- Bill Haley & His Comets were an American rock and roll band that was founded in 1952 and continued until Haley's death in 1981. "Burn That Candle" entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #46 on 12 November 1955, peaking at #20 on 31 December the same year and lasted 17 weeks on the charts (Wikipedia).

I concur with you, in my case it reminds me of my youth. One particular summer age 15 at school with all my friends around me. Such very happy memories and good music too. Music can do that i.e. transport you right back to a certain time.

It's been learned that composer Winfield Scott died October 26th, 2015 at the age of 95...
He wrote Bill Haley's 1955 hit "Burn That Candle"...
He composed LaVern Bakers' "Tweedle Dee" and Connie Francis' "Many Tears Ago"...
Along with Otis Blackwell he co-wrote Elvis' "Return to Sender" and "One Broken Heart For Sale"...

I was around when this was filmed, but far to young to appreciate the times.

Although they were Pioneers listen to songs like the band The Dominoes from 1951 the song 60-minute man
This song was done by Charline Arthur back around 1950. Check it out! She was great!

As already stated above, "Burn That Candle" entered the Top 100 on November 12th, 1955; twenty-nine days earlier on October 14th Billy Haley & His Comets played in Lubbock, Texas and one of the opening acts was Buddy Holly {his sidemen Larry Welborn and Bob Montgomery}...
In attendance that night was Nashville talent scout Eddie Crandell, he was impressed with Buddy and arranged his first demo recordings...
