It’s actually refreshing to see a “not over the top” approach” to the adjustments made. But rather using the right plugins sparingly and knowing what it is that’s needed to achieve the correct outcome. Nice work!! 😉
You saved my track! I have a lot of rumbles going on, texture, and this helped a lot to glue it together and make it sound punchy.
I thought that 2015 BS with layered kicks was finally gone)
If that’s what you’re given to work with…🤷♂️
@@Streaky_com just replace the kick and give them a proper kick drum xD
😂
Yes! Ableton session! Cheers Streaky 👌
Thanks Streaky for giving some love for Ableton Live.
No probs 👌
I was gone ask, why is he in Ableton.. lol.. I see a lot of jokas going to Ableton.. Hummmmm...
@@JTFullerAs someone who uses both, Ableton’s workflow is faster for almost everything. Hard to go back to Logic.
@@JTFuller Could be that Live is not meant to work like other DAW workflows that goes into mixing. Still doable. Just to clear one thing out: Ableton is the company and Live is the software they made, hence it is called "Ableton Live" as it is written in EULA.
Good tutorial! End up throwing around 3-4 glue compressors on my kick/bass either individually or grouped, definitely a top 5 stock plugin
lmao
Your TA pluggin really does make a difference
The first kick in the bar is always muffled
Yeah that’s how the track was presented there was even velocity in the levels.
@@Streaky_com what?
@@Streaky_com Understood, However not the best choice of track to use for this demonstration Perhaps??
...It was the very first thing I noticed while you simultaneously stated release setting to let transient through.🤷♂
@@Streaky_comit sounds like a repeated four kick loop sample, where the audio Fade button hasn’t been unchecked in Ableton
The producer probably forgot to turn off that automatic fades mode in Ableton settings. Its not a Streaky issue.
well, the first kick is muffled in the loop , you spend so much time to fix this kick and the end result is just a small noticable difference and the muffled kick is still to hear... the Kick is simply not good and doesnt fit to the bass/organ sound.. Use a proper Kick right from the start, then you dont need to fix things in a time consuming way at the end :)
Good Tips. Always use compression in those circumstances. Universal Law.
The needle on the compressor was dancing nice on the kick. To slow it will lose that snap for sure. Great video
I don't think its really always the layering that will save the track.
I mean, you can find one decent kick and it will fit in well. On the other side a lot of sample packs layer kick with bunch of transient shit and call it a kick which often doesn't translate well in the overall mix.
For that best thing most of times what I do is just adding fade for kick that has shit transient and add another kick that has dope transient but bad low-end part for which I add end fade to leave a really tiny bit of kick.
In the end make sure phase aligns to ensure they boost each other other wise if you don't move it by a friction, they'll cancel each out and you won't get the power no matter what.
Also, if you make that layered kick, its best to render it out as one to save time.
The glue comp is my favorite tool
i see you moved from logic to ableton.. wise decision😊
😂😂😂

How are you getting on with the transition? Its a pretty intuitive DAW, I started on vision 4 lite when I used to play in a rock band. I got a free copy when I bought a line6 tone port and stuck with them for about 20 years now and it's come on a long way from the early days.
Why?
I'm using a traditional DAW and I'm not sure about that & Bitwig.
How will it help me to use that (or Live) over a traditional DAW?
I'm not just making electronic music...
(Thanks for any explanation.)
@@paulgreblick line6 teamed up with Ableton over 15 years ago and released a copy of Ableton live 4 lite with their tone port, so I hardly say that was aimed at EDM
Hi Streaky, what do you think about the AVAA C214 from PSI? Can you make a tutorial for us? Thanks bye.
Yeah, but we're not remixing show me love by Robin S. how do we get the kickass hardstyle supersaw leads?
I highly recommend you guys buy his mixing / mastering course the Essence of Significance !
Finally a non nightmare inducing thumbnail
Love your content Streaky
Nice bro. Use Ableton ❤
bro the production xdd
Streaky on that Tony Stark money
Ableton awesome!!
Love this plugin, but how come mine is silver in color and not black?
