You're an angel! These videos are doing so much to calm me before this quite confusing application debacle.... Though I have a question. It says in the portfolio guidelines that we're only to upload two video posts, one motivational video and one demo tape (both of which I'd love to hear you talk about - I don't even know what a demo tape is), but what does this mean for animations? Should they be uploaded in another format?
Thank you! About the videos I think, that now they would like you to make a demo reel out of all your animations. But it is better to ask applicants support about it, because Gobelin constantly changes stuff!
I've already finished watching the video. I really enjoyed it, and loved to discovered a bit about your country through your art. Thanks for all the advice, I found it extremely helpful n.n
thank you so much for this!!! so informative and inspiring!! i was wondering if you'd go over your calarts portfolio as well? i just think it's so insane you're attending both 🤯🤯
Thank you for making this video in so much detail. Your video made me subscribe your channel. Believe me, Your english is pretty good & you are so beautiful. Love your portfolio. You have skills & varities. I only have one question, I did my graduation about Fine Art in Art college & had 65% only in exam, i am working only in adobe photoshops & illustrator right now for Character designs & Storyboards, no other Software. So, can I apply? I mean is there any age limit or Marks percentage? Love from India. Stay safe out there. 😷💙
Thank you so much! Gobelins doesn’t care about your marks in the previous school! The only thing they want is to see your variety of works, amount and your personality:) you don’t have to know any specific computer programs for application, as Gobelins expects 80% of traditional works in your portfolio! Age limit is 25 years old, but there is a new rule. You can easily apply if you graduated from your school 1 or 2 years prior to your application. In case if you graduated earlier- you have to ask for a permission to apply! In this case your deadline for application is earlier - in February!
Hello! I have some questions. I'm really interested in master program, but I need to save more money since I am not an european and the tuition fee is super expensive for me, so I plan to apply before I turn 30(hopefully) and that makes me feel self-conscious about my age. I know it's quite a stupid question but how old are the students there in general? how old is the oldest friend you have met there so far? Thank you for making this content! :D
Students at masters degree can be whatever age:) I know ppl who are older than 30 yrs old and I don’t think, they rlly feel the difference between themselves and younger peers! I am very insecure abt my own age, so I don’t usually ask ppl about how old they are xD I am sure there are a lot of guys, who are much older than 30 years old!
@@oblacat_ Oh thank you so much! because seniority plays a big role in my country so we usually ask others' age in order to know what to call them, your answer makes me feel less concerned :)) thanks again!
for some one whose late to the game of art like my self (i did not draw for 4 years in highschool dude to mental health even through ive drawing all my life) what curriculum do you suggest for someone like myself to do for the next year in order to catch up in the fasted way, i would like to go through the fundamentals from simple forms> rotating forms> perspective to anatomy while doing 1-2 hrs of figure/ life drawing everyday for the next year and a half i think. what else should i add to the curriculum(this is gonna end up helping 15 other ppl i am paying for art resources and sharing them) how long should we focus on a particular subject and who also would we study. i might be a lil too old and ineligible (im 19) but i would still like to at least try to apply by next year
Don’t worry, you are not old at all! I got accepted when I was 21, though:) I would suggest you taking some classes of animation to learn something fundamentals and show the jury, that you really want to become an animator. Also, taking some painting classes, or classes of character design, storyboarding, concept art - are also a good play, because they will add you some diversity. Another good thing is participating in animation festivals and doing team projects - it is highly appreciated.
Hey, an Australian here, currently in year 11 (one year away from finishing Australian High School) and i'm currently super interesting in applying for GOBELINS only problem is that I'm not fluent in French at all. Will this be a problem? Are any of the lectures if English?
Hii! It won’t be a problem at all! I am also not a great French-speaker! You can apply for an international course (which is completely the same with the French one, the difference is only in language of lectures). All the lectures are held in English for us:) so, don’t worry!
Thank you so much for information!!! Could you please share your or your classmates expirience with scolarships for non european citizens? Is there any at all?
Hello! I am going to apply for the bachelor of animation program and when you said your works should be observational and not from photos... do you think it will be okay if I take a picture of the objects I put on the table and then draw based of the photo I took?
Can you please give me some tips about moving in France from another country because I'm from Croatia and I'm a little confused on how does that work... °^° Do you need to do like some tests before applying or is portfolio enough? I mean you said that they mainly use English right? Yeah I hope you get what I'm trying to ask
Omg thank you so much for this! You are really kind >.< i have a question though, In your opinion, what would you say are the differences in the kind of portfolio Gobelins and CalArts want? I often see cal arts sketchbooks and they seem more “fun” while Gobelins consist more of more classical ones.. though i could be wrong because i dont see alot of Gobelins portfolios alot in the net.
Thank you! I would say that while Calarts portfolio consists only of your best pieces- in Gobelins portfolio you show almost everything you have done within a yr, so the quality of work can be different. I, personally, included works from my Calarts sketchbook into my Gobelins portfolio:)
i graduated animation uni about a year ago, but i wanted to try and get into gobelins cause i feel like i didnt really learn much and could really benefit from gobelins's progam. however i dont have much money and thought of going to gobelins for only a year or maybe two. do you think that'd be worth it? i know the masters is only two years but i honestly don't know if i'm good enough to get into that.
I think, even going to Gobelins for 1 or 2 years definitely worth it! Especially, if 2:) the second yr of Bachelor is the most fulfilled with animation and technical stuff, which is the main feature of Gobelins!
Did you have any previous college experience before applying? I'm thinking of getting my associates degree before applying but I don't know if I should
1 questions should you put fan arts in your portfolio and if yes how much should you put so that you don't seem like some weeb that just draws Anime drawings and nothing else? Edit: I don't actually like painting and still life like drawing utensils and fruits and stuff I like more perspective and anatomy/sketches. Is it ok if I don't post any/less painting and is it ok if my painting are digital as actual paints are costly to buy again and again?
I saw some portfolios where there were a few fan arts, but, tbh, I wouldn’t recommend putting too much of such stuff into your portfolio. I think that you can put into your portfolio whatever you want, bc you are showing the jury your personal interests. You can have about 20% of digital work, so I don’t see a problem in painting stuff digitally:))
@@oblacat_ I actually had another doubt what type of drawing increases my chances and how much time does it takes to get so good at drawing I can get accepted. I am 16 in 11th std/ higher secondary and I have like 2 years to prepare my drawing skills and I am very scared as 2 years is probably not enough time to get good at drawings. I am improving quickly at gesture drawing but I am still afraid
I think, 2 yrs are more than enough! Don’t worry! I prepared for only one yr and still got accepted:) Actually, I don’t know which types of art increases your chances, bc the jury decides on case by case basis. So, maybe, more sketches would be great?
@@Karan_Bhat there's a text document on the gobelins website that has lists of thing theyre looking for, it seems to be that they value diversity, quantity, and quality over one specific type of drawing :)

Did you provide the link of your work to Goblin?
To apply for a master's degree in Goblin, we can also deliver a variety of work
Or it should be more specialized
