Mike Ryan is a Texas Jewel that has been glimmering amongst the locally popular music scenes of Texas. I like to think that he and other Texas singer songerwriters that are thought to be only underrated because they are loyal to their local fans and we as Texas country music fans selfishly keep them grounded here in the scene. Some artist except that and thrive while others artist propel to the pop country nashville chart side where they get mixed in to a crowd of overrated artist and eventually just fizzle amongst the mess of music being lobbed out on to the mainstream radio. Personally if I were an artist in Tx I'd stay put too. Texas has many radio stations that exclusively play only Texas country artist so they get plenty of play and endless great venues to play for also. Plus I believe most artist here are independent which allow them to manage their own path for themselves so I'd imagine that I'd be grateful for that much if I were an artist of course. I also believe that many Texas artist would love to be more popular nation-wide or even world-wide but choose to limit themselves just because they simply are humble.
