Love it when you talk about inks. One of your older videos got me to try them in the first place, now they're probably my favorite tool. So, you know, if you ever feel like reviewing those new inks, I'll watch it.

I love contrast paint and I'm happy that these paint finally exist after 30 or what years. However watching your video I realized two thing 1: your ink method looks much more smooth and steady and 2: contrast are a solution to a very specific GameWorkshop problem, wanting to sell minis and heaving massive armies you need to paint before you can enjoy your games. In any other branch of painting miniatures something like "slap chop" + contrast wouldn't be such a help as with massive scale miniature wagrames like with 40K

Looks like I need to go and get a hold of those Scale 75 inks now! Where did yours come from?

I got em from scale 75 directly. But I'd make sure you have a favorite medium to go with it 😀

What medium did you use for the airbrushing before putting in the inks? Why do did you put it, to make it less opaque?

I use Green Stuff World Maxx Matt medium. It does two things.
Thing one is it does make them a little less opaque, which is good for inks because they tend to be quite saturated and I can control the layer better with less saturation.
Thing two, which is the main thing really, is that it's the perfect consistency for running through the airbrush, so by mixing the ink/contrast/paint into the medium it'll flow in a way I'm familiar with through the airbrush, while if they were to be added as is, the different consistencies would take a few sprays to get used to how it's going to spray.

I use inks and Apple Barrel for white for almost everything.

You should try zenithal with white ink. It creates a smoother undercoat, and can be more selective with highlights.

I still would like to try some of the other brands like scale 75s and army painters. But I think when it comes to the texture of the ones I have tried the original GW ones feel really good. I think it might depend a lot on colour though, cause it seems like everyone has colours they like and don't from all the paint lines. I'd say who ever has the best red though should be the overall winner cause Red apparently is a hard contrast to get right.

About a minute in and I see a problem. Unfortunately, the GSW "contrasts" are notoriously bad, especially in terms of coverage. I haven't seen much in the way of good reviews on them.

Ah, and I do see you did briefly switch over to a GW contrast for the leather, but back to GSW for the green. Have you tried the Pro Acryl Transparent paints? They tend to be quite pigmented and mix rather well with their own medium as well as GWs contrast medium and Army Painter's speedpaint medium.

I do switch to a GW contrast on the 2nd test for that reason, and the 3rd one includes lots of paint so is more about the medium than the pigments. So while I had to work with what I have, I did try and make sure there was some balance between brands.

Yeah..I've heard that about GSW D inks a number of times. Explains why when they came out very few stood out to me. That being said...I LOVE their Acid Green, it's my go to for my Orks & Goblins.