You can change the colour in the settinfs
Working on this very issue on my track. Perfect timing! [Edit] is there a way to make a stock ableton compressor a glue compressor? I'm kinda broke using Live 11 Lite
Not an engineering question, but what camera and lens are you using now? Videos are looking extra crisp lately 👌🏾🔥
Canon camera with sigma 18-35 lens
Ableton!!! 🚀
$67 takes it away from being a must-have/impulse purchase.......If it were half that (or less) i'd have bought it blind........
Give it a try it’s free for 7 days…don’t buy blind…if it was half that after fees etc, I’d be negative! Sorry
How do you know how much db gain to put on the glue compressor? Any rule of thumb?
Use your ears, it depends how dynamic the sound is as you want to flatten it out so the peaks are crushed down
Do you typically use Tight Ass on a bus that includes just the low-end elements, or do you put it on the mix bus?
You can use on busses or mix bus
So what is the point of having a sub kick if we're just gonna cut it out?
I'm not sutting it out, I'm vut the top of it off to make space for the other kick, otherwise you can get too much build up in that area,
if you're a master of all DAWs, why not show something on Cubase Pro? :) It's a pain in the ass to translate tips and tutorials from other DAWs.
Hahaha ok
I would had done something similar, but good
hahaha...maybe you should make some videos!
@Streaky_com if I made some videos, they'd be like yours but not as good
I don't want to be rude. How about using 4 bass drums with the same sound right from the start?
The transient is cut off on every first bass drum in the 4-beat loop.
Sorry to say ....
Nice video though ....
I was here just to see if I'm the only one that listened to this! People are no listening 😔
Don't shoot me, these are the files I've been presented with...I'm mixing not producing!
@@Streaky_com If you are mixing, then you should fix this issue. Use the kick drums that has a transient and paste them across the timeline, not the most difficult task 🤷🏼♂️
@@hermanhovland3705even if easy,not a mix engineers job
What if bass jumps in levels good bit… do you crush it till its more or less stays the same level?
Yes crush it more
ride the fader
out of all of the note combinations, you chose those three notes. the bass is not your problem.
I didn’t choose them, this is what I was given from the client…it’s never perfect
Are you always using Pro Q3 in Linear Phase mode?
Mostly
@@Streaky_com Am I the only one that thinks that Zero latency and Analog Phase smear the transients? Perhaps I should test the Linear Phase
why is there no snap on the first of the four kick hits?
I know it’s how the engineer cut the sample with a fade…we play with the hand we are dealt!
@@Streaky_com are you sure it's not abletons "Create Fades On The Clip Edges"? i mean if not engineer needs to be fired
Tightarse.
😂
Hey you're using Ableton.. Are you switching too??? Great video though..
I’m a master of all daws 😂😂😂
I own 3 daws. I use ableton the most
Amen. I went logic>FL>live. Maybe bigwig next but I really enjoy working in live, pretty much the perfect workflow

Bad job bruv.
sorry you don't approve of the technique
@@Streaky_com the damage is already done before any processing really. your kicks are uneven, its because your first kick of every for is slightly faded in before u started duplicating it. (I noticed you just changed DAW recently, go to settings and turn of autofades)
Ew Ableton🤢
😂😂😂
Ahh Livephobe lol. Love it
@@irishmossdubwise Whatever that means. Something you just made up.
@@DBTHEPLUG means you're a goof
@@irishmossdubwise So the "lol" and "love it" in your previous comment was actually you hiding the emotions you're letting out now.
Lol, love it.
Sure, you could do this conventional method that you hear literally everywhere. Or?... And this is just a thought. Could you maybe help to accentuate the flabbiness of the kick so that it is still flabby but flabs with more punch? Then of course you would have to reconsider the bass sounds that you're using and, AND... Follow me here. Now you might actually be on your way to creating sounds that aren't heard everywhere ad infinitum and carbon copied by literally everyone. And, AND... You might actually be producing and mixing instead of just tracing over the abominably overworn grooves of monkey-see-monkey-do production.
PS: I am in a mood today. Continue onwards all!
Crap...
