Honestly the bards layer got my hopes up for more interesting languages later but then it was right back to just being "match the vocabulary". I still really enjoyed the game but was a little disappointed in that regard.

The Alchemist's section was slightly less on language and more traditional puzzle solving and the Exiled's section was very lore heavy. Adding another sentence structure would have just muddied those. But honestly, stretching the segments out to allow for new structure would be worth it. Imagine if the Alchemists get rid of unnecessary words for efficiency and the Exiles are missing a core concept we have, like individuality as they see everyone as part of the same over-being leading to "I" and "You" being missing?
There's another game a lot like this called Heavens Vault. It's story driven with lots of narration in regular language. You are an archeologist in a future nebula that travels between moons and ruins via a cosmic river that you navigate on. You find tons of lost history and slowly decipher the language. Very Treasure Planet esque, with less monsters and more robots.

The words do get confirmed. You just have to find the same word several times and have it make sense (then it gets checked off and can't be changed) instead of having it given to you after having all the correct words on a page. The real difference is heavens gate giving you 4 likely words to choose from and no picture where this game gives you a picture or action with no multiple choice. Heavens gate also gives you some hints by talking to Huang and he'll make comments while also telling you about incorrect interpretations you've made for words. Both games do it well
another suggestion i have is Tunic, it's a more souls/zeldalike with combat and stuff but there's a whole in-game manual with a different writing system! i may have spent at least a few months obsessing and writing in that system lol
Tyler missing the one portal and not finishing either language is killing me D: i hope he does go back and do those cause its pretty important for endgame stuff

I watched the first video and played the whole game in one sitting immediately after, full 100%. As a language geek I had to, and the puzzles were so good. It's probably already complete by now but the bards language reallllly gave me a run for my money at first due to the sentence structure.

Tyler is missing 3 symbols, "protect/wall" is one, another is the upside-down triangle on the sword at 10:15 (Tyler guessed only/long/arrive) and the last is the seal on the paper in the observatory at 11:35 (Tyler guessed science/knowledge). The empty notebook page has a treasure chest, a big wall and a guy shouting. The building is 'protect/wall' 100% (fortress? barrier??), the sword symbol could be the guy shouting (call for? sing???) and I guess the stamp on the paper could be the treasure chest? That one doesn't make much sense...
I played this game a few weeks ago with my brother and absolutely loved it. Watching someone play it for the first time after having finished it is super fun in it's own way too huhu

As always, the editors do an amazing job here. I played through the game after your first video was released, and while I liked the game I had some issues with it. The editors fixed them all, by trimming the boring and/or frustrating stealth/backtracking portions, and actually highlighting the player character on entry to a room when it's otherwise unclear where you are.

I had a ton of trouble specifically with translating between the warriors and researchers since it took forever to find the warrior glyph for scientist in a different context. Was the last one I translated.
Actually, since the plural is in front of 'impure', I think it's 'impures' duty' as in 'the duty of the impure ones' which is a really concerning phrase.
I can definitely see this being a nice 6 part series. Also, the 3rd language is quite hard. I did manage to 100% the game and I can't wait until you finish it too.
I like how carry and lay are almost mirror images, but since carry has the vertical line, they can’t be confused for each other, like if a warrior were dyslexic. Also, notice that their locations - library, fortress - are triangles. Arrive, as a verb, has the angle on the bottom, but being an upside down triangle, it suggests a relation to location.

While watching this I remembered a game I came across on accident long time ago and really liked it - Return of the Obra Dinn. I'm quite aware there might be a lot of things you won't like about it such as graphics or game mechanics, or if you prefer the puzzle itself more than the detective experience, but I'm just gonna leave the title here. It would be nice to see my favourite brainiac of YT to play it 😄

Dont forget to finish the scrap book. Youll need the translations for the fast travel dialogues. Also the new area was the hardest for me
I think all players missed that one page in the Fortress because they didnt click on the Symbols in the Torch light Area after placing the torch down.
