its very good plugin and a great cheap alternative for the other options.
Love this Plugin since day one of its release. Sure, soothe is more versatile, but much more expensive and quite heavy on the cpu, this baby u can put on every track of a mix when needed. 🤘👍
this is dope, basically an Auto-multiband comp, Was only a matter of time until this was made. I suppose my concern is how the compression sounds... Perhaps it's not as typical for MB comps to imitate classic compressors, but it would be nice for them to have at least offered various distortion models or harmonic profiles modelled after hardware. This is my concern with Denise Audio's Dragon fire, which is a super user friendly MB comp, that while it has an included drive knob (which I suspect is contingent upon how much it is compressing, though I can't be sure) it has only one colour or sonic imprint, which means it's not as applicable then if it had a few.
@@discomyass Yeah that one... I managed to catch it 50% on a sale... It's just a matter of time when it's gonna show up again on their weekly sale site.

Nice one Streaky Dude :) like your fucky lights , do you make then flash when you have done a great mix and having a beer :) and start throwing some shapes , bet you do ! thanks for the vid bro.
Cheap alternative to Soothe and I really mean CHEAP. Doesn’t come close to neither quality or workflow. Also adds distortion to the sound even by adding just a plain sine wave to it.
Hey Damien, we're working on a v1.0.1 right now to fix the "sine wave issue". What happens is not actually distortion but "spectral leakage" caused by the crossfades in the summing algorithm. (I've given a longer explanation of what this is further down in the comments but wanted to tag you to make sure you'd see it). The update will be out very shortly -- please email us if you have any questions at all. We're always happy to answer them :)
@@BABYAudio-official Great for you to reply explaining this to the gentleman... Ive seen a few demos where this plugin came out on top transparently - which is what most of us want :) Thanks for your continuing hard work!
I didn't like it much, it makes things sound not so smooth in a bad way lol (no pun intended) the only plugin I love from baby audio that I use A LOT is Spaced Out but other stuff isn't that great in my opinion.
Why is Smooth Operator referencing white noise??? Gullfoss and Soothe reference the pink noise slope with good reason. Does Baby Audio know that the human ear prefers pink noise over white noise? Compare the spectral slope of any commercial mix with that of the pink noise slope. If you pull Smooth Operator down in its default setting, all sources sound thin. The reference is supposed to be the pink noise slope. Please fix this Baby Audio.
This. ☝I suppose you could just drag up the dot on the far left and drag down the dot on the far right to compensate for this, but it would be quicker and more intuitive if it was a built in feature. Maybe even let the user decide the slope.
@@nikkomakinen6582 I agree. Thing is that all the other similar plugins like Gullfoss and Soothe compensates for the slope out of the box - why Baby Audio overlooked this is really odd.
A lot. Bob Katz did an experiment where he put a microphone on either side of a dummy head for ears and put a variety of hats on it. Even a backwards baseball cap created comb filtering, you can imagine what a full brined hat did. Conclusion don't wear a hat when mixing or mastering.

you have fingers, and paper? if the paper is moving, there is enough bass, if it rumbles enough on your finger, there is enough bass. That's how you mix bass on ns10s lol
I really like a most of JD's plug-ins but this one is not really on-par with it's competition, especially in terms of resonance suppresssion. TDR Nova is still No.1 in that regard (yes, even compared to soothe 2 and DSEQ IMHO). Smooth Operator sounds too phasey and dull.
@@inlovingmemoryofdouglasmul5216 Nah, if you run a plain sine wave through it with no other processing it adds unwanted harmonic distortion; which is a bummer because I really like Baby Audio, but them not advertising the distortion anywhere is pretty suspect and not cool.
@@aarons6617 Yes, you are right and it’s really obvious as well. Being a fan of the other Babyaudio plugins, I can’t wrap my head around what they have done to make this one as useless as it is.
