  • This is Part 1 of 2 of what turned out to be a definite adventure. We like to say, "Not all trips are successful, but all trips are adventures full of memories worth preserving." That said, enjoy part one of our latest adventure into the beautiful Indian Peaks Wilderness.
After an early season four-minute hailstorm, our summer plans were dramatically changed as we found ourselves dealing with repairs, insurance claims and scheduling with contractors to get our home back to normal, if not better. Our hiking plans changed, many were put on hold, and some were, unfortunately, cancelled all together.
This is the beginning of a bucket list thru hike of the Indian Peaks Wilderness, from the Hessie Trailhead north to Camp Dick through some of the most incredible landscapes one can find along the Front Range Mountains near the Denver / Boulder metro area.

Ah, the beautiful IPW! The bugling elk.
I found it strange that I heard not a one in the Weminuche. Great looking trail.

It is one stunning wilderness to walk through. Even road walks can be fun (hint, Part 2) 😎🐾

Great video! I think the Indian peaks wilderness is one of my favorite places. I live in the flat state to the east and it's one of my favorite hiking areas. I saw your Buchanan/Pawnee loop video and have decided that's my next hike.

We never tire of the IPW. Every season up there provides its own unique beauty. The Pawnee / Buchanan Loop is incredible, we want to go again!

Colorado is always tough, the uphill treks can seem relentless but also rewarding at the same time. We keep going back for more 😎🐾
