    ONE PENALTY! And that penalty was an intentional delay of game to burn the max clock and give the punter more room to work. So essentially ZERO penalties and ZERO turnovers. Now we know Retalaf can take care of the football, make wild big time throws, and run the football (though not necessarily in the same game). Imagine if he ever does bring it all together though.

    LES is king of stadiums in the big 12. Offense was proficient at what the defense provided, didn’t have any three and outs (I think they got at least 1 first down on most if not all drives) and converted turnovers to touchdowns. Defense is amazing but does need to get off the field, but should be easier against teams who can’t run like KS.

      BYU offense opened the game with a 3 and out, outside of that, there was a 4 play and punt and a 5 play and punt but those were the shortest ones.
      KSU on the other side only punted once which resulted in that crazy return for a td, but had 3 turnover on downs.

      Right? "Experts" we're predicting we would have a 3-9 season, predicting we finish as number 15 out of the 16 Big 12 teams.
      Here we are, undefeated, tied for top standing in Big 12, ranked 22 in the nation, likely to win our next two games.
      I don't think we're national contenders this year. I don't think we'll win the conference. We might have a chance against Oklahoma State, since we play them at home, but I think we are losing to them and to Utah, very possibly to UCF, and Baylor might just end up getting their feet under them.
      Knowing our cougs, I fully give us a chance to lose against a couple of teams that we should definitely have beaten, but I still think we have a good shot to get at least an 8-win season.

  • @mikes554
    @mikes554 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

    Byu fan. I completely agree with what you said. Offense definitely needs some work, defense did so well. The problem I have as a byu fan is we have been burned too many times with byu having a great upset win and then going on to lose horribly against teams we should beat. I like what Drake said “just keep winning”. Let’s go Cougs. Just keep competing with the big dogs and let’s not embarrass ourselves like last year. Or like most Kalani Sitake seasons.

      @@mikes554 and, BYU ends up getting killed by in state rival Utah. Their offense took advantage of lost opportunities by Kansas state. It was more about Kansas state making huge mistakes because BYU’s offense just isn’t cutting it in my opinion. And I’m friends with the running back Moa, but the whole offense needs to pick it up. About 250 yards of offense isn’t going to win games against many more opponents.

    I think we (BYU) are building to being a Big12 power, but I'm not sure we're quite ready just yet. Offense does seem to be finding a running game, and if that turns out to be consistently true then perhaps the offense can be good enough for us to make a nice run this year. Avery should be good, he's just inexperienced and his receivers did him no service dropping passes. At BYU we're used to good QB play (even if the rest of the offense and defense is questionable), so I'm not yet a Retzlaff fan. He makes some good plays but he misses receivers a lot too. I’ve watched nba teams blow a team out by 40 and then lose the next time they play the same team. Those two first half turnovers for TDs completely changed that game. Y defense was great, and made KState uncomfortable. That discomfort and on the road led to more mistakes which led to a blow out. I think it's totally fair to be worried that they can't, and I think you very fairly identified both the good and the bad. You seemed almost apologetic about pointing out the flaws, but I just wanted to say, as an ill-informed, sometimes-watching BYU fan, I thought there was nothing for you to be sorry about.

    A lot of things went BYU’s way. BYU was struggling with the run until the chaos ensued. I think that was a combination of what the defense did and the KState offense shooting themselves. KState only punted the ball one time. BYU was opportunistic and took care of the ball.
